This place was phenomenal in terms of service. The food could have been a bit better, in my opinion, but it wasn't terrible. We had a wonderful waiter that flambéed our cherries for the cherry jubilee and the bananas with cinnamon for the bananas foster. He really put on a show and I enjoyed the desserts a lot. I ordered the rib-eye 4oz and though it was cooked to perfection, it didn't have much flavor. My relatives ordered the salmon and they said the same with their food - kind of bland in terms of flavoring. The bread though was delicious. We ordered several baskets of bread with the different spreads. I was highly intrigued with the fact that they had a story teller explain the history of Kiepersol. It was interesting to know about the salt domes and the vineyard and their homemade alcohol. The atmosphere and ambience was wonderful. I liked it a lot. Mama needed a break. I needed a break. Not to mention, I'm a quitter and I like running away from my problems (so does my mom, lol), and a bed and breakfast away from crazy family seemed like the perfect plan. Plus Mama was paying. She's balling out of control, ya know. $$$$$$ I pulled up a search on the ol' Yelp app, and there it was! Kiepersol!!! Yelp, you always come through for me. Always. Texas Hill Country is known for wines, but many people don't know that East Texas and its rolling hills have quite an impressive string of wineries as well. Of course we're not California, but then again...who's trying to be California? We're TEXAS. I can't even begin to describe the charm. The elegance. The peacefulness. The FOOD. This place belongs somewhere in Europe. Italy? But we have it here. The Coastal room was a large room with a luxurious bed, exquisite bedding, large bathtub, french doors that opened to a private patio and a HUGE megastar jacuzzi bubbling for me, just waiting to be used. Lots of channels to flip through on the tube. Remote controlled air/heating system. AHHHHHHH. Mom and I needed this. AND THE FOOD! Breakfast came with the room. Mama just loved her French toast which was buttery, sweet, cinnamon-y and had on outer layer of crispness to it, and my filet minion eggs benedict cooked medium rare was so well seasoned and put together, it was out of this world! Instead of English muffin, it was served on top of cubed savory potatoes that just seemed to soak in all the juices of the tender filet minion (that was a spot-on medium rare). Poached egg on top. Hollandaise. Cajun seasoning. This thing did not come to play games!!! It blew my mind. My GAWD...my Texas people know how to do a steak right. The people were kind. The place was peaceful. Really fun place to stay in East Texas. My friends and I stayed in the stable house which used to be a barn. I love how they still have the hay racks in the barn rooms as a decoration. We did the winetasting and enjoyed the patio which overlooks the Vineyard. Great location for visiting several other wineries in the area all within an hour. We also had dinner there and everyone enjoyed their food. This is the place I would like to go back to. read more

This was my second time to eat dinner here. I went with 7 family members. I ordered the special recommended by the waiter, filet mignon with garlic infused mashed potatoes and asparagus, 2 shrimp on the side. The filet mignon was good, tender, juicy, medium well. However I don't know why they put some crusted Parmesan and slightly grilled onions with a strange flavored sauce drizzled over it and the shrimp. The sauce drizzle was weird, like a burnt tasting grill drippings flavor. I did not care for that sauce. The shrimp was fine, not great. The garlic infused mashed potatoes were just boring and looked like something out of a frozen dinner tray. The asparagus was just ok. My group ordered a shareable appetizer of grilled Brussels sprouts. I love Brussels sprouts and have made them this way at home. They ruined Brussels sprouts for me. The weird sauce was on them, they were charred but not in a good way and too dry. The waiter also suggested a spinach salad and I went with it. I also love a good spinach salad and this also was not good. I don't know why my salad had limp undercooked bacon all over the top of my spinach and was smothered in a dressing that tasted like watered down pancake syrup. Why, just why? I ate the spinach that was not soaked and gave up. First time in my life that I did not enjoy a salad. It was my birthday so the family member that treated us to dinner said I had to have the chocolate cake. It looked nice on the plate with chocolate syrup drizzle and some vanilla ice cream on the side. The cake and ice cream were good. I'm glad I didn't pay for this meal, it was disappointing. The best thing was the filet mignon and the cake. My daughter had the salmon filet and some vegetables and she liked the salmon filet. She left the vegetables and I tried one of her Brussels sprouts, it was just ok. I feel as though I could have made this dinner myself, but better tasting. My sister enjoyed her salad though. It looked good. I would never come to this restaurant on my own. I was invited to dinner and that's the only reason I went. Let me start by saying the manager was amazing. We didn't have a reservation, we had driven in from Houston and found this gem on the way. He sent us over to the distillery and winery first while he cleared out some tables. Then, we got the wonderfully Nikki as a waitress. It was a bit backed up because she was double sat but she was so friendly, funny, and extremely personable. We absolutely loved her. She checked on us regularly, offered recommendations, and took in a bit of conversations with us. In fact, she talked my boyfriend into calling her when he's ready to propose! When we arrived and were having a drink at the bar, we learned their occupancy was just 50%....dishonest? Food was good...not over the top...but good value. They produced an acceptable alternative (not on the list), but the waiter came and poured 1/2 glass without offering a taste first...poorly trained? This place is beautiful and many members of the staff are super friendly. My husband and I went for our anniversary. We stayed two nights. The first night we arrived we were showed to our room. They confirmed the dinner reservation for the next night and our breakfast order. Matthew was who greeted us the next day, we were the only guests on Thursday night so he was very attentive and chatted with us. We had Pamela for dinner and she was full of personality and fun, she joked with us and made sure we had a photo for the night and even had our sweet plate say Happy Anniversary. My husband joked he just needed some milk (which they don't have) The next morning for breakfast we saw Pamela again, still happy and joking and even brought my husband his milk! I was recommended to try this restaurant out by a fellow Yelper and the client I was working with this week. We all went out to lunch and ordered the Kiepersol Fried Chicken. Although the chicken was excellent the vegetables tasted like they were frozen. Blah! No separate checks, so that was annoying. Beautiful grounds; located next to a huge, man made pond. My friend ordered the chocolate cake which she said was excellent. The service was slow and the place was dead at lunch time. Had a lovely time at Kiepersol B&B. Already knew what a lovely property they had from prior visits to the Winery. Very nice wines, friendly people and beautiful site. But this was our first visit to the B&B and its restaurant. Nice room, altho their toilet paper and toiletries need an upgrade. And, not that y'all are alone in this, but a nightlight from the dollar store is a great addition to any room. The restaurant was top notch, but made infinitely better by our super friendly service offered by Greg. What a gem! Hope they can manage to hang onto this very bright and capable young man. This was one of the greatest fine dining finds in the South, never mind Texas. The Duck Wrap appetizer was a wonderful creative twist on the norm, and the Seabass was absolutely divine. We paired all our food with Kiepersol wines which are truly fantastic and ended with Flaming Cherries and the Kiepersol Port!!! While visiting the quaint town of Tyler, Texas over the Christmas holiday, wifey's parents took us to Kiepersol. In the bustling mecca of Tyler, Kiepersol is probably the best restaurant to dine at. When en route to Kiepersol Estates, you must stop at the entry gate and give them your name and time of reservation before you are granted access. After about a 5 minute drive through the estate subdivision, alas, you are finally at Kiepersol Winery, and the friendly Valet staff is eagerly awaiting to take your vehicle. Upon entering the restaurant, you almost expect to see J.R. Ewing and the rest of the 10 gallon Cowboy hat wearing oil barons walking out of a private room with 19 year old hookers. Seriously, Texas is a funny place. This restaurant gets packed with some interesting and entertaining characters. Some diners are in suits, some women wear next to nothing, and quite a few men were decked out in their nut hugging Wrangler jeans, boots and obnoxiously big Cowboy hats. A+ for diversity!?!? Now, most importantly, here's my take on the dining experience: Wine list---impressive, but not overly extensive. Menu consisted of prime cuts of beef, and a wide variety of seafood. All of us ordered the filet, and we shared orders of the calimari appetizers. The calimari was honestly some of the best I've had. And, just like my first visit, the filet was cooked to perfection, and Kiepersol's cuts of beef are probably up there in quality with the big names such as: Mortons & Ruth's Chris. Service---PERFECT! Oh, and since I am a "Vodka Snob" I was very impressed with their selection of Hangar One & Chopin Vodkas:) Great food, great service, great Vodka selection, and good wine list makes for a nearly perfect dining experience. My husband and I made reservations both at the B&B and at the restaurant for our 1-year anniversary. GPS led us a bit astray, but Kiepersol apparently gets that a lot so they had helpful signs to set us in the right direction. We got there around 5PM to set up in our room before our 6:45 dinner reservations. Both the valet and hostess seemed a bit surprised that we were staying the night (we later had the thought that maybe we should've shown up earlier since we had to walk through the restaurant with all our luggage during dinner service). We emerged from our room around 6:30 for dinner and were seated at the bar while they set our table up. I asked the bartender what was good. He said, "We have beer. And wine." Oh, really?? I would have expected the bartender at a *winery and distillery* to at least give me suggestions from their own brand of booze, but he gave me none. I ordered a margarita, watched him LOAD it with Triple Sec and knew the drink was ruined. Luckily, we were seated shortly after he gave me the drink, so I asked my waiter, Matt, if he had any suggestions because I wouldn't be drinking the margarita. He suggested a GREAT strawberry-basil vodka drink (made with their own distilled vodka! Smart man, doing his job). I was so thankful for him. I got the salmon, my husband got the ribeye. His was slightly overcooked. Dinner was fine, nothing to write home about. That drink truly was exceptional, though, and I thanked Matt profusely. He also comped the margarita since I didn't drink it. Big tip for him! Also have to make note of their olive tapenade because it was exceptional. YUM. They allowed us to take our drinks back to our room. We stayed in the Paarl which was nice, hot tub was fabulous. In the morning, we had french toast and filet mignon eggs benedict. It was better than dinner the night before. Finally, a few days after our stay, I got a call asking for my credit card number again because they'd forgotten to charge it. It was really weird. Just like others have said, great atmosphere, great food. This is "fine dining" so expect the service to be relaxed but attentive. This is not fast food or Chili's. Don't expect to get and out in less than an hour. And to further ditto, the wine list is not as extensive as I 've seen of other restaurants of this caliber but they are also a winery, so they are featuring their own wines (which are pretty good!!). What makes it great for me is they have my beloved McAllan scotch and at a great price!! Smooooooth. We started out with the duck cigars. Good as usual. Then wife had a filet mignon which she said was like butter. I had the crab crusted sea bass with a side of suateed mushrooms and lobster meat. Beautiful. And the sides of Lyonnaise Potatoes and steamed vegetables (which were fresh) were nice, too. No dessert this night as we were both pleasantly full. Kiepersol Estates Restaurant is not a stand-alone choice here for a Yelp review. I would have created a new business to review ... except others have written about the restaurant under the Bed and Breakfast name. I cannot speak to the B&B, but I can speak to restaurant. We needed a pleasant surprise and more sophisticated dining experience in the Tyler area and got it at Kiepersol Estates Restaurant. The heavy wood and brass decor are not my taste but my dining companion said it was characteristically German. Seeing the brass fan contraption rolling above the bar, I initially felt like we would be dining in sort of a cuckoo clock. But the staff -- from valet to captain to waiter to bus staff -- did let us know immediately we were NOT back at Lago del Pino (which we had walked out of 30 minutes earlier). I welcomed tablecloths, good service, and the use of wood and fabric to absorb diner noise. Our young waiter was personable without being cloying. The Texas wine selection was, literally, a sight to behold. Our first course, the Kiepersol house salad, seemed off the mark and less interesting than we thought it would be. However, from there, everything went up hill. My 6 oz. filet was outstanding, really one of the best I have ever enjoyed. It would up being a lovely, quiet evening with good food and and, for two and attentive staff. Including a generous tip to the valet (who could school urban valet services) we spent about $145 for two of us. Big city prices in a small town, maybe. This was our second time at Kiepersol. We had an amazing time the first visit but this time left us wanting. We only had dinner at the restaurant bar. Staff was nice but the food was mediocre. We both ordered the Chicken Kiepersol with garlic mashed potatoes and creamed corn. The chicken and mashed potatoes were flavorless. I added salt and pepper and it didn't help much. The creamed corn had some flavor but it was not what we expected. Instead of kerneled corn in a sweet cream sauce, it is literally puréed corn that has to be eaten with a soup. I ordered a glass of thr Artize which is supposed to be their version of Pinot Noir and it tasted sour. I'm hoping we just caught them in a bad night because last year we were really wowed by this place. read more

This is undoubtedly the most beautiful venue in East Texas. Enjoyed the new spirits at the tasting room overlooking the manicured vineyards. Try one of their specialty cocktails. The Restaurant Had a top notch gourmet dinner in the restaurant. For starters the house salad of baby greens, spiced pecans and cranberries topped with a roasted tomato, Texas basil goat crème cheese and pecan-balsamic vinaigrette and the Lobster Bisque of housemade lobster stock, tomatoes and cream garnished with fresh lobster meat and crème fraiche were both perfect. For entrees, the 10 oz. fillet was fork tender and perfectly cooked. The pistachio crusted Sea Bass topped with white wine butter sauce was fresh and nicely seasoned. Both came with two vegetable sides - a welcome addition we don't often see at some "up scale" restaurants. Bread with olive tampenade was a lovely accompaniment as were the Kiepersol wines. We topped off the amazing meal sharing the Kiepersol Chocolate Cake warm delicious cake with a molten chocolate center served dusted with powdered sugar with a scoop of ice cream and a cup of fresh coffee. The perfect end to the perfect meal. B&B Spent one night in the elegant Paarl room decorated in rustic, deep shades, this beautiful room features French doors that lead to a hot tub on a private, screened porch in a natural, tree filled setting. The bed, pillows, and linens are ultra luxurious and the hot tub was wonderful. Breakfast began with a cocktail of fresh fruit followed by our choices of Kiepersol Eggs Benedict - poached eggs atop a pile of breakfast potatoes and filet mignon topped with delicious Hollandaise sauce and French toast with bacon. All this with fresh orange juice and bottomless coffee. By the way, breakfast is served now on Saturdays to anyone - not just B&B residents. Kiepersol is the perfect venue for a relaxing afternoon, an intimate weekend getaway, a formal gathering, or a business meeting lunch. We are already planning our next visit. read more

Complete perfection!! We stayed in the Napa room and there is not one thing I could say was less than perfect. I love sleeping in a cold room (between 60-62) and the A/C unit did just that!! The bathtub was deep and roomy, the bed was wonderful with the softest sheets, and the staff here brings customer service to a whole new level. We ate at the restaurant, which was amazing!! Our waiter, Jesse (he looks like one of the guys from the Property Brothers show), was wonderful - nice, helpful, and attentive. It was as if he knew what we needed before we even asked. I forgot to get the names of the girls at the winery who helped us, but they were equally amazing. When we asked about staying at the bed and breakfast, they called and booked our room, and then brought our purchases down to the bed and breakfast area. We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to visit the Kiepersol restaurant for our one year anniversary. When we arrived (after driving 1.5 hours from Dallas), we were told you must have a reservation, but you can sit at the bar and eat. We were both totally bummed after driving so long for a great anniversary night. We have been to other wineries before and never needed a reservation, so it hadn't crossed our minds. We sat at the bar for about 10 minutes when the manager came over and said he found a table for us because someone didn't show up for their reservation (you only get 20 minutes after the time of your reservation to show up). Service was excellent and the food was amazing. If you're looking to eat a quick dinner within an hour, don't go here. It's a great place to relax, drink wine, and enjoy a good meal with long conversation. The crab cakes and filet mignon were outstanding, plus they bring bread out before your meal arrives. My boyfriend even received a handwritten letter in the mail from our waiter thanking us for visiting...WOW. We went on a Saturday night and the winery was already closed (closes at 6pm), but the experience was beautiful and fun nonetheless. We absolutely loved their Cabernet Sauvignon. It sells for twice as much in the restaurant, but if you go to KE Cellars in Tyler just 10 minutes away (owned by Kiepersol), you can buy the same wine for half the cost, so we definitely went and bought a few bottles to take home. The food is always delicious, consistent, and servers are always pleasant and very courteous. Never, ever, had any bad food here, but I would recommend a couple of things! We decided on the chefs special which was a Filet mignon , lobster, and shrimp with two sides. The steak was okay, not much flavor, lobster and shrimp were both dry and chewy. Potatoes and sauted mushrooms were excellent. Creme Brule for dessert was good. Husband had the same but with a Ribeye with asparagus and mushrooms. Ribeye was a real salty. Kiepersol Estates Bed and Breakfast is phenomenal. It is the epitome of class, sophistication elegance, while maintaining its comfort and family appeal. The estates themselves are breathtaking, set among 63 acres of vineyards in the rolling hills of East Texas. The decor of the restaurant and bar is masculine yet very appealing to women as well. Mixed amongst the pictures of safari animals and the rustic lodge atmosphere there were family photos and authentic farm equipment perfectly placed throughout. The elegantly appointed rooms are just off of the dining and bar areas, giving a 'homey' feel to the guest. As for the food, we enjoyed the duck cigars and Cesar salad for starters. For our entrees, we had the oysters Rockefeller which had a smoky char on the shell and the Parmesan and spinach was still bubbling when it reached the table. I had the 10 oz filet with lobster claw mashed potatoes and smoke infused green beans... This was the absolute best meal I ever had in my life and i have eaten in some pretty nice places. Alas, we did not save room for dessert, which by all accounts was equally amazing. We watched throughout our perfectly paced meal as tables were treated to cherries jubilee and bananas foster which both were served garradon style and flames would rise frequently throughout the dining room. Every person was helpful and accommodating. We stayed in the Coastal Room and were given a card to pre-order our breakfast while we had a drink at the bar before dinner. Every person we met told us the same thing... order the Kiepersol Eggs Benedict. So, we did. And we were not disappointed. The dish is comprised of lyonnaise potatoes, sliced filet mignon, two eggs along with the hollandaise sauce. Drool-worthy! My wife who leaves half of everything on her plate left only one bite. The DeWit family has done something wonderful here in East Texas. The entire experience from the wine and distillery tours, to the restaurant bar and B&B, is simply perfect. With the decor screaming old money and whiskey, I was expecting my ribeye steak to be downright mouthwatering. Our starter of duck cigars was unexpectedly tasty, the drinks were solid pours, but the we each expected more from our entrees. To begin with, I ordered a medium rare ribeye but was given a pretty flavorless strip steak served medium. Perhaps they were out of ribeyes. Who knows? Had dinner on Tuesday, July 7. Outstanding meal! From the salad to the filet mignon to the dessert, it was all fabulously prepared. The 2010 Texas Cabernet Sauvignon from the Kiepersol winery was perfect. Wait staff was attentive, personable and took care of everything we wanted. Don't miss the Bananas Foster! I didn't spend time in the bed and breakfast but I did enjoy a date with my husband at their wonderful restaurant. We made reservations for the fathers day weekend and management bent over backwards to get us in. When we arrived we were greeted by a manager and a wonderful hostess who was all smiles and great services. When we got to our table our server was there promptly giving us our drinks and menus. Since we had never been there before I had a lot of questions but the waitress (Jamie was her name I think) didn't mind explaining the menu. She was very polite and prompt to attend to us. We had the duck cigars with plum sauce and mango salsa for our appetizer. Before that we were brought the most delicious fresh, warm bread. It came with salted butter, olive tapenad (I think that's how its spelled) and the Kiepersol Spread which was delicious! My husband had the Salmon and I had the lamb chops (medium well) Absolutely delicious! My husband said the salmon was cooked perfectly and it was perfectly seasoned. The veggies were also amazing! My lamb chops melted in my mouth and the potatoes that I ordered with it were cooked like homemade fried potatoes. All around it was a great atmosphere and excellent service. It was definitely worth the trip and the money. We will DEFINITELY be going back! it was a wonderful date night for my husband and I since we don't get out often without the kids.
