I usually skip out on KFC for some reason; with Rockin' Joe's right next to it, McDonalds in the area and a Subway in the same shopping center, I never find much reason to go there. And now I know why.
The previous time I had been to KFC (the time before this occurrence), I had been relatively satisfied; what more could you expect from a fast food place? They had changed their chips to the skinny ones, reminiscent of McDonald's. It was all fine; nothing too excitable but nothing bad enough to prompt a bad review.
But last night, at 9:15 after I had gotten off work, I had a craving for some chicken. I ordered a fillet burger meal and asked for an Oreo krushum in place of a drink (of course willing to pay the difference). With it came an order of gravy and some extra boneless chicken for the crave-rs at home once they knew I was visiting KFC. There was one person on the till, with six sets of orders to fill in the queue. Fair enough, it was late. But I checked the sign before wandering in and it said the restaurant was open until 10pm.
Apart from the long waiting time, what I got was a bit of a disgrace for the amount of money I paid. For those of you who may not know KFC runs a little pricier than McDonalds, probably the closet comparison restaurant in the Crescent. Thinking about my experience last night, I'm kicking myself today that I didn't speak up about what I was given; being tired and wanting to get home made me overlook things I shouldn't have.
After a long-ish wait I was handed my bag of food and my krushum. I turned to leave, glancing down at what I had just been handed, having tried to avoid little kids in order to get to the counter to take my food previously, and was a little annoyed at what I found; my krushum was HALF filled. I didn't bother to turn around and say anything, with more people in the line and only two girls out front, but I should have. I was given half of the drink that I ordered and had to pay full price for. When I got home, the crave-ers were disappointed that the boneless chicken I had ordered, with two dipping sauces, had come lonely - they had forgotten the sauces. Now, the sauces are definitely something I could overlook, but the krushum is really beginning to grate my nerves. I am annoyed at myself for being too tired and too intimidate by the prospect of causing upheaval to say anything when I should have. It's like being served half a pint at a bar. It was my cheat day, the one day in the week I treat myself to one meal and it was a disappointment.
All I can say is, I don't think I'll be going back to KFC any time soon and I urge people to speak up if there is ever anything wrong with your meal. I wish I had. read more
