There was a perfect balance of FRESH fish to breading-nothing was oily. They provided a hearty portion of chips, with a side of mushed peas (which were amazing-you can tell they actually mushed fresh peas). The waitress was sort of a dick though-and I mean jerk! We wanted vinegar on the side, which was advertised and she gave me one small container. When I asked for more she made a rude comment, 'that should be enough' then sighed when she had to go get more. (NOTE: they will deliver to the pub across the street if you order a beer at the pub-per person. This was advantageous so you can settle in under the heat lamps and enjoy your meal without really having to take it to go. The bar was fantastic, great place to sit and people watch outside :) )

On the other hand, the John Dory was nicely done, texture spot-on, juicy and savoy flavor, but the white sauce looked broken and watery, and the taste was a bit on the bland side. The tartar sauce tasted really fresh and delicious as my friend normally hates tartar sauce back in Toronto but loved it here in Cork. The blackberry sundae with ice cream was nicely done, silky texture ice cream, sundae was rich in blackberry flavor. Other elements provide a diversity of mouthfeel, but I felt some of them were a bit of nuisance as their textures sometimes did not feel harmonized together.
