I really don't understand why the quarries isn't graded with five stars. This recreation center…read moresits in the midst of a huge complex that includes a church, a high school, and athletic complex, a sports field for the high school, a recreation center and this is the second year we have experienced The Quarries Camps. The campus surrounds a beautiful lake where kayaking and canoeing and fishing all provide fun, while the view of a lake that looks like it's capped in shimmering glass is really special! So I'm now going to focus on the Quarry Camp-and I may open a Yelp location separate for the Camps -(yep -they have multiple camps available). Since my grandsons have been to Quarry Camp two years consecutively it is the one we have the most experience with. They make it very easy to register, sign waivers, choose if you want a full week or to come in whatever days you prefer. I found the cost to be less than many other camps and more than a few camps in our area. I wanted to lock down the weeks we needed early, as our grandson had specifically requested to return here this year. (They did end up offering a discount for booking early and even though we had booked prior to the offer, they didn't hesitate to send me a check for $40 which was the discount amount -immediately after the discount was offered.) Here is a description of the activities included in a full week at Quarry Camp. MONDAY-is a day spent at the camp itself. Getting your child settled in -meet their specific group camp counselors, learn the sign in -sign out process-and most importantly take advantage of the ability to give cash for snacks which they put on a card that can then be used based on your specifications. For example we felt $2 a day was enough for the snack bar daily-so we gave them a $10 bill asking he only be allowed to spend $2/day and they take it from there. The kids have free play the first couple hours in the humongous gymnasium, complete with a large bouncy house in one area, lots of basketballs and hoops, soccer balls etc. After lunch they go up to the "Game Room" which is one of the rooms available upstairs that has pool tables, multiple televisions, air hockey and more. TUESDAY-they all get on a bus and go to a different building with in the compound for a movie , popcorn and a soft drink. After lunch gym play and game room and they go down to the snack bar about 45 minutes before camp ends at 4PM. WEDNESDAY-is water park day! A favorite of all the kids. They can wear or bring appropriate swimwear and water shoes and lots of sunscreen is encouraged. Typhoon Texas is a large water park in Austin. They provide lunch on Wednesday catered at the water park by "Raising Canes" Chicken fingers, fries and tea or lemonade. The kids had a blast with a couple hours available before and after lunch so the kids had plenty of time to experience it all. THURSDAY-is jump park day. A trip to Altitude is in order. Child centered play, with Free time built in. Game Room and Gym when you return. FRIDAY-is a fun filled day which wraps up the week! A picnic, then play along the shoreline of the lake as well as kayaking and canoeing . Some general info: The size of the groups the kids are divvied into (based on age) is manageable and they have adequate staff assigned to each group-however they all work well together for larger activities. Kudo's to the Counselor Team, helpful, -smiling-always cheerfully greeting the child when they arrive in the mornings. We've not experienced any team member that didn't seem happy to be there! The kids bring a water bottle daily along with their lunch-the exception being Wednesday when they have a catered lunch at the water park . Camp hours are 0800-1600 however there is flexibility so coming late or leaving early is permissible. If you want to attend all the group outings you do need to be there by 0930 as that is when the bus leaves. This camp provides a safe, enjoyable camp experience and I'm guessing I will get a request to return next year !!!! Definitely a Five Star experience for our family!

My daughter and her friends had an amazing time exploring the space and playing. They offer a variety of birthday party packages. I opted for the mid-tier package and rented out the whole space. The package I selected included goody bags, cupcakes, and decor which was nice; I appreciated having them handle that and they made good selections. While the space and ease of the preparations were wonderful, I felt a couple of things could've been better: 1. I had a lot of email back and forth with the party planner. She was responsive & answered my questions, but didn't provide much proactive information. It would've been nice to have a touch base phone call to go over final details and logistics the week before the party. 2. For the price I would've appreciated if they included atleast one add-on such as slime or crafts. 3. It is a very tight window - 1.5 hours with only 30 mins in the private room. I wish we could've had a total of 2 hours in the space so it wouldn't have felt as rushed.

When I first walked in through the doors, it gave me pet store vibes right away. I should've turned back but I had already paid for the overpriced tickets. This was definitely not worth $20 per person. It's even more if you pay for the tokens that get you access to extra things like the sloth encounter or a picture with a Disney Princess, which is so random and odd. Princess Jasmine had a whole set up by the lemurs. It was so chaotic inside. The space itself is pretty small and each room is packed with tanks and exhibits of animals. I'm sure this place is pretty busy on a regular basis but we happened to have gone on a day where there was a birthday party. On one hand, you have little kids with balloon pirate swords running around (yes, there's a booth with man doing balloon animals for a few tokens). On the other hand, you have lemurs screaming from their cages. I can't imagine the stress all the animals must be feeling on a daily basis. While I get the whole hands-on, interactive experience aspect, I think this aquarium overdid it to a point where it's impacting the animals' habitats and stress levels. Every open tank was filthy. Even the facility itself is dirty. There's no signs anywhere to ask guests to wash their hands before touching the animals. In fact, there's no one even enforcing a two finger rule or educating visitors on all the animals that people could touch. I was flabbergasted when I saw a child ran to a small open tank, shoved his whole arm in and tried to grab the poor little fish swimming around. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if animals have gone missing from this place. The tegu exhibit was fully out in the open. Even a small child can easily just step over the short glass wall and grab the lizard. I think what shocked me the most was the lack of staff monitoring visitors' behaviors and enforcing the rules on how to handle animals. When I went by the shark tank, I witnessed a lady grab a shark by its tail and attempted to bring it out of the tank. My jaw literally hit the ground when I saw that. Thankfully the shark slapped her in the face with its tail and swam off. When I looked around, I saw an employee by the tank but she didn't say anything and was more focused on passing around these balls of fish bait to the same family that lady was with. I honestly left that "aquarium" angry and feeling incredibly sad for the animals. I would never go back nor would I ever bring my family back here. I've been to aquariums and zoos in developing countries where the animals were better cared for than this place.

I absolutely love EVERYTHING about Switch Willo!…read more I have been riding here for 20 years, alongside my mom and also sister, and we have nothing to say but positive things. Switch Willo took me from my first lesson, all the way to Maclay and Medal finals, to continuing to show after college in the 3'6" AOs and 1.40m high Amateur Jumpers. Glenn and Phoebe (the owners) are classy, caring, and VERY EXPERIENCED! It is a blessing to be trained by such iconic riders. Kirk Berlin is the BEST in the whole world, and puts his heart and soul into the business and SWS's clients and students. The other trainers at the barn are amazing as well, and are very motivated to help train anyone at any age and level. The barn is absolutely gorgeous, well taken care of, and in the BEST location in Austin. There is no where that even compares! If you want to train with a barn who has been in business over 60+ years and is amazing in every way, this is your place. Glenn, Phoebe, Kirk, and the rest of the SWS staff are dedicated to the happiness and development of everyone and it's a blessing to be here.

This huge and picturesque facility sits where the town of Duval once existed in the 1800s, nowadays known as "just north of Duval, nestled between Mopac and US-183." The city has simply mushroomed around it. The stables appear to be clean and the horses well cared for. My girls spent two weeks at summer camp here. There were many teen counselors and while they were sweet and fairly knowledgeable, they didn't share information with each other, so it was necessary to repeat my requests over and over and over. Unfortunately, I find the service, communications and the organization sub-par. They don't return calls. Their voice mail fills up and days can go by before they clear it. They promise information and don't follow up. I even told the owner myself that the number provided on Yelp is wrong, but they haven't bothered to update it. That was several weeks ago. Oh well.
