. I may dine here again, but it is nothing so special as to warrant a "recommendation" from me. The service is peculiar; one is given a paper "ballot" and bowl w/ utensils. One must select a type of noodles or rice; the server then sends the diner to a "cafeteria" kind of selection to choose anything in terms of meats, veggies, condiments, etc. which fit into the bowl. Each order is cooked separately on an Oriental steel griddle; the cooking smells similar to a wok. One re-seats oneself, the waitstaff then take the concoction to table to be eaten. TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR BOWL FOOD TO PREVENT BEING OVER CHARGED!! So when you walk in they let you know you'll be charged if you over fill. No gloves at food bar. Then when you go to the grill they watch you and take notes on your food as the manager watches from the center of restaurant. I didn't over fill and got charged 2$ extra for each plate. There was a picture of what over filled was...and i should tKen a picture of my food in bowl. Nobody came to table to see if we needed anything eggroll was extra oily. They watched us eat. First timer, but I had an unpleasant experience. The cooks (2 men; one named Ruben) were being rude and perverted. I came with a couple of friends (some of my girl friends are underage) and the men were checking them out and talking about them. They didn't even bother to hide it because as soon as my friends walked in, they started saying, "damn she's cute" & "damn she's bad." Also when I walked in, they were judging our appearances and snickering about our outfits... The service was horrible! The waiters & other workers were just standing around, talking, and being rude. We asked for chopsticks, and one of the girls half threw them on the table. The place was really dirty, sticky, and humid. The buffet's carpet was sticky and nasty. My partner and I got our own meals the first time and found ourselves eating the food days later. It's a lot of food and the sauces are so good, especially the cilantro lime. I used to like this place, I have no idea what happened to it. The restaurant looks dirty and beware of overcharging tactics. We were a party of 4. We were charged about 3 dlls more per plate for extra veggies. We did not add extra veggies. We added a little more than the rim of the green plate and it was cabbage. Honestly, there no need to add too much veggies. With both plates filled (red and green) is more than enough for an adult. I should have taken a picture of the bowl if I knew this was going to happen. There was no one eating in this place at lunch time. That should've been a red flag. They don't get too much clients, so whatever clients they get they screw over. They've gotten greedy. To top it off they charged me for using my credit card. 2.50 USD for paying with a credit card. In total it was about 15 dlls of overcharging. It is safe to say that they lost a few clients with us. read more

This place is AWESOME.... I used to eat at Khans in Mcallen and just recently found out they opened one in Browntown. Went there during charro days with my family and it was just as good as it used to be.. as soon as you walk in, you are greeted by friendly staff.. the menu is self explanatory and quite extensive... There are countless combinations of dishes one can create and you are only really limited by your imagination... Watching the chef prepare your meal is so much fun and the wonderful aromas that the food gives off is just the beginning... The food arrives piping hot and delicious and when you take your first bite it takes your tastebuds on a magical journey. I never wanted this gustatory adventure to finish. Good idea, good execution, and good cooks. The only problems with this place which is why I can't give 5 stars is the waitresses don't pay attention to you and certain options are way too expensive. I wanted to get a little meat cup cooked and then just add the rice they give for free with it. You normally pick vegetables and pasta but I wasn't all that hungry. I've been here a few times and i love picking what ill be stuffing my face with. I love the variety of veggies and meats to mix and match and that i can season my meal as i please. The cooks I've had have done a great job and listened to my suggestions so i've had no problem with that either. They seem clean all around and even have a bar attached that serves you alcoholic beverages to your table. Theres plenty of parking so no need to stress. The only reason I'm not giving this place five stars is because of a misunderstanding i had with the management and their rudeness when i tried to explain the situation. I'd like to think that he was just having an off day and not that he's just a complete douche but i haven't been back since that last time. My family and I go to Khans about once a month and I'm alway surprised that it isn't busier around 5 and 6pm on a Friday. If you are have had Mongolian BBQ before the experience is pretty typical although the service is usually exceptional. The greeter quickly meets you at the door to explain the routine, take a drink order, and get your table arranged. You are then released to the buffet to fill your bowls. The chefs are always friendly and will cook the meal to your preference--I usually ask for little oil and they can accommodate with extra water to lighten the meal up. The chef will also help choose your sauce and can offer a taste if you are uncertain. If you are interested in adding shrimp to your plate make sure you tell the chef, they can be added for an additional charge. Overall it is a good experience and I return over and over. It beats the typical "Chinese" buffets where the Mongolian BBQ is either an after thought or too busy for good service. read more

The pasta/veggie selection is pretty big and all the veggies are super fresh and crispy. They also have a good meat selection (they keep the shrimp by the grill on ice so you have to ask for it) and the spice selection is pretty crazy. Go as mild or wild as you like. Then the sauce choices are many and they had no problem letting me try as many as I wanted and I landed on the House #1 which was a mix of three others, again you can get it as hot as you like. I went pretty spicy and it did not disappoint. Not just heat but a ton of flavor. Throw in a couple cold beers and I had not one complaint. When I left the valley, I remember this place. It was pretty good! The place has good selections of meats, veggies, pastas, oils, seasons, sauces, and rices. When I came back I'm glad to find out that that it is still very good. I did noticed that they removed the "House 3" combination from the list however you can still ask for it (has worcestershire, honey mustard, chili garlic, and something else). Good service, terrible food. Food options are spilled over one another, and seems old, unclean and stagnate with no appeal. They have a very different interpretation of what extra spicy means than whatI do. To me it means "Hotter" or more "heat". To them it means drown it in sauce. I really like this place. I think you get plenty of food for your money and left overs for dinner. House sauce #2 is my favorite. I believe it accompanies the vegetables and meat very well. If you're a shrimp lover you do have to pay extra for shrimp. Also, I suggest you don't add too much spices (located at the end of the line) because you will ruin your meal. If you must add garlic or other spices add a in small amounts because the house sauces contains enough of the spices and it compliments your food well. read more
