I have nothing but praise for the surgical expertise of Dr. Weber. In April of this year, he performed a stemless R shoulder replacement on me. I realize experiences may vary, but I can now sleep for the first time in years. My shoulder is pain-free, and my active and passive GH range of motion is fantastic. I tore my ACL on a Sunday and was able to get an appointment with Dr. Weber on Monday and an MRI the next morning after and we were able to schedule another appointment and go over what happens during surgery and physical therapy and everything. He was so amazing and explained everything so clearly and his PA Stephanie is such a wonderful knowledge of wealth and during the day of my surgery, they both came up to me beforehand to explain everything and ask if I had any questions and they performed everything perfectly and I am day, one out of surgery and actually able to stand on both feet and almost able to walk already with the help of Physical therapy! Dr. Weber is the only surgeon I trust. After competitive gymnastics, dance, and youth national level and Division I soccer, I had my fair share of sports-related injuries. When I needed hip surgery, I did extensive research into dozens of surgeons before deciding to get surgery with Dr. Weber, and it could not have gone better. He is not only an excellent surgeon, but also follows up with his patients and cares about the longterm results. My hips are now 100% back to normal. Zero pain. Before the surgery I was not able to walk. I was on crutches. I can dance and do aerial silks with nearly the same range of motion as before. I don't push my hip range of motion anymore because as an adult in my mid-thirties, I don't want another tear, but the quality of the surgery has allowed me to get back to a high level of activity. I plan to continue to see him for my knee, and I recommend him to everyone that I know! read more

I'm really sorry to report that Dr. Weber was unable to give proper guidance and care in the aftermath of my son's sports injury. His office visits typically involved about an hour to an hour and a half wait - followed by giving almost no time to answer questions or understand my son's medical issues. I would have gladly put up with the wait and often condescending tone in the visits if he had actually helped my son heal his injury. After many months of no improvement (and little to no guidance) our family moved on to a different orthopedist. I'm happy to report that this orthopedist was terrific and helped my son return to his chosen sport in a very short period of time. I hope other families out there can also find an orthopedist who can help them. read more

Another prime example of why medical care is expensive and frustrating. This a review of my first visit, which was, unfortunately, a typical medical office experience with redundancy and an unnecessary test. PROS: Staff was pretty nice and the parking was free. will update to more positive if they don't charge me for 2 items explained below... Here is the recount of my visit: Checked in (typical wait in lobby and answering redundant questions electronically AND on paper). Sent to exam room and Technician 1 sat at the computer. Here is the summary of the conversation and further conversations with staff: Tech 1: you need an x-ray Me: I had an MRI done last week. Why do you need an x-ray? Tech 1: Do you have the CD? Me: No - my doctor's office received results though. Can you retrieve them? Tech 1: Where did you have the MRI done? Me: _____ in Pasadena. Tech 1: If you did not do the MRI here (at USC/Keck), and you don't have the CD, then we will have to log on to view. Me: (at this point, I am trying to avoid x-rays since one avoid being exposed to x-rays. I should have said, please retrieve the images, then check with the doctor to see if the x-rays are necessary.) [shows lack of concern for other health issues someone might be facing.] Tech 2 enters: I am going to take you to get x-rays shortly Me: I had an MRI done already. Why do I need an x-ray? Do they need both for diagnosis Tech 2: Sometimes Me: OK (reluctantly I agreed. At this point, I should have insisted.) [Again, an opportunity to ask before exposing me to x-rays, but they don't care nor do they think about it] Tech 3 (x-ray tech): (was really nice and polite) Back to exam Room, enter PA with note-taker: Me: You are the third person I am telling - I had an MRI last week at ____. PA: Oh, I didn't know that. We can log into the portal and view the images. Who were the ones you told, were they here? Me: Yes, the previous 2 people I saw. (We proceeded to talk about injury) Doctor enters with note-taker: Doc: pulls up images from MRI to show me how they determine diagnosis. It was an easy explanation per the MRI image. Asks me same questions as PA, so redundant evaluation. [He does NOT show me results from the x-rays, so clearly did not need the x-ray like I suspected. ] CONS: Will probably get charged for 2 unnecessary things: the x-ray, and the extra doc or PA consultation. Other take-aways that make this place a could-be-better experience: Directions signs to buildings and parking are a little unclear - it is a steep hill and luckily saw a picture of the building before I got there. There are multiple buildings/parking structures to rule out. I get that this office is a sports medicine / orthopedic but they have pictures of USC Trojan sports teams blown up on the walls all over (in an obnoxious way), perpetuating the USC graduate stereotype (it is laughable), not to mention the staff tumblers and athleisure wear. Generic photos would suffice The bottom line was that the diagnosis was already made at the imaging center a few days prior - I knew this because my primary care received the results / images and told me. I wish the primary care could have simply recommended to go to physical therapy to avoid this waste of time and money. If they had simply retrieved the MRI immediately prior to the doctor seeing me to avoid the x-rays, then they would get have gotten a solid review from me. read more

Take everything this doctor, or any doctor, says with a grain of salt. I was impressed by him at first, unfortunately it seems. The one upside from the experience was that I learned that patients can be as smart or smarter than some of their doctors. In the end, you know your body. If something seems off, trust your instinct. read more

I've been Dr. Weber's patient since 2021, when I was diagnosed with an upper hamstring tear and sciatic compression. He was at first extremely likeable and knowledgeable with great bedside manner. The surgery seemed to go well, and I was up walking quickly. The trouble began 3 months post surgery, when swelling behind the knee, clicking in my hips, and then severe feet problems began...with eventual calf tears and more hamstring tears. Dr. Weber, Stephanie Flores and his unreliable (aka rotating) staff began a rapid descent into poor bedside manners, inept paperwork and approvals handling, lying and now ghosting (2024). I asked him if he cared to still be my doctor (got an eyeroll after this) and that his hamstring surgery still prevents me from running, dancing...even just walking, sitting normally. When he couldn't explain the unsuccessful outcomes, he tried to pawn me off to another for a second hamstring opinion. That doctor diagnosed me with a L5, S1 spine issue (wonder why Dr. Weber never thought to check this but okay). Despite this, the leg tears (Dr. Weber's domain) continue. I went back to him despite disappointing results because I could get quick appointments via USC, but the more trouble and pain my leg had, the less Dr. Weber would do besides get me a new brace and more PT. In fact, he became so obnoxious with his eyerolls, scoffing and impertinent body language, I would only talk to and see his Physician's Assistant, Stephanie Flores. In August 2024, I tore my lower hamstring, and his office didn't get the MRI approved correctly. After Alex's administrative assistant lied to me about calling me, I've had to make a complaint...and this of course has led to ghosting and patient abandonment. In other words, don't buy into Alex's charming, accessible, youthful nature. It's just an act to do surgery with him. Afterward, he and his staff flake out (especially for unsuccessful outcomes). God forbid, he takes any accountability and humbles his large ego. Maybe you're not a brilliant doctor as you think you are. Out of context perhaps, but if I were you, try to find someone who doesn't say "Yeehaw" as you go into surgery...or gives you a survey on how much you think orthopedic surgeons make at USC. That was definitely sophomoric behavior, even for a Millenial like him. read more

I had been struggling with hamstring / glute pain for years as a runner and dancer, and finally saw Dr. Weber on a rec from a friend. Physical Therapy just wasn't cutting it and I suspected there was a more serious issue. After thoughtful consultation and an MRI, I did one hamstring repair and then, after 6 months of recovery, had the other one repaired. That was in 2018, and I have been back to running and strength training, with improved flexibility and mobility. Dr. Weber gave me great care and his work both in the OR and throughout other discussions and consultations transformed my body for the better. read more

I had a hamstring reattachment surgery with Alex in 2019. I was 59 years old at the time and had been suffering for about 8 years before the surgery (other docs told me there was nothing they could do about it, that it was a "nuisance injury," or that I had to increase my pain tolerance!). My whole experience with Keck and Alex was very positive. I experienced Alex to be smart, kind, a good listener, and professional in the best ways. He set my short-term expectations realistically and correctly predicted a good outcome. During the recovery, he was accessible by text and made time for me to come in if I felt unsure about anything (this was my first big surgery, so I needed reassurance about the pace of healing). His team was also exceptional. Throughout my recovery, I felt cared-for and supported. Every year or so, I send Alex a photo of myself doing something I never dreamed I'd be able to do again pre-surgery, like climbing a mountain, swimming across a lake or even sitting and reading a book in comfort. (I was planning to post one of those pictures here for my 5th "anniversary," but Yelp won't accept photos.). But when I read some of these recent reviews, I had to respond. We traveled from Florida to receive medical care from Keck and ultimately, Alex. My husband will need a shoulder replacement in a few years. I expect we'll be coming back to see Alex again when he does. read more

Dr. Weber was the 4th orthopedist I have seen in the three years since I injured my knee. Attempting to avoid surgery, I have tried PT 2x and injections 3x. After a 3rd doctor said that I needed a full knee replacement in my early 40s, I knew I needed another opinion. Dr. Weber and all the staff at the El Segundo location were kind, professional, and thorough. After reviewing my 3rd MRI and a new Xray he said I do not need a full knee replacement, but will need a much simpler procedure with a much faster recovery time. I nearly cried in relief/joy. After years of pain and frustration, Dr. Weber not only gave me answers, but laid out a plan of action right then and there. I wish I could give more stars! read more

Words are inadequate to describe my family's incredible experience with talented Dr. Alexander Weber. His bedside manner is amazing and his knowledge is superior. His follow-through and patient care is truly superlative. I have never met a doctor with better attention to detail and his patients than Dr. Weber. He is truly only a text a way for any patient need that should arise and his staff does a magnificent job with efficiency in getting approvals for MRIs and surgery. They even went so far as to get Physical Therapy set up and ensure that my son had an ice machine prior to his surgery. I've never encountered a more thorough and efficient office staff. Dr. Weber treated me for a hip injury and was so conservative in his approach. I appreciated how he isn't so keen on recommending surgery immediately when it isn't necessary. As a mom of three active boys, Dr. Weber has also been the doctor of choice for any sports injury my sons have had. He operated on my oldest son for a torn meniscus and while my son was quick to desperately ask for a "just a meniscal trim" so he could return to sport immediately, I appreciated Dr. Weber's comment to my son which was, "I appreciate your desire to return to sport, but it is my job to ensure your knee is as healthy as it can be 20 or 30 years from now and that is a full repair as opposed to just a trim." Dr. Weber is always thinking about what is in the patient's long term best interest. He also treated my other son for a lower back injury sustained during high school sport. Most recently, he treated my other son for a shoulder issue, again, with such thorough and conservative care, ensuring that he had the best treatment for long term success. Dr. Weber is our go-to orthopedic surgeon, and I have referred numerous friends of mine and of my sons who have all gone to him for surgery and injuries. We all share the same fondness and appreciation for this skilled and talented doctor who has been nothing but a true pleasure from start to finish. I feel incredibly fortunate to have Dr. Weber and his staff at the helm of orthopedic care for my family and I know there is no one more skilled, trusted or talented than him. read more

This was a top notch experience, start to finish. I really felt listened to, and as an (ahem) older woman, that can be hard to find in the medical field (at times).
