In my experience as a parent I have been extremely grateful to share my son with Mrs. Joye and her teachers. They have continuously supported my family with love and warmth. Over the past few years, through COVid nightmare... and still, with all of the challenges that we face every day. I have always found comfort in knowing that they were going to help me shape my son as he grows. Because of the way they work with him, my son's oral language development is outstanding and he is a thoughtful, vibrant, little boy. He communicates extremely well and he expresses often that he "loves his teachers". As the new year begins, I can't help but thank the staff for showing my son that it does indeed "take a big heart to shape little minds". I often remind him to thank Ms. Joye and his teachers when we leave. And he doesn't hesitate in saying, "Thank you for taking care of me". I wanted to take this moment to do the same. Thank you Ms. Joye and to all the ladies. Thank you for putting your best foot forward everyday... to help me, raise my son and for teaching him, and taking care of him each time you could. Warmest Heart, Tyra and Jacob

I knew the…read moredirector Mrs. Joye going into using them but was still skeptical due to always worrying about my daughter (14 months old) and it being a new daycare. I have absolutely loved having my daughter there. At one point she started having problems with diaper rash and they were so quick to adjust to her needs so that the issue went away. We were also in the weaning process when she began there and they were so happy to continually adjust with me to smoothly get her completely to cows milk. There have been a rare few days where I am running a little behind to get her and the staff has always greeted me so friendly and sweet even though my tardiness caused them to stay at work a little later. I get photos of her every day on Brightwheels, as well as get to see real time updates on what's going on in her day. It provides me with peace of mind, which is huge for me. She is always so excited to go to school and reaches for her teachers when I go to drop her off. They also feed her dinner around 5 which is something her old daycare didn't do, which makes her so much more pleasant when I get her in the evenings because I don't have to rush to feed a hungry baby. They have her on a great nap schedule and let her take additional naps if she needs it that day. I really feel like they genuinely care about me and my daughter and like for me to call if she isn't going to be there just so they know we are okay. Thank you Mrs. Joye and all of your amazing staff for creating a place in our small town where it's children are loved, safe, and taken care of. You have saved me so much time and worrying that could have been sacrificed from choosing another facility! If you have little ones and are skeptical at all about using this small business, have no fear, I promise you and your kids will be like family to them!

My children love it, have made friends, and are learning and stimulated all day. My oldest is so happy when I pick him up, instead of looking scared. They give daily report cards on how the boys did and lots of neat things they made in class. I've had such a great experience that my brother has since enrolled me niece who loves it just as much. The teachers are so incredible and patient, I honestly can't say enough about the peace of mind they give me every day knowing that my boys are in such good hands.

Our child has been attending for several months, and overall we have found Children's Universe to be a quality daycare/preschool. The staff, especially Ms. Dawn at the front, have been very attentive to our child and are very good at keeping us informed of how the day has gone. Some of the direct care staff/teachers seem to be more caring and involved than others, but you will find that anywhere and none of the care she has received there has been "concerning". The facility is very clean and orderly. If I was a child, I could see myself looking forward to playing there! They provide breakfast, snacks, and lunch. They even provide baby food (not formula). That makes for a very easy drop off in the morning. They are open long hours and only closed for the major holidays and allow you two "vacation weeks" a year that you can use if you wish and not have to pay while your child is not there. The tuition is also very reasonable for a center of this quality. For the infant room it is 175/week and it goes down slightly as the child hits 12 months, 24 months, etc.... At least in the younger rooms (don't know very much about the older rooms) you get a "report card" each day that tells you what your child did that day, what they ate, diapering frequency, etc..... They also use an electronic finger printing system to sign your child in and out. The main downside we have had thus far is how frequently our child has been sick since starting daycare. They have had some problems with illnesses circulating through the school. However, this is quite likely to happen from time to time anywhere there are large numbers of small children, so I don't feel it is a unique issue to Children's Universe. Overall, we are very happy with the care our child receives there and have been impressed at the level of personal attention she gets.

But there were times that every two weeks there were different teachers in the room. One lasted 1 day because the state came and did a background check on the employees and for some reason this new girl was released that day! The last straw was when he was moved up with his friends to the next classroom. I was nervous about this change because he finally had 2 teachers that lasted a month! But I was promised (by the director) the teacher had been there for a long time and was great. So we were hopeful. So in the new class room we were not there long at all, when an accident happened and...it is now 6 months from when it happened and he still has a scar. The kids were playing outside and when they lined up to go in, they said he ran off, tripped and his face went into the iron fence and his teeth through his lip and into a board as he landed face down on the ground. If you know my child (who is not perfect but very shy) this is not his nature! I asked the lead teacher what happened and she flippantly says she doesn't know....HE was covered in blood and she does not know! I was in shock, grabbed my child and left! The next day I go to see the director who was not there when this happened and she tells me that the lead teacher didn't show up to work and quit...that screams something is wrong! She then calls in the other teacher (another new hire) what happened and the above story is what I got. She said she was busy with another student but saw it happen. I ask her what she is going to do to ensure my childs safety (as he has also been bitten in the new class just the day before....deep bite through a sweater and his skin was broken on his back) and again, I am given the speech to give them more time.....NO I was done! I was calm, over and over again as he was bitten (skin broken) because new teachers were not keeping kids engaged. I believe when we left, the number of times he was bitten was 8 and he didn't bite back. The teacher told me they had a kid who loved to bite, but there was not a bite policy in place other than they would talk to the parents. And the teacher in the classroom told me that child was a problem as he bit 3 kids on the last day we were there. The several times I did drop ins, they were not following curriculum! I know I should like a helicopter mom, but when your child keeps getting injured.... you start to take notice quickly! And this is how I found out about a teacher putting soap in a child mouth.....but the director/owner can spin a story to place blame on everyone but them. I moved my child to another school (United Methodist in Montgomery) after this and at 6 months now with the new school....no injuries! He has had the same teachers the entire time and he has learned so much.....verses Primrose where he was not because they were constantly training new teachers. I regret that I allowed my child to stay there as long as I did!

They had no advice or plans to help solve the problem. I had suggestions on what had previous worked at his previous day care since we only had one disruptive write up there. His previous daycare set up a meeting and put into place ways to resolve the behavior and was successful. None of my suggestions were put into place or attempted here at Lighthouse. My son has been to two different day cares prior to this. This is the only daycare I have had issues dealing with. They would send home complaints for things as simple as him picking at his shoes. Like I mentioned previously this is the only daycare I've had this many issues with. The teacher would say things like "bringing a stuffed animal is fine and encouraged to use as a bargaining tool for good behavior" then I would be told at the front that outside toys or stuffed animals are NOT allowed please do not bring them. One instance I arrive at the day care and saw his teacher leaving. I engaged in a conversation to ask how my child did that day. Her response was " It was a bad day I'm exhausted I need to go home."
