I love how this playground has different age zones. Brought my niece and nephew here to help with their energy lol and they love it here. They have an area just for swings, an area with slides and other cool fun kid stuff and another area with rock like structure for kids to climb. What I like the most is that there is benches for us to sit and watch the kids while they go crazy running around.

I've been coming here since I moved here in 1991. It has changed a lot since then but it has only gotten better with time. The playground has changed from a wooden play set to a plastic one. The floors are cushioned which allows for more safety for the children. There is a lot to choose from so you can definitely stay there for at least 45 minutes enjoying it all. There is plenty of parking and shaded shelters. Trash cans and restrooms as well as vending machines can be found in close proximity.

I brought my little one here on a Saturday afternoon. He absolutely loved it. Yes, it was very hot and humid, but there was enough shade for everyone to share. The playground is brightly colored. They have a soft material covering the floor for safety. There were rock walls, slides, music drums, and other age appropriate equipment for the kiddos. There were shelters around where you could have a picnic. I love how it's right next to Mt Trashmore. There's also plenty of parking. I love how this park seems to be so clean. Great park to bring the kiddos!

This is a place that I really love and come to so often that I was surprised to learn I had yet to write a review. You get two parks rolled into one and you can't beat that. If your looking for the BEST playground complex in Virginia Beach look no further. My family has enjoyed the park for around 10 years. The new "Kids Cove" is less than three years old. The old wooden playground was located adjacent to it and fell in such disrepair the city graced us with the best playground in Virginia Beach. The park is located within the Mt Trashmore complex, close to Town Center. The gravel lot is plenty big enough with more parking off to the side. Of course even more parking at Trashmore, but it wont be necessary. I almost always find minor debris in the lot, but this place is always busy and I am excusing it to some degree. There are exterior trash cans, some use them people. The complex is quite expansive, but is contained. However, it is not walled off and you will need to supervise your children closely if there is a big crowd which is always. It's amazing how much equipment is offered for children up to age 12. There is also an area for smaller children to enjoy. Expect one weekends a mob, I never go on weekends. If you go on weekdays mornings just before noon it's usually a great time. With the YMCA so close all bets are off in the Summer with kids camps that are brought over. With Yelp's new video feature I did take film that provides a great idea of what the playground equipment is like. The floor has the new cushy rubber matting that is awesome. The playground area usually has some degree of litter, but usually minor. Trash cans are all around the perimeter. One of the really nice features of the park is four shelters right off the playground. They are not huge, but all new and have a two picnic tables that can easily a hold a group of 12, max of 15. Our family uses them often with grabbing something from a nearby restaurant and making a picnic. The building that houses the restroom is the same as the one that housed the old structure. It could be better, but most often is kept clean It is just outside the main entrance, so I do recommend parents accompany and be on the safe side always. Kids Cove is a superb place for families. I have found it to be safe, most often clean and always a fun time to exercise and even feed the youngsters. If time allows, which it never seems to for us, then hit Mt. Trashmore up too.

Soft cushy flooring!!! Bright colored equipment, A BIG playground with a lot of things to sit or slide on, twirl, spin, swing and climb on. I wish I was a kid again!! This would be where I would want to go. Everything is plastic I'm sure things get a little warm depending on the temperature. You have decide to let your kids play and be independent or spend a lot of time following them all over the playground. You can't see them on the whole park if you sit down. Free time to yourself if you can bring yourself to let that happen. 4 close park shelters within the playground area. I could see this being a great place for a birthday party or reunion with a lot of children.

Amazing playground for kids, of any age, to play. The play structure is huge. There are benches for anyone to sit on and even picnic tables. There are plenty of trash cans to dispose of trash properly. Plenty of parking. Right across from the playground is a skate park. There is also plenty of room to run. Very nice park!

And no, I'm not referring to sketchy taboo adult activities - because this is a family park! Like basketball? You can totally play here... when the court isn't flooded... so maybe once a week if you're lucky! There's also a killer juvenile obstacle course for all the junior operators in your family unit - and a legit tire swing with a 100% artificial, non-organic tire to lose your lunch on whilst spinning like a nut-job! Think that's all? No way man! There's grass, lots and lots of grass for your dog to sniff and relieve itself on... just be sure to pack everything out in an air-tight container (cause it's the law)! "Yo, is that a Blackhawk hovering over my head?" You might ask yourself that at least once during your visit here - the answer is yes, but shhhhhhh... OPSEC. Come play kids! PS, only 4 stars for the constant flooding and low level of city maintenance. But it's the safest park in the city!

The meters cost about $2/ hour and the lots vary in price. There is a restroom facility right across the boardwalk from it, which is a plus. This play park is the epitome of accesible parks. It is titled the "Park for Everybody". The amazing park/play area is 15,000 square feet and features wheelchair accessible entrances. It was built in honor of Josh Thompson, an avid beach lover, who lost his battle with ALS. Josh's family wanted to go to the beach, but he stayed behind because of the difficulty of getting his wheelchair to the beach, across the sand and down to the surf. The park is very nice and has a huge jungle gym with a couple of slides, a sculptural of a dolphins, a surfboard, and a wave that children can play on, raised sand tables for sandcastle building at an accessible height, a sensory board for autistic children, Sway Fun glider, and a pebble walk. What I find really cool is that they have fully accessible playground -beach wheelchairs available at no charge, on a first come, first served basis (only during season though). You will also find some cement pads here, with post marking the spots, that are covered with a little sand, making playing in the sand more accessible. Just outside of the park is a nice statue of a man and young boy holding surf boards. The sculpture is on top of a granite base that has the names of donors and the inspiration behind the park inscribed on it. Definitely worth a look. This first of its kind park is a very nice addition to VIrginia Beach's Boardwalk. It is accessible and fun for all kids to play on. They do suggest that it is best for kids aged 5 to 12. I love everything about this park. There should be more of these around.

It has a playground, raised sand trays, and sculptures kids can play on and take photo opps with. It is also an accessible park. The park is very clean overall. -- The Playground -- The playground area with soft foam flooring to minimize injuries (under the sand that got blown over it) is best for younger elementary school aged children. With close supervision it's also good for younger children (note that there are small gaps in the openings along the playground system). The equipment is in mostly good condition with small areas of wear. There are a variety of slides and ways to climb up and access the slides, along with monkey bars and climbing activities. There are also raised, connected walkways connecting the system of slides and a lookout point. The playground is in partial sun with some sections fully shaded by canopies (pictured). -- Benches & Pavilions -- There is one built in table with benches by the front of the playground. There are several benches along the perimeter of the playground. -- Walking Areas -- This is less of a park and more of a large playground situated on a beach. -- Sporting Equipment -- There are no other equipment options other than the playground. -- Amenities -- There are no toilet amenities at the playground, but there are restrooms with plumbing located very close by: 2nd Street Restrooms, which has year-round operation and is managed by the City. -- Parking -- There is a municipal parking lot close by--2nd Street Parking Lot--where any visitors can park for a fee. The next closest lot is Rudee Loop Parking Lot (also a municipal parking lot with a fee). Both are located on Atlantic Ave. There is limited meter parking, too. Visitors to the area staying at the Oceanfront could also walk there. -- Things to Note -- During peak seasonal times, it's usually pretty busy with kids. There is no fence or physical boundary between the park and the water, but it is situated well enough away from the water that it didn't pose an immediate safety concern. -- Takeaways -- This is an large, accessible playground that is a nice option for my toddler when we visit the Boardwalk, and I can see it appealing to families visiting the beach who have kids with varying interests. The main attraction is its playground. If you are at the Boardwalk, it's worth a visit for children. It might not be worth it to you to go out of your way if you don't intend to visit the ocean or Boardwalk, too, or if you aren't interested in its accessibility features. Simply because paying for parking at the Oceanfront and sand in the kids shoes' could be a few minor drawbacks.

It's very big and there are several walking/hiking trails inside the main portion of the park spanning several miles and meandering through a wooded area that follows the marsh. It's well-kept and has multiple entrances from the Shadowlawn neighborhoods. -The entrance from VA Ave has a very small parking lot and then street parking. -The entrance from Indian Rd. has a much larger parking lot with plenty of space and opens to the large, green field with 3 separate play areas for toddlers with climbing sculptures in the shape of frogs and caterpillars. Really cute and has a pavilion and circular paved trail around it. -The entrance from Marshview Dr. has a small lot and this is where the dog park area is as well. Two tennis courts here across the street which are part of a small playground/tennis complex called Salt Marsh Park. Last weekend I finally went for a hike inside and covered about 1/3rd of the likable/walkable space. It's gorgeous! It's also neat bc they have it set up for trail bike riding and it's very well marked and laid-out. I came upon some beautiful areas for sitting and enjoying the view. If you haven't ventured here yet you should give it a try - actually pretty impressive in size and option for a neighborhood co-located park.
