That sure did make things easy the next morning. North Queensferry hardly has any restaurants to speak of, though, and we didn't want to eat in the hotel. We soon realized that Rosyth, a town with a bigger population, was only a couple of minutes away. And then we saw that there was Indian food there. Sold. As one other review says, Taste of India looks pretty dumpy from the exterior. Inside, however, is a different story: It's sharp, clean, colorful, and vibrant--a bunch of locals having a good time on a Friday evening. We silly Americans made a faux pas of some sort right out of the box. As soon as were seated, we noticed some nice-looking chutneys on the table. Now I'm not sure if it's tradition in UK Indian restaurants in general, in Scottish Indian restaurants, or just this restaurant in particular, but we were apparently supposed to order pappadam to go with those chutneys. Our server's obvious puzzlement at our declining this opportunity made it abundantly clear that we were violating protocol. Oh well. The servers were nice to us anyway for the rest of the meal, and the food we did order was fresh-tasting and satisfactory, if a bit lacking in the big flavors you hope for from Northern-style Indian food. Channa chat, achari lamb, sag paneer, and a mixed-veggie dish were good enough. We really appreciated that the vegetable dishes came in half portions at half prices, which allowed for more variety there (maybe this is common in UK Indian restaurants). Overall, in fact, we thought the prices were very fair, given the nice atmosphere. After drinking a bunch of single malt whisky and craft beer over the prior nine or ten days, it was nice to have a proper Tennant's for the first time--not at all bad.

Fat portions and greasy fingers might not sound appetising, but with that being said, Masala Grill sure have found a way to make my mouth water. Having been hit with a late night hankering for something that'll both sate my appetite and leave me with the fulfilling feeling of regret when I phase how much I've munched, we took to just eat. The order was placed in quick fashion, and delivered in the same manner. The 420 munchie box is superfluous, with chicken, donner meat, jalapeno poppers, cheese sticks, onion rings, chips, pakora and rich condiments to boot. The chips themselves are fresh cut, im not sure if its to order or not, but they're fat, though they weren't the best chips to complement the rest of the box, i honestly believe that the chips had a heavy standard to uphold to be in running league. The flavours rang true from start to finish, there was little to no deviation between pieces of pakora, or the onion rings which were made to perfection. The batter isn't always the nicest, though i feel this is a biased comment to add as batter has never been my thing. All in all, i was pretty happy to spend the fair asking price for this box, and more so with the quality of service and the box itself. If you find yourself looking for somewhere to order from, Masala Grill would for sure be worth the look! Happy Grubbing
