Awesome place!! My climbing buddy and I came to the Boulder Yard after all of our friends kept…read moresaying "Just go!!!" So we made a day trip of it. First, Steve, the owner, is great. He chatted with us for a really long time, asking about what we were interested in, why we popped in, and on and on. He also told us his own history and the Boulder Yard's history. He gave us a few specific suggestions and ideas, including that his sets are a bit different than most (they are) and, more important, his floor cushioning is very different than most other gyms. It is. It is much MUCH softer than most which is good but he suggested taking a few falls before we went too high just to get used to the feel. It's also like walking on the beach --- walking from one side of the room to the other will wear out your legs. His walls are not textured (mostly) so if you're planning to smear a lot --- well, you won't. But it is more realistic this way. The majority of the place is boulders but he's also got two workout areas with equipment, two separate rooms that he uses to teach some martial arts (didn't catch what kind), and, for the helluvit, a Nintendo/Playstation/whatever setup for, I guess, if you're tired and just want to zone a bit. We'll absolutely be back. We paid $54 for two day passes; quite reasonable I think. Oh, and he does his own woodworking (as do my partner and I). Took a pic of the large benches in the front of his shop. Hand-made from some trees that he grabbed from his own yard. That was cool!!!

Tucked away in the back of an industrial park, this gym offers some great bouldering. Clean, quaint…read moreand a cozy vibe for the experienced and new climber alike.

Chris has been my trainer for a couple months now (since summer 2016). The gym is full of equipment…read morefor martial arts: boxing, jujitsu, grappling if you are interested in that, but I am not. I wanted to train as a powerlifter (even though I'm not so strong lol), so first time I saw the website and pictures, I wasn't so into it, but I gave Chris a try. I"M SO GLAD I DID. I had several trainers before, so I know a good one when I meet one. I'm 130lbs, my 1RM squat is around 180 and 190lbs for DL. Chris knows what he's doing. His style of training is simple but effective so my lift just keep going up every week, but I got bored. So I asked him to switch to body builder kind of workout, and give me a meal plan so I can get ripped and lean AF. so HE DID. I just finished week 4 and its going very well. I got bored of the food so I asked him to give me alternatives. so HE DID. I'm cutting food and still increasing my lift. He listens to your need and create the workout for your need, while other trainer might just tell you what you need and what you don't need. And his rate is unbeatable! I bet you must pay more for anybody else in the area that can give you what Chris can. I am a college student and I still can afford it. I know he's really good at what he's doing, you can tell that the guy loves it too. Give him a chance. I will not regret it. P/S: you can meet Terry-the Duke. google him. your kids will love it there.
