We found Khao Soi when on a short road trip and looking for a good food recommendation on Yelp while in the Port Orchard area. We found the restaurant no problem and street parking was easy. The restaurant was clean and great decor inside and a friendly worker quickly guided us to a table and started working on our Thai Ice teas. Delicious as we'd hoped! The food arrived shortly after. Everything we tried was very fresh and high quality ingredients, The spice level was perfect and the over all quality of the meal was top notch. As mentioned, we were on a road trip and don't live close by, but we've managed to find an excuse to come back two more times. My recommendation would be the beef massamun curry! The first time I ever had Thai food was at a small place that fed the Thai Airline crew and the server explained to me different dishes and highly recommended this dish. We were finally able to dine at the Port Orchard location, and it was a mixed experience. While the restaurant was clean, and the decorations tasteful, the space seemed oddly laid out (the very large bar in the middle of the dining room seemingly sitting unused). The service was underwhelming from the start. There seemed to be two waitresses working, but neither of them seemed overly enthusiastic to be there. Neither ever engaged in any polite conversation, just seated us, took our order, delivered it to our table, brought the bill - simply going through the motions. The food was also a bit underwhelming (especially after reading all of the five-star reviews). We ordered the pad see ew with chicken and the pineapple fried rice. The meat in both was terrible - completely overcooked. While the flavor of the pad see ew was at least good, the flavor of the rice was one note (and that note was curry flavored). For $20+ per entree, we expected more. Perhaps this was just an off night (as other reviewers seem to have had better experiences), but it was not a great look for our first visit. Pro-Tip: Come after 6:00pm, so you can park across the street (without breaking parking rules). read more

This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the PNW, and definitely one of the best in Kitsap county. The staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant ambiance is casual and laid back with nice decor. One of my favorite dishes is the Panang curry, which is absolute perfection with its balance of sweet and spicy. I also always order their Phad Thai, which always tastes fresh and hand made. I also am a big fan of the Angry Ocean fried rice, which not only features a lot of seafood, the dish also has an elevated flavor that is deeper than any other fried rice that I have had. Delicious late lunch at Khao Soi on Saturday! My mom and I were surprisingly the only ones in the restaurant but it was such a beautiful day and the natural lighting of the windows made the restaurant so welcoming! We split the crab wontons, crispy garlic shrimp, and seafood pad see ew. The crispy garlic shrimp was hands down my favorite (the sauce - omg)! Loved the seafood pad see ew but will note it's VERY seafood fragrant (and this is coming from a girl that looooves all seafood and raw fish) so just a warning if you don't love seafood you may not love this one. He's writing an update already? He was just there a couple of weeks ago! That I was. But a new visit is a new experience. My son and I followed our tradition and ate Thai food after seeing a movie together. The food here remains delicious but more on that in a bit. The service is much improved from the first greeting at the door to the table service. The two servers on duty were a young man, who was also the host, and a woman who arrived shortly after we had given the host/server our orders. The woman brought water and my order of Thai Iced Tea while while the host served the Crab Wontons and our entrees. Both were great on checking back with us during our meal. Their service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. While my son ordered his favorite--Pad See Ew with beef, I ordered a dish new to me: Hung Lay, a red curry with delicious chunks of pork (the menu said 'fatty pork' but the meat was lean and tender enough to be pork shoulder or maybe pork tenderloin), sliced ginger, peanuts and other goodies. I ordered it at the #3 spice level (their highest) and I think it attained that honestly. Our host/server told us that if we wanted our dishes spicer he would bring some red pepper flakes. My son said his Pad See Ew--which he also also ordered at the #3 spice level--wasn't hot at all to him, but then he has a high hot chili pepper tolerance level. A habanero pepper doesn't faze him so take that into consideration. Khao Soi remains a welcome addition to Port Orchard. It's got a laid-back, very friendly vibe,. replete with soft jazz music playing over the house speakers. It's truly a joy to eat here. read more

Gorgeous interior! Empty around lunchtime which always makes me nervous on whether it's good but it's also a brand new location. I throughly enjoyed this spot. There was one waitress who was pleasant. The food was great! I was looking for Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) which they have a version of but with different noodles. They did have my second favorite the Pad See Ew and it was delicious. I only wish they had more options as weak as Thai tea or coffee which I usually order with my Thai food but it was great and the prices were reasonable. read more

Received WRONG order on Takeout...it was not busy and there was no rush. I Was very disappointed . I made it clear i did not want a dish containing any fake crab. Ordered Crab Fried Rice $24.95 after being told by waitress crab is real "deep sea". It was a sea food dish that contained shrimps, no crab and was definitely Not fried rice...a string bean soupy sauce , shrimps and what appears to be small scallops...and Krab(fake) strings ...with white rice. Absolutely amazing meal!! I had the stir-fried eggplant, and it was incredible! The texture, different vegetables, basil, and taste were all amazing. My husband had the stir-fried vegetables, which wasn't as flavorful (to me), but could be good if you like a more mild flavor. We were on a trip looking for some lunch, but the coffee shop we stopped at was out of food. They directed us down the street, and I'm so glad they did. I love this spot everytime I stop by Port Orchard; definitely one of my favorite Thai places now. I've been here on two occasions now. The first time, I ordered the Khao Soi, which was an unexpected delight with the crispy noodles, but the flavor was top notch. Second time, I ordered the Angry Ocean fried rice. I normally don't order fried rice but Thai places typically load the plate with food, and this was one of those spots. So much food my mouth was watering as soon as I saw the plate haha. Nice atmosphere for the most part, soft music in the background. The service was friendly and attentive. The wine (champagne and Cabernet Sauvignon) was good, especially for the modest price. The chicken pad Thai was hot and enjoyable - and the ice cream with peanuts was ok. My main complaint - a pet peeve of mine - is when there's a lot of noise coming out of the kitchen (stacking plates) and servers start moving chairs and tables around near you when you're still eating. I mentioned this to two of the servers and they said it was because they were closing soon. But the entrees weren't inexpensive; a restaurant is selling both the food and the ambiance - so it's not cool to make a lot of noise during someone's dinner. read more

We had lunch here on a rainy Saturday and it was nearly empty. Surely, people just haven't realized it's there yet? The Bremerton one is packed usually. It's the perfect lunch spot after a wander round the little shops in the area and the waterfront. Service was attentive, food was fantastic. Didn't get a picture but a really delicious green papaya salad we shared, the dressing was balanced and flavorful. Then he had the pork curry (so well made) and I had Angry Ocean fried rice. I love a good Thai fried rice, and points for not just artfully placing the seafood across the top. I get it, that's expensive stuff, so what a treat to realize there were more shrimp, scallops and calamari throughout the dish. Everything was so good, one of the best meals we've had in Kitsap. Walked in after the parade, even though a cook was outside smoking on the sidewalk. We were seated, brought menus & water. Then the only noticeable employee never returned. After waiting about 15 minutes for somebody to take our order we picked up & left because she was sitting at the bar staring at her phone. We will never know if the food is any good. read more

We came in for a quick lunch and it was pretty much empty aside from one other table. Within 5 minutes of getting sat, an 18 top walked in. You could tell Maya was a little overwhelmed, but she handled it with such poise and determination. Then her other tables quickly filled up as well. I forgot to mention...she was the ONLY front of house worker there. No hostess, no busser, no bartender, no other server...you get the picture. Even with have a full restaurant, we had excellent service still. The phone started ringing off the hook when she was taking the large tables order, but she didn't even flinch. I commend you Maya! We have been here between 13-15 times since this location has opened. Unfortunately it seems that the quality of the food has continued to go down. When they first opened we thought the food was SO good. Now we consistently have pad see ew or pad thai come out in a single clump of cold noodles, or duck curry which tastes a little old/off. In addition to the fact that they are consistently out of items on the menu. The service as well has become a little lackluster. Often the server will forget about us as they do dishes leaving us waiting to enter an order. We've even had issues with takeout and being double charged because they couldn't figure out how to work the card machine. This then required us to call back multiple times to have the extra charge refunded (as the first time they said they would process the refund they did not) I don't typically write these reviews but we love the location in downtown port orchard and the food was so good when they first opened. The best tasting Massamam curry I've had in the USA. Big chunkks of tender beef. Onions and carrots were excellent, potatoes didn't measure up to the other elements but the curry sauce was so good I'd glady go out of my way to go here again. More than enough such that I had a meal to take home. Service was excellent, attentive without being instrusive and helped me decide between two choices. I really liked the atmosphere and would have liked to try the bar but I was both driving and tired so I didn't. Sadly it was our first time here & the food was really disappointing. I'll be honest and say the photos online had us bamboozled. Quality & quantity plus presentation just wasn't there. Crab fried rice but the crab was nearly nowhere to be found mostly rice and eggs and A LOT of onions. Ordered the chicken pad see ew and it came out with the most fishiest and burnt smell and tasted burnt and very salty. Thai tea was the only highlight for me. I also ordered the garlic chicken to go for my husband. I should've opened it before I left. 5 pieces of chicken and not crispy at all. Mostly vegetables. Truly disappointing to see that nothing looked or tasted like I expected. Mind you I have been to similar restaurants who serve the exact same items. One place in particular Noi Thai. Absolutely amazing quality. This was by far the worst experience I've had. I will not be revisiting khao soi unfortunately. read more
