My best guess it that it's Dixy Fried Chicken, which seems to be a popular name for similar establishments, although I'm not entirely sure; for all I know, it could be Digbeth Fried Chicken (mmm, doesn't that sound appetising?). DFC functions as both a standard takeaway and, thanks to the ample seating inside, a sit in restaurant. I've tried out plenty of takeaways in Birmingham, but I've seen few shops as cheap as DFC, which has an extensive £1 menu, serving nuggets, donner burgers, chicken wings, and a number of other takeaway favourites, with chips, for just one quid. As you may very well expect, the food isn't exactly haute cuisine, but at that price, it's great value for money.

Most of the time I only buy my fried chicken from certain takeaway shops but when I visited this shop I was pleasantly surprised. It's not bad at all and they offer great value meals for those on a tight budget who can't afford to buy expensive lunches. They don't overdo the chicken coating as some places tend to overdo it and therefore the chicken ends up tasting horrible. Also, it's not as greasy as what I expected; which was a pleasant surprise as well. I paid about £2 for a chicken and chips meal and that totally filled me up for most of the day.

If you can't supply the exact item that someone has ordered you need to tell them, don't advertise Fanta if you mean Mirinda, i would not have ordered it. If you go to HMV to buy Despicable Me on DVD you don't expect to be given Shrek and told it's almost the same as they are both animated, do you? In bars and restaurants all places need to ask you if you are ok with Pepsi if you ask for Coke, for the full reason that it is not the same product. I don't really expect much when it comes to take away anyway but at the same time i don't think it takes much either to get simple things like an order right. I don't really expect much in the way of food quality either but there is food and then there is bin contents and quite frankly this was bin contents. Finally if you're going to call yourselves Chicken.com, why not obtain the web address that is Chicken.com? This only sums up how stupid the people who run this restaurant must be in the first place. Sunday was the launch of XP at the Mockingbird Theatre. This is a geek themed event held once a night and is a bit of a mecca for all things board game, computer game, quiz and film orientated. After consuming a smoothie for my breakfast and a salad for my lunch, I was starving hungry by 5pm. Everyone seemed to be either ordering pizza (a major no-no for me) or heading to Subway for their tea. I thought neither of these would be an option before a helpful person mentioned that Subway did salad bowls, problem solved... Or so I thought. Despite having all of the components of salad, Subway in Digbeth DON'T do salad bowls (and their staff are pretty unhelpful too). In a major grump, I left the store to see what else was on offer on the street. Right next door I came across Mother Clucker. Firstly, they scored a point for having a name that made me snigger, secondly... They couldn't have been more helpful if they tried. After a quick peruse of the menu I opted for lemon and herb chicken (which is served without skin). I asked if I could have some salad with this, after looking at me strangely for a minute - the guy said "Sure, we can do that. It'll be no extra charge". Winner. The chicken was cooked fresh for me as I waited and I requested some lettuce, onion and chillies (all I could have). I was even warned that the salad might be a bit rubbish as it's predominently meant for burgers, but I thought it was sweet that they warned me. My diet friendly feast was a budget busting £3.50. The guys that did end up going to Subway ended up pretty jealous of my dinner after all. This new kid on the block is sparkling clean, very friendly and super helpful. Will I be back? My boyfriend went up to enquire where our food was. He was told our boneless chicken platter takes longer! They offer a dessert for free! Cool! Accepted! Few mins later they serve a plate to us, and we see it's on the bone. So we call the guy over who looks at the receipt & says it's not boneless on the order! So we say - why did it take so long if it is on the bone when you said it takes longer to make it boneless?!? Someone is making it up!!! Lol We say we will eat it as it is as I'm hungry now! The guy comes back and says I'd like to offer you the boneless platter on your next visit, for free! Okay!! Lol we had that meal few weeks later and it was pretty quick!!! This time I had a gift card to use so we had a sharing platter and it arrived really quickly! So that first occasion we think they forgot our order!! Our food arrived 40mins after we'd ordered even though they weren't full. And our server left us standing at the counter for 5mins thinking he'd gone to get more soft drink glasses from the kitchen, when he'd actually just forgotten and gone for a break. The saving graces were 1) the compliment from the guy at the till that I was a nando's ordering pro because he didn't have to say anything(!), and 2) the food was thankfully up to scratch - we'd all had a long, sad kind of day and totally weren't up for cooking, so a disappointing nando's after all of the above would have been the last straw!
