My friend and I went for dinner at 6pm. Right from the get go we knew it was gonna be bad . There were toys thrown on the floor , kids running around screaming. The waitress that took our drink order seemed like she didn't want to be there. After we filled our veggie bowl we noticed there wasn't any beef . When we asked the lady she said there wasn't anymore, that they were done for the day .... What the heck!? We got there at 6! Not 8:45. I've been to numerous Khans locations throughout the years and never EVER had they run out of anything before . Needless to say we just left. So anybody in the Rio Grande Valley knows about Khan's grill. It's a great go to and never seems to let me down. For the quality of food, freshness, and ability to dictate the food outcome (flavor) I'm giving it a 5 Star. This is why: I like that you can measure the quantities of meat and vegetables for your meal. Hey have a wide variety of meats from beef to chicken to shrimp. You also have a pretty good selection of noodles. At the end of the plate set up you can season your food . For which for me is great cause I can really put that extra little flavor into the meat. When you leave that you go to the grill and you wait while the food is being cooked on the huge wok grill. It's a nice little touch while you wait and get asked the type of oil or or sauce you would like. I tend to always get the classic house sauce aka Mongolian sauce with a little hot sauce. They follow the food up with a small piece of bread (which you can order slightly toasted) and you have a choice of fried or steam rice. Either way, you can't go wrong. The portions are pretty generous and you won't leave starving. Believe that! You can request an egg to be cooked on the wok grill just in case you need more flavor. The food comes out hot , fresh and you saw it all the way through. This place can get busy but it's flow through it all goes pretty smooth. I have only gone to this place one time and left a little disappointed . The cook forgot to put enough oil and everything was a little dry. This place runs around 10 dollars if memory serves me correctly (could be wrong). For all these reasons I believe Kahn's grill deserves a 5 Star. First of, unless you love pasta, don't get any! save room for your veggies if you're a huge veggies fan like me. They offer steam rice and fried rice at the very end for your carb option. The meat selection is somewhat limited. They have mixed seafood, chicken, beef, and I think pork as well, but never got it so I might be wrong. Doesn't bother me cause all I want every time are seafood and beef so works out just fine. I love the wide selection of spices that you can add to your stir fried. Also, they have several different types of oil for you to choose from along with the sauces. So all the spices, oils, and sauces, that should give your meal plenty of flavors. After they are done stir frying your food, you get to pick either steam or fried rice and all the meals come with a house roll which surprisingly delicious. The price is extremely reasonable. I only wish they have the all you can eat option, but maybe it's a good thing that they don't. Otherwise I'd keep coming back and start blowing up like a barrel. read more

This was a first for me. My noodles and veggies were burnt and when management was told he expected me to pick out the veggies and protein and they would replace the noodles ONLY. I did not agree with that option so they reluctantly allowed me to get an entire new plate. Management went to the grill and then yelled out to me that it was my fault my food was burnt because I didn't season my food correctly. WTH?! Very unprofessional and rude. I was not the one who cooked my food so this was not my fault. Also the sauce they use they shouldn't put the same amount of sauce on all plates because each plate has a different amount of food whey to salty. I will not be coming back again. Love this place! You go in, the servers greet you. You can tell them what drink you want, then you go to the back for bowls. Vegetables, noodles, and meats are offered cafeteria-style, and you select what you want them to cook for you. Once you get up to the grill, you pick from a variety of sauces or oils that you wish the chefs to use to cook your meal. You stand there while it's being cooked on a huge grill and you can see what everyone else has chosen. They ask if you want white or fried rice, and they scoop it all on a plate. Next time, I'll ask for them to put it in a to-go box cause it's more than you can eat in one sitting. It is delicious & fresh. You can order egg rolls from the server, and I always have to have an egg roll. They are delish!! It smells great in there. There are tvs up on the walls. I think they have a liquor license but I've only ordered soft drinks. One of my favorite places to eat. Not the cheapest, but considering you are getting 2 meals, it works out. I found a new love (Mongolian food) and it all was thanks to this place! I had heard nothing but good things about this place and finally decided to drop by and give it a try. I got to say I sure didn't regret it and especially after trying their "House Sauce" with teriyaki and a bit of hot sauce. If this is your first time trying this place I recommend this combination of sauces. The system they have is one in which you receive two bowls (small - meats & large - vegetables) and the best part is that you select what you want. After you have selected all your food (meats & vegetables) you get to see them cook it in front of you which is something I really like since I want to see how my food is done. This is my favorite Mongolian place to head to. The waitresses are always happy to help and the cooks always help you bring out the most flavor from your food. I tend to go here at least once a month. It's not pricey and one plate can even feed two people. My go-to plate is canton noodles with pineapple, onion, sausage, and beef cooked with chili garlic and honey mustard sauce. They have an option of different rice but I usually choose the steamed rice. I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. read more

Khan's is an affordable self service type restaurant that allows you to pick your veggies and protiens as well as the seasoning you'd like. It takes a trip or two to find out what your Mongolian inspired plate will be. It's a great restaurant if you're looking for a big portion for under $10 (or $11 with a drink). The staff is usually friendly and the protein options are chicken, turkey, beef, pork, sausage, and a seafood option lacking shrimp because shrimp is extra. They serve beer here too. The egg rolls are better than most but do not compare to some of the more pricy Asian inspired restaurants. Khan's also feeds a variety of dieter styles including vegan and Paleo. Bathroom is usually a little dirty but it makes up for it with modern amenities. read more

The food is very good probably because you pick it out. A big bowl of vegetables and a small bowl of the meat of your choice. Pick your sauce and they cook it for you. This place would be much better with a different manager. I went a few weeks ago and it was late about and hour before closing I think. When I went to the line to make my bowl I noticed that the noodles were all scattered even in mixed with the different noodles that were next to them. The veggies were mixed up and the raw chicken and beef were also crossing paths . I spoke to the manager and told him that the assembly line looked a bit messy and unappealing and his response to me was "well it's a busy night and we had a big group come in and make a mess" I asked him why he didn't have someone there keeping track of the assembly and cleaning up. His response was " there all working and besides its your big group that made the mess". Very unprofessional and idiotic of him to respond to me in that manner. I've managed a couple of business myself and I was appalled at his flippant response and choice of defending himself instead of admitting that there was a problem and apologizing. Instead, he put the blame on our group and walked away!! You think he would of went straight to the assembly ato start fixing the issue right? Nope! Not him. What horrible management! Khan's Grill is basically a family style diner. The set up was clean, very family friendly and our server was nice and attentive. There were several signs that warned to not overfill your bowls or you would be overcharged, which imo was overkill and tacky. While the food was good, the signs just ruined it for us. Kinda reminded me of the soup Nazi in Seinfeld. Didn't overfill and compared to other mongolian grills, it was on the higher side. read more

Worst place ever, service is good, food is horrible. Will never go back. All you could taste is the excessive salt in the noodles, rice, beef, chicken, everything. Ok first of all I'm very hesitant to go into Oriental restaurants without knowing what they have. I have an MSG sensitivity that would literally put me in the hospital. But, saying that, I called the restaurant and spoke with Jackie. She said they do have a choice of MSG free sauces. Joy! So I got into line and selected my food. I informed the cooks that I needed an MSG free sauce. Fred said "I'll take care of you." Selected a lemon sauce to go with my fish, rice noodles and vegetables. Khan's Grill is a concept restaurant. You move through a line, selecting your meats and veggies, and much like Subway, staff then puts it all together for you. Today was my first visit to the Weslaco location. The wait staff, I felt, spoke to me like a child. They bum rush you at the door to get your drink order. I asked for a water. It was not at my table at the end of the process. I had to go fetch it myself. While in line, I felt dirty. The environment looked unsanitary with veggies and pieces of raw chicken on the bar where my plates passed through. No trays available for customers. It took several months to construct the restaurant. Several things, like outlet plates, still remain u fished. There are holes in the wall. The ambiance just feels cheap rather than polished. Having eaten at the Mcallen, Edinburg, and most often the Harlingen location, I can honestly say that the Weslaco location meets and/or exceeds the other restaurants. I've been here four times already, and each time the food has been fresh, cooked correctly, and tasted delicious. The staff has been great too, with the one exception that we weren't seated immediately the first time I went. Even then, they compensated us for our troubles, which wasn't even necessary. The one gripe I do have is the manager. I don't know his name, but he seems to treat his staff very rudely, even in front of customers. That type of behavior is very unprofessional and didn't leave a good impression with me. That being said, the food is what is important, and it's great. read more

Some times there will be a cook that rushes on your food but I just tell them to cook my food longer. This khans grill is probably one of the worst ones I've ever been to. I understand they just opened up not too long ago, staff is very friendly but the place is super dirty and the sue chefs don't know how to cook the food. Bad place. Awful food Horrible service My food had so much sauce in it, it was literally scolding my tongue of how salty it was... I didn't complain and actually had to pay for extra rice to mix my food with to reduce the saltiness But this doesn't stop there! They self tipped themselves in our ticket without asking (we found out in the credit card bill after the charge) and when we called to clarify the difference the very rude person that answered the phone said we had to go back to fix it, and when I said we live far away, he said "well I don't even know who you are so I can't fix this over the phone"...
