I don't typically leave 1-star reviews, but this experience definitely warrants one. I have ordered KFC from various locations before without any issues, but my first order from this particular location was a complete disaster. I ordered a 12-piece bucket for myself and my cat, Countess Willow, and it turned out to be the worst KFC I've ever had. When the chicken arrived, we were excited, but as soon as I opened the bag, I noticed the lid was sinking in due to the excessive amount of oil that had soaked in. As I removed the lid, the chicken looked as if it had been fried and then dunked in oil. There was so much oil that I could probably start an oil company! The chicken was soggy, and when I took off the top pieces, the ones underneath looked gooey, as if they were gelatinous and fused together. Some of it was raw even. I tried to take a piece out, and it was inedible. This was the worst chicken I have ever had in my life; even gas station fried chicken seems like it was cooked by a Michelin-star chef in comparison. This was the most disappointing and biggest waste of money I have ever spent on food. I ended up tossing the entire bucket in the trash since it was not fit for any living being on Earth. I will not be ordering from this location again, and after this experience, I took a closer look at the reviews for this specific place. Stopped by around 11am a few days ago for a bucket and sides for the office. Super fast and very friendly service. I was there for less than 5 minutes. The lady at the window even noticed my bag was ripping and gave me a second one. The cost for the meal made me blink but that is corporate structure and not a local complaint for the store. I've tried this place a few times. Absolutely horrible!!! They don't use the correct spice mixture on their chicken (most likely so they can save $$), so there is no flavor. You can get better fried chicken at Cub Foods! They don't prepare for busy times, and they are regularly out of the type of chicken you want (even during dinner time). Worst kfc I've ever gone to. My potato bowl had a hair in it, actually 3 hairs. (I didn't get a picture of it because I threw it away right away because it was three different hair colors (disgusting) and they also forgot my mac & cheese the last two times I've went and didn't want to refund it or give me my mac & cheese when I came back, they made me pay for it again. My experience with KFC isn't extensive, but this location is the worst I've tried. I felt dirty after eating this chicken. Fried chicken dinner was sliding around in its own grease and there wasn't that much meat on the pieces. Mac n cheese was lukewarm and even more unnaturally neon colored than I remembered... made me feel a little like I was eating playdough. Cookie was hard and cold. Just overall a bad meal. This restaurant seems dingier and grosser than the other two KFCs I've tried (Crystal, before it closed, and Duluth). The location is sketchy too and I don't recommend stopping for food anywhere in this strip if you're passing through. (A couple of nearby sit-down places, like Filfillah, are exceptions, but overall the restaurants in this couple of blocks are not good. Farther down Central Ave they are better.) As far as fast food chicken goes, Canes and Chick-Fil-A may be a dollar or two more for a meal, but they're not even comparable. So much better and more food for your money. read more

My husband decided to pop out and get us a quick lunch at the Columbia Heights location and when he took longer than usual to get home he finally called me and said that he was told that for 1 bucket of original recipe chicken it would take an hour in the drive-thru!!! He said that part of the problem was that the employees where outside having a chit-chat!!! The manager had to finally go out and tell them to get back to work!!! Still waiting on that chicken.............! Some of these locations have gone downhill so bad in the last couple of years........makes me wonder if the food is even safe to eat????? I decided to stop at this KFC since it was open and I wanted some good Chicken. I ordered a 4 peace chicken only crispy chicken. The chicken was bland and it tasted like there was some sort of filling in the chicken. I tried the breast and it tasted raw! Skip this KFC. If you're craving KFC. It's not going to do it for you. This is a combination KFC and A&W. It combines the poorest qualities of each restaurant. The best thing A&W offers is its on-tap root beer. This location has replaced their keg with a fountain machine. The fountain absolutely pales in comparison to how it's normally served. I've been at A&W restaurants attached to gas stations that still have their kegs tapped. I don't know what their excuse is. The tap is still mounted to the counter top, but isn't hooked up. They even sell commemorative mugs for $7.50. $7.50 for fountain soda! But, alas, I wanted some KFC, so I hoped I'd get 3 pieces of chicken and some of their wedges that I absolutely love. This location doesn't have wedges. Instead, they've got fries. I took a chance on them only to find they were unequivocally the worst fries I've ever eaten, fast food or otherwise. They were stale, room-temperature. I've faked better frozen fries from Ore Ida in my own oven. Shameful. On my way out I noticed there was a bell that you could ring if you received exceptional service. On closer inspection, I realized the bell was missing entirely. Only the sign remained. The incompetence that was displayed here was shocking...or maybe not so much considering it's a fast food joint. We placed our order in the drive thru. The cars ahead of us seemed to be having problems with their orders. One man waited over 20 minutes for his order, another woman drove off. When we got to the window to pay, the person working there asked if our order was correct after reading it back to us. Needless to say it wasn't. She proceeded to tell us no one bothered ringing in our order (even though we spoke to someone over the speaker) and that we needed to repeat the entire thing. After 5 minutes of confusion with our order, the manager read it back to us and finally got it right. We waited for over 20 minutes in the drive thru for 4 items and no one had the decency to tell us that it would take some time. The manager nor the employees there bothered to apologize for the inconvenience which they should have done at the very least. When we got our food after waiting for an unnecessary amount of time, it was barely hot and the fries were soggy. Can't help but laugh at the people who think these morons should be paid 15 bucks an hour to screw up orders and act like they can't count past 5. I was dying for the KFC buffet, I have to eat vegetables as part of a food plan, so I was looking forward to the green beans. This location is very small as it had a limited AW menu and a limited KFC menu. So, no buffet and no green beans. That was disappointing for me. However the rest of my family was perfectly happy with their greasy burgers and french fries. The walls at our booth we're kind of smeared with greasy fingers in a little bit of food and the floor was dirty, which is kind of not an excuse as it wasn't really that busy. Terrible experience. Took half an hour to get our food, we were behind one customer. They gave my girlfriend the wrong order... twice. She order a 3 piece chicken meal, they gave her a box with only biscuits in it. So we returned the box and they did the same thing again. After going to the counter a third time, they finally got her order correct. I had to go to the counter a fourth time because they forgot to make my meal (I ordered after her in line). Do Not Go Here. Customer service is absolutely terrible. As soon as I asked for the corporate number or to even get my receipt she threatened to call the cops. "She" did not have a name-tag on, dirty attire and a terrible attitude. She claimed to be the manager and honestly, you could hire a 16 year old out of high school with higher worth than her. I just wanted to get the BOGO icecream swirl with my buddy. Turned into her calling the cops on me because I refused to leave without a corporate number or my receipt. She said she wouldn't do the BOGO on a large size even though it doesn't have any restrictions on the coupon so long as the free icecream is equal or lesser value than the paid one.
