Was looking for a new Indian takeaway a few nights ago since our local place now closed, found this on Yelp & thought we'd try.
Firstly, I do have to say, the service was VERY GOOD! I'd been trying to order & pay online via their website, really lovely & varied menu, with lots of tasty looking choices, but had a problem when it came to the payment which I wanted to do by card on the site but couldn't, so took to the phone.
Spoke to a lovely & helpful person, who was great to deal with - ordered all the food again with him, & made the payment from my card. He even very kindly offered us a freebie side dish, or appetiser, whichever we wanted, on the house; really kind & great service as I've said, expecting the meal to arrive within about 45 mins which it did.
The food arrived in the usual plastic containers, all separate of course - 2 chicken dishes, Tikka Makhani & Murg Shas Massala, pilau rice, Aloo Flower Delight, vegetable Samosas & some Peshwari Naan; so far so good.
We've both had quite a bit of Tandoori / Indian food in the past, & so were expecting some really nice flavours, both subtle & more strikingly spicy - the Samosas, rice & Naan were all fine & lived up to expectations, very good in fact, but both the chicken dishes were somehow left wanting by each having quite a gloopy, sweet sauce in which we couldn't really discern any particular flavours, subtle or spicy, just 'sweet'. Hard to describe exactly what I mean, but questionable about cooking from fresh ingredients at the time of order, or just something heated up & therefore losing its flavour from before, I don't know.
Disappointing, considering the high expectations from previous reviews & the wonderful service; honestly can't say if we'll be eating from here again, sorry folks. read more
