This guy is garbage. 15 years ago I was assigned to him at Kerlan-Jobe (he was fired from Cedars when they acquired KJ). MRI showed scar tissue in Hoffa Pad area in knee, simple arthroscopic debridement procedure. I confirmed, pain only in that area, everything else in knee feels 100% Day of procedure he doesn't even come talk to me pre-surgery and they wheel me in without ever talking to him because he runs a mill for $. I wake up to him saying, in addition to scar tissue in hoffa area, he completely removed articular cartilage from the end of my femur where I had a previous cartilage defect and performed a microfracture. Guys, Microfracture is an archaic life-altering procedure that is rarely successful day 1 and if successful fails within 2 years. The previous cartilage defect I had had filled in 100%....100%... and was providing 100% cushion with ZERO pain or symptoms. I wish nothing but bad things in life for this guy and glad Cedars fired him. He thinks short-term $ and sees you only as CPT billing codes, while failing to look long-term and treat conservatively. read more

I waited two hours past my appointment time to be seen. The lobby was packed with people waiting well past an hour after their appointment times. Once I was seen, I spoke to the PA for about 5 minutes then waited another 20 mins for Dr. Kharrazi. Spoke to him for less than 5 mins and it was mostly him recommending surgery and how to schedule it. Very impersonal experience I felt like I was going through a surgery mill. read more

Don't waste your time or money. Saw Dr. Kharrazi's PA. She did not have much to offer. Plus, paperwork for a MRI or a response to an email takes a week which is a challenge when you are in pain. Dr. Kharrazi, is the best surgeon and doctor. He has done 4 Right Rotator Cuff and 1 Right Bicep and it was excellent. I got in car accidents and it tore again. Best bedside treatment and caring and attentive doctor. He has operated on my family also. On a scale from 1 -10 I give him a 15. My experience having surgery with Dr Daniel Kharrazi has been an absolute horror story. It's now been a little over three years since I had what I would have considered relatively minor surgery for my right torn medial meniscus. It was a small tear and should've been a pretty straightforward and easy surgery, as far as knee surgeries go. The only issue of pain I had before the surgery was with lateral mobility, which was a problem because I like to play tennis. But I was never in pain on a regular basis and, as a lifelong athlete, engaged in all kinds of other activities, particularly swimming, biking, and other strength building activities, including lunging, squatting, and leg pressing. My leg strength was particularly strong going into the surgery as I wanted to rebound quickly after the surgery. After the surgery, Dr Kharrazi told me the surgery went great and that he cleaned up not just the torn meniscus but lots of other things in the knee joint. But my knee never felt good after the surgery and has never recovered. Today, I have pain nearly 100% of the time and that pain flares up even when I do activities like biking and swimming. I have done official physical therapy four times since the surgery plus a lot of things on my own, but I have been unable to work around the dysfunction in the joint that is now present that was not there prior to the surgery. In short, even three years later, the knee is about five times worse than prior to the surgery. I have no idea what actually occurred during the surgery to cause the dysfunction in the joint and the significant pain that I now feel. Dr Kharrazi, while perfectly friendly, has never acknowledged making any mistakes during the surgery or that anything went awry. In a follow up visit, he admired how good the picture of my knee looked now in an MRI versus before the surgery. When I explained to him that I'm in pain virtually all the time now, he told me "you can't tell me that the picture of the MRI doesn't look better after the surgery then before the surgery ". Going to Kerlan Jobe, an agglomeration of some of the best surgeons in the world, it never occurred to me that I could end up so dramatically worse as a result of such a basic surgery. If I were a professional athlete, my career would certainly be over by now. Since I'm not a professional athlete with notoriety, I'm simply left to deal with the consequences. I consider having the surgery with Dr Kharrazi as one of the worst thing that has happened to me in 50 years and I deeply regret that I entrusted my health and well-being to him. Dr. Kharrazi did meniscus surgery for my husband. The surgery went well however the office staff was impossible to work with. #1 You live in the dark hoping that your paper work is being processed. You only get answering machines and unanswered messages. It's incredibly frustrating. #2 you will literally only see Dr. Kharrazi for a couple minutes at your appointments. Like he's just doing a cameo shot in a movie. You will be dealing with his medical assistants the whole time. #3 you go into surgery with your fingers crossed and a prayer. Hoping that it will turn out good based on his reputation. #4 and if you are filing disability be prepared to be dealing with answering machines and emails because no one is available to help. The surgery turned out well but unless you are an A LISTER YOU WILL FEEL LIKE A NUMBER. Only gave 3 stars because the surgery went fine . Otherwise thumbs down on this experience. read more

went to dr kharazzi to get a partially severed tendon fixed. He quickly agreed I needed surgery and assured me this would be much less painful then the pain I was currently in. Since that was not a whole lot I agreed to the surgery and he got me in 2 weeks after my first appointment. The surgery seemed to have gone well, the only problem was the staff never got the note I don't respond to morphine so I After the surgery I woke up in the most pain I ever experienced. I had to tell the nurses Morphine doesn't work on me while shivering from the crazy amount of pain. In his after surgery brief the dr told me he had to fix some other stuff in my shoulder but the tendon was fine and didn't need to be fixed. I was lucky! But the healing process after surgery was long and extremely painful. I never got to see the dr himself ever again but only his assistants. The office is practically impossible to reach and you have to communicate by leaving voice mail messages for the various nurses. For the pain he had me on percocet and vicadin for 2 months, I never knew how addictive this crap is and figured the doc knows best but when I finally got of them I realized just how addictive these are it was very hard to get off them! (I basically did not sleep for a week) The worst part though was the pain that never really fully went away, my arm and shoulder kept hurting and it actually got worse again. When I finally could not take the it anymore I went back to dr kharazzi, he ordered another MRI and lo and behold: the diagnosis was a partially severed tendon! I told him that was what I was supposed to be operated on and he now denies this, which really disgusts me! He actually told me that surgery for a partially severed tendon would not even be possible with arthroscopic surgery (not true) and that I never had this before the surgery. He now advised against surgery but told me I should take ibuprofen to fight the inflammation. He also refused to give me a Cortisone Injection even though he knew this had been inflamed for months. I can not believe he actually did this to me, I feel he messed me up even more then I was before surgery and the fact he denies his mistake makes it even worse. How the man is even allowed to call himself a doctor is an absolute mystery to me! read more

My 15 year old daughter was injured in Oct 2013, and is in need of ACL & menicus reconstruction surgery. We were referred to Dr Kharrazzi by the fire dept. We scheduled an appointment with Dr Kharrazi, which we had to wait 3 1/2 weeks to been seen. Then 2 days before the expected appointment date we get a call from his office to cancel our appointment and to reschedule sometime in Jan. of 2014, This is 4 months after her injury. I know we are not a high profile patient, but I can't believe that they don't care or treat their patients with any respect. Even after talking with office manager, they were not able to try and fits us in, or figure a way for us to be seen immediately. So nice that the doctor decided at the last minute to take a week off, at the expense of his patience. However, this doesn't give anyone much confidence in his patient care. read more

Dr. Kharrazi is outstanding. He is professional and very knowledgeable. His staff helped me to understand my diagnosis and procedure to which was needed in order to treat my injury. The process from my first appointment to surgery and recovery were very detailed and professional. The only thing I had to do was heal and recover. Dr. Kharrazi took care of the rest. He provided all the equipment I needed during and after the process. He was very supportive and helpful. I reccomend if you have any knee injury, let Dr. Kharrazi help you. Such is the case when I met Daniel Kharazzi at Kerlan & Jobe Orthopedic Center. I had heard he was the best. He is knowledgeable in his field and had a decent support staff. Dr. Kharazzi was very confident, some would say overly confident but that was a plus for me. He very straight with "no chaser" and you know just what is what when dealing with him. I am now 2 surgeries later for rotator cuff repairs (one a repair on a surgery done by another physician). My shoulders are great and continue to be on the mend. I have had an elbow issue for several years causing a progressive pain, numbness and weakness in my left arm and hand. I am thankful to have found Dr Kharrazi and his staff to address this problem. On my initial visit, I was treated politely and efficiently by the office staff and it just got better. I didn't mind that he is a busy doctor, because based on friends that have referred him I already knew he was in high demand. But, even though he and his staff are busy, they make you feel comfortable and that you are important to them. I had a second rotator cuff tear repair done by Dr. Kharrazi at the Beverly Hills surgery center. Everyone I spoke to, from the Dr. in the Bay Area who did the first one and referred me, to the pre op technicians to the PT guy to the medical device company who delivered my ice machine said I was LUCKY to get him... That he was "Gifted" and more like a "Magician" than a surgeon. My recovery time this second surgery with him was cut in half. His aggressive approach to PT helped save me from frozen shoulder post op... I am still healing, and still in PT, but feeling WAY better this time around than I did with the first surgery. I have had surgery from Dr. Kharrazi for my shoulder and knee. I am also going back next week to look at my other knee. My wife has had surgery from Dr. Kharrazi on her shoulder and knee also. He is the best. Both my knee and shoulder are much better and I can sleep on my shoulder now. He gave me medicine, including Vicodin and explained what it was. I would never go to another doctor. Choosing a surgeon is a big deal, so I'll tell you my story in detail. Your results may vary. I am a sixty-five year-old active man (sixty-four at the time of my surgery). Early in 2013 I woke up with a sore shoulder. I thought I slept on it wrong, but the pain persisted -- no known injury to cause it. In the past, light excercise would clear up such discomfort in a few weeks, but this time, the pain persisted; certain motions, like reaching behind me, were seriously painful. In May I decided it was time to have it looked at. I agree with the previous poster: If you know a physical therapist, ask who the surgeons are who do the best work. The therapists see the outcomes of all the docs in the area; if you can get one to tell you, trust the advice. But that's not really an option for most of us, and in my case, I trusted Kerlan-Jobe. I have seen several doctors in the Kerlan-Jobe practice a number of times over the last thirty years, and their docs have always given me excellent care. I called the office and asked for a shoulder doctor and made an appointment with Dr. Kharrazi in the Pasadena office. On my first visit, I didn't see him at all, but was worked-up by a medical assistant and an in-house X-ray tech, and sent off with an Rx for an MRI (which was done by Burbank Radiology). On my next vist I met Dr. Kharazzi. He's a self-confident man with with a sense of humor. (Ok, maybe not the best bedside manner; opening words, "The good news is you don't have cancer.") He explained that my MRI showed a torn tendon and rotator cuff and that I would need surgery to have it repaired. I asked him if he was familiar with this surgery. "Oh yeah, I've done fifteen thousand in the last fifteen years." Ok, sounds like some experience, but there's a downside here: If you do the math, he's doing a thousand surgeries a year, which is about twenty a week. So if you require a lot of warm-and-fuzzy face time with the doc, Kharrazi is probably not your man. By far the most time you're going to spend with him will be when you're under anesthesia. You will be worked-up by his well-oiled staff of medical assistants, and spend most of your office visits with them. His is a busy practice, so if you require a lot of hand-holding, he may not be the doc for you. But if you're looking for an expert shoulder surgeon, Dr. Kharrazi is your man. I had surgery on June 10th, 2013. (By the way, the staff at the Kerlan-Jobe surgery facility in the Howard Huges center is top-notch . Everyone from the receptionist who did the paperwork to the prep nurses and recovery room nurses were friendly and extremely professional. You'll have about as good a time as you could have going into and out of a surgery.) I write this in mid-October: I couldn't be happier with my outcome. I have full range of motion and almost no discomfort. My strength is good and improving every day. In fact, I had great range of motion and minimal discomfort right after surgery to the point that I almost reinjured it because it kept forgetting about it. (Full disclosure: When Dr. Kharazzi got an actual look into my shoulder during surgery, he determined that the damage did not require the full repair indicated by the MRI. Rather, he removed a bone spur and debrided the tendon tears, which I guess is not as extensive as a full rotator-cuff repair. But I'm getting past the area of my full understanding here. ) I had minimal need for pain medication, had good range of motion right after surgery, and an excellent recovery. Back to the physical therapy -- I went to Select Physical Therapy in the same office in Pasadena as Kerlan-Jobe (though they are separate companies). The therapists there think highly of Dr. Kharrazi, and I met a couple of his patients who also had excellent outcomes with their shoulder surgeries. So five stars for Dr. Kharazzi from me, though I was a bit disappointed when I went for an optional follow-up apointment after turning sixty-five to learn that Dr. Kharrazi does not accept Medicare, which is about the only minus I'd give him. I'm glad I was covered by private insurance when my problem arose, but the bottom line is I'd just have to find a way to pay him as a cash patient if I ever were to need shoulder surgery again. read more

Dr. K did my ACL/Meniscus repair after a severe trauma to my right knee in a ski accident. He was incredible and very precise about every step along the way.
