We were over here in the area yesterday shopping and surveying the place so we went back today. Little Rooster would be giving it 5 stars. He ran and ran and ran and ran (and ran) thru the water sprinklers. Got enough footage for Youtube and 30 photos. Then we scooted on over to the playscape that is just steps away. Slide city! More running, laughing, smiling, and sliding. After about an hour with the clouds getting chased away by the sun we headed towards the car for the clothing change and to find some lunch. Thats where I have to subtract a star. There is nothing exciting foodwise over here @ the meadow. The places I won't visit Chili's - The enemy or at least thats what Tony told me Johnny Carino's - How do you say not good in Italian? TGI Fridays - You seriously thought I would? Serrano's - Not a fan Chi Chinese Buffet - Vowed to never return Cartwrights Famous BBQ - food sucks at all un original locations Waterloo Icehouse - Boring I haven't been to Jason's Deli in years; maybe Haiku has something besides sushi? Nope. Third base, maybe but then I'm pretty sure the menu is close to a carbon copy of Waterloo. Gattitown, I just did kid stuff for an hour and a half! I want serious food over here folks. Then, its 5 stars all the way.

Obviously, the former concert venue no longer exists...well, certainly not to the extent it once did. Nope. Now it's a playground surrounded by mostly chain restaurants. And while this does kind of sadden me in a bittersweet "what happened to the good 'ole days?" sort of way, I can take solace in the fact that I'll be frequenting this spot much more than I would have otherwise. Because, as I mentioned in the first line, you can sit with a cold beer and watch the kids frolic. Or, sit with a cold beer and read a book while you ignore the kids. Or, spread out a blanket and lie on the grassy slope while drinking a cold beer. I do recommend glancing up every 5 minutes or so, though, to make sure the kids haven't been kidnapped. So, while I may have taken in two or three shows a year in the former incarnation, I'm likely to visit at least a couple times a month now. Sandwiches, wings, burgers, Mexican, Asian, coffee, ice cream, smoothies and sushi can all be had here. The selection is wide. I've tried three or four of the places, and will probably eventually review them all, since I do and will be frequenting this spot often. And as long as they have edible food and beer, they're all guaranteed a minimum of 3 stars. Cuz that's the way I roll. I gotta give props to the designers for keeping the music component alive, as there's a stage area just across from the playground. They had a summer concert series there last year, Southpark Before Dark, and I'm sure they'll do something similar this year. The playground itself is pretty large, and has plenty of fun diversions for the kids...but not quite the chaotic mess that is the playground at Barton Springs. Plenty of strategic spots from which you can keep an eye on the monkeys. They even pipe in decent (for the most part) music through speakers that surround the playground. And for the summertime, there are little water fountains around the stage area for kids to get wet and stay cool. Bottom line - if you live south of the river - or anywhere in the vicinity, really - and have kids, you should check this place out, because there's nothing comparable in BubbaLand.

I was stuck between the salad bar and the small basket of fries. Of course, I was hungry and should have eaten before I came, but I didn't. Luckily, the chick at the counter was nice. She explained everything. I ordered a personal size veggie pizza without cheese. When the food was ready, I was surprised that they didn't mess up my order. They exactly added pineapples and took off the black olives. The pizza was decent to taste, but definitely wasn't nasty, but not overly seasoned or spiced. It was good. I gobbled it right up. The personal option has about 5 slices, but small slices. I paired it with the sweetest drink that I hadn't had in long time: fruit punch. It was so sweet as if I was drinking liquid sugar. The restaurant was clean for what I saw. The staff was accommodating. I'm glad they got rid of the Chuck E Cheese that I grew up with he was very creepy looking. Seeing the new and slim Chuck E Cheese, I took a double take and appreciated this new rat better.

Megan is a wonderful administrator and knows every kid by name. My first son started around 14 months and went all the way through the pre-k class which really helped him be prepared for Kindergarten. My youngest son started at 5 months old and I cannot say enough good things about Ms. Diane and Ms. Karen. They are both the sweetest people and you can tell they love the children they take care of. Dropping your child off at daycare can be scary at any age but when they are so little it's even harder. You just have to hope you can trust the people taking care of them. Diane and Karen went above and beyond in that manner. So much so that my son would often reach for them at drop off and even when I came to pick him up he'd reach back for them. They are the best!

A couple months before the wedding I was sent a form to complete (that I had to reach out to get) about which specific songs I wanted played during each part of the ceremony. I sent it back and everything seemed like it was fine. The day of the wedding rolls around, and I can't really speak to the quality of the songs since I didn't hear anything except the song I was to walk down to. Which, let me preface this- I chose this specific song because my grandfather used to sing it to my grandmother who recently passed away. I get up there and hear that my song is already ending! They had switched my song with the wedding party's! I was pretty flustered and before I could ask them to just start again I had been shoved down the aisle by my wedding planner (whole other story). Anyway the wedding was still amazing and I get to spend my life with my best friend BUT wanted to warn anyone else if they choose to use Will make sure you are VERY thorough. Especially if you have music that has sentimental value. PS- another red flag: my wedding planner recommended them who I incidentally don't recommend as well...

Constructive criticism is not the culture here but instead the owner Paige allows the coaches to do or say whatever they want to these children. Good luck trying to reach her because she takes days to reply to emails and can hardly be found in the office at the gym. Don't let your child be on the same level as her daughter because your child will always be yelled at by coaches even if it's her daughters mistake. Which brings me to favoritism. Coaches give seniority to the children who are paying them on the side for private lessons. This gym will state many things in their long contract but they pick and choose who they want to hold accountable to it. Majority of parents will have to buy practice wear at over $200 but some parents can choose it as optional while others are told it's mandatory. Favoritism can be conditioning for petty little things like bows, some girls can wear whatever bow they want and its ok. Others are made to condition for not wearing the practice bow. That goes for being late too. If your not on their good side they will take it out on your child. If you show up late your child is retaliated against and you will see other parents arrive late consecutively but those children are not ridiculed or embarrassed in front of the whole team. This gym loves to win even though this is not always the case. When TXPA loses they verbally abuse the team even if it is the coaches fault for coaching them incorrectly i.e. to do a stunt that was wrong because they did not have a back spot or doing a stunt that's not on their skill level. This gym says they want to be the best and it states in their contract that your child will be removed if they cannot meet the skill level required. This is not the case. You will pay them thousands of dollars for your child while you witness some girls not being able to do a back walk over or front walk over IN COMPETITON SEASON. I pulled my child a week before summit. Yes granted they received a summit bid because the team that won 1st place had already received a bid and the bid went to the next highest scoring team (TXPA). I was hesitant from the start because immediately after they won the bid they brought down girls from level 2 and 3. They used the excuse that we can do whatever we want and take whomever we want to summit. I pulled my child because she took a flight class, tumble class, was a flier all season and helped win that bid but a week before summit they brought down another girl. My daughter came out crying because she said they put her in the back to stand there while all the other girls that moved down were put in an elite. They did this to multiple girls and they do not see anything wrong to this because they want to win at any cost even if it makes the original girls of the team that won the bid feel like an alternate or not good enough because they are being replaced by girls from a higher level. Paige didn't like my text to the coach stating everything above and on "group me" to the parents so she told us to not return next season. Which of course that's a no brainer. I don't want to give this business thousands of dollars for my daughter to stand in the back because you want to bring down girls from a higher level that didn't win a bid at all and replace the girls that worked since summer to win the bid. And don't try to speak to these coaches or Paige because there's an excuse for every action even though they contradict everything they say or what's written in their contract. When they first started they were a really good gym but one of the coaches that helped them win all those champions has left to another gym. So many people left for reasons such as the contract and because of the other coaches departure. Oh and I left out the "clique" of moms...different cliques. It's like high school all over again. I don't know if some live their dream out through their daughter or if they really just have no life. They love to sit/stand around and gossip about each other or portray themselves as better because of their financial status. p.s Two comments left below are from the owner and the director's mother who organizes the hotels for the gym with housing connection. I would say my business or the place I work for is great too if I was writing a review. I am so glad to be done with TXPA. Cheers!
