I was walking down Forest Ave recently to stop at a nearby restaurant and I came across this store…read more I saw it had all beautiful children's clothes on display and I knew I had a couple of occasions to purchase gifts for coming up so I decided to go in and take a look. As soon as you walk in you are hit in the face with all these gorgeous outfits in tiny sizes for babies broken down between a boy and girl section. It was easy to shop since all the sizing was in order and they literally had the cutest clothes and I knew my friends who were going to receive these outfits as gifts would not be getting them from someone else as if I was to make a purchase at Carters or a Babies R Us. Not to mention the quality and detail of these outfits and the store itself is that of a babies/kids only Bloomingdales or Neiman Marcus without the high prices. I believe it was the owner who helped me find the size I needed and rung me up. She spoke a lot about the different brands and there background and what they specialize in etc. I am definitely going to go back for Christmas presents soon because the selection here is gorgeous.

I couldn't find frilly socks for my 6-month old granddaughter, but Ms. Doria had them for only $5. There is another children's clothing store in town, but I'm afraid to go there because the window display is so fancy that it must be much more expensive than here. By the time I made it through one section of the store, I was sweating like I had just run a marathon in July. Forget trying on clothes--I was trying to stay conscious. The employees looked just as miserable. The poor guy at the register looked ready to faint barely 20 minutes into his shift. I honestly felt bad for him. To make matters worse, even the manager mentioned how unbearable the heat was and practically begged me to tell someone because the staff is suffering. I don't know if the air conditioning was broken or if there simply isn't any, but something needs to be done. Customers shouldn't need electrolyte drinks and a cooling vest just to browse for socks. Great prices, but the temperature inside felt like Primark: The Oven Edition. Please turn the AC on before someone melts into the floor.

My son is large for his age and I was not sure if I should get the 6 month size or the 9 month (mind you he is only 3 months old), and I also was torn between raw silk and polished silk. They overnighted samples of Piccolo Bacio's outfits in both 6 and 9 month sizes for my son to try, and swatches of both silk types. The customer service was fantastic with any questions I had, and the final product came with a garment bag, packaged BEAUTIFULLY, and they threw in a bib with his name and cross for the occassion. House of Fashion now sells their merchandise from a home basement rather than a store (yes they have a home sales license ~ I asked) so they are now more convenient to get to for people who live in Staten Island than those of us who live in Brooklyn (but it was actually kind of fun to take the Staten Island Ferry and then the S44 bus there).
