A mega playground climbing structure with many slides, and a smaller one for littles. There's a bathroom here, and it's right across the street from the Fort Bragg library which also has bathrooms. Growing up, this place was known simply as the Ukiah Municipal Park. I'm not sure when the whole Todd Grove thing happened, but it's the in thing to name parks after people. I'm all good with that. Some of the park kid toys are gone, but the giant tractor tires remain. What is it about a giant rubber tire that would get me to spend countless hours entertaining me? The parks iconic symbol to me was always the rocket. Now that was the single biggest childhood attraction for me growing up in the entire town. I still remember the day I felt like one of the big kids when I finally stopped my crying and summited the very top. I swear you could see the Golden Gate Bridge from there. Sir Edmund Hillary has nothing on me. . This park includes two swimming pools, plenty of picnics and countless trees that provide protection and shade from the hot summer sun. I took swimming lessons here as a kid and is where I conquered my fear of the water. I cannot even begin to count the fond memories of this place. From the family summer outings, to the yearly school picnics this place will always hold a special place in my heart.

Folks show up early to stake their claim for prime space, even before the bands show up to start getting ready for their shows. There are food trucks, and sponsor booths giving away various items during the concerts. I was quite impressed with the play equipment the City installed for the community, as well as the fact that they maintain restrooms for public use. I can only hope the concerts continues on for many years to come.

Who names their park "Library", they do. The whole town was there with beach chairs and the band was playing Beatles songs. Food trucks there. Shave ice with more than 20 flavors and you help yourself. How cool. Kids swimming. Raffle winners being announced. I think they have a concert once a month on Friday nights. Look for the flyer or Google it. Summer series. Plenty of picnic tables, playground, and restroom. Bring your chairs and find your spot. Dance the night away.

I did the train, which was okay, but it goes about every hour so it's more worth it if you are there closer to the departing time otherwise you might not want to wait an hour. Confusion Hill is a definite go to stop on a road trip along the 101.

I think part of the charm in a place like this is to just explore. There seemed to be an attraction called the Gravity House ($5 admission) at the top of confusion hill. There is a train that takes folks there from the parking lot ($10 a ride) up to the top. Since it wasn't running when we came, we had to skip the house since it would have been too difficult a walk. At the parking lot level, there's a small cafe selling standard fare (burger, hot dogs, fries). The souvenir shop is large, and all of ended up buying a few things to remember the red woods. Picture taking opportunities are plentiful, and we ended up taking a picture of the Worlds Tallest Freestanding Redwood Chainsaw Carving, 40' foot totem pole. And of course there are very tall redwoods all over the area.

Adjacent tree stands tall with a hallow base. Plenty of room to walk in. Brighter than other sites that are heavily shaded. Disturbingly, several trees lean or have fallen. Awoke by a fallen tree no more than 30 feet away. Starts off like firecrackers then ends with a big crash. No shut eye. Be afraid of them trees. The wild animals come in second. On a positive note, bundle wood are steadily priced at ten dollars.
