I didn't want to write this review. I wanted the business to make it right, so I reached out to…read morethem on two separate occasions with no response. I booked myself and six young people for an event that was advertised as family friendly. The class started 30 minutes late (tough for an impatient 7 year old) and then the ONLY instruction was, "I would start with the background." I wish this was an exaggeration. Then the instructor sat behind the desk for the duration of the class. When I've gone in the past, the instructor walked us through the painting while they painted on stage and gave tips, often circulating through the class to see if anyone needed help. Not this time. There were no printed instructions either. There was a monitor that displayed the painting but it went off halfway through the class, leaving us to use our phone screen or our imagination to finish. Despite starting thirty minutes late, it ended on time which cheated us out of our full booking. And then the "instructor" had the nerve to put a tip bucket atop a stool standing between us the door. Everyone has a bad day, but this experience was particularly egregious. Coupled with the company's refusal to acknowledge, apologize, or remedy the problem leaves me no other option than to recommend Google users NOT patronize Painting With a Twist Metairie.

Before I get started on my review of the scouts, I should mention that this location is actually the New Orleans Area Council's headquarters. I've been here many times to sign contracts and visit the scout shop. The scout shop sells merit badges, uniforms and other items. If you're looking for that stuff, come here. Now for the rest of my review. I first joined Boy Scouts at 10.5 years of age. Prior to Boy Scouts I was a member of Cub Scouts. The scouts take a lot of criticism, but I truly believe they helped shaped the man I am today. As a young boy my troop would go on camping trips each month. It was on the trips where I first learned just how beautiful nature actually is. I learned cooking, cleaning, fire building and much more. Imagine being a 11 year old kid and having to plan and cook meals and clean up after yourself. These lessons set the foundation for my love of cooking over an open flame. My troop would also attend a week long summer camp each year. There we would learn various skills while taking merit badge classes. This is where I learned canoeing, sailing, wilderness survival and first aid skills. It also helped instill a love for the outdoors that makes me constantly dream of the woods. That fun time we had each summer at camp led to a job as a counselor when I turned 15. Working at Summer Camp was quite the experience. Even though I was just 15 I was responsible for teaching other scouts merit badges relating to camping, survival and the environment. I had a great time, but never realized the impact I had others till years later when I met some of my former students who raved about how much they had learned and just how fun I had made their camp experience. Those compliments are something I will never forget. Now that I'm an adult I am frequently reminded of my experience in scouts. I am proud that I worked diligently to achieve the Eagle Scout award. Less than 2% of all scouts earn that award and despite the heavy razzing I've taken from colleagues at work, I display my eagle badge prominently in my office. Anytime I have to stand up in front of a large group and talk I am reminded of the winter camp where I earned the public speaking merit badge. I could go on and on about all the skills I learned in scouts and how they relate to my life today, but I think you get the point. In closing I leave you with the Scout Law. I try and live my life according to these guidelines and think the world might be a better place if more people chose to follow them too. A Scout is: Trustworthy Loyal Helpful Friendly Courteous Kind Obedient Cheerful Thrifty Brave Clean Reverent
