I strongly recommend doing thorough research before hiring American Home Values L.L.C. In my…read moreexperience, while they initially presented themselves as professional and courteous, the project did not start on the promised date, and there were repeated delays and excuses. It seemed they lacked sufficient manpower to complete the work efficiently, and I encountered unexpected issues with planning, flooring, and pricing. Additionally, a toilet had been improperly reinstalled during the removal of existing flooring, which I later discovered was not compliant with Maryland plumbing law. In Maryland, plumbing work, including installing or uninstalling fixtures like toilets, must be performed or supervised by a licensed plumber. After their reinstall, the toilet began leaking, and I had to have it remounted to meet proper standards. When problems arose during my project, I chose to end the relationship, and I personally felt their responses were unprofessional. I have also seen reports from others describing similar negative experiences with this company. I hesitated to write this review because I support local businesses, but I believe potential clients should be aware of my experience and the legal implications to make informed decisions.

Horrific experience. We contracted with them to do a bundle of five projects, totaling over $93K -…read morethe largest of which was a small bathroom remodel and the dismantling and rebuilding of our deck. It was a complete nightmare. It took them a *full year* to complete the work, with me calling and prodding to get them to show up. There were lengthy periods where workers would come but had no materials to do their job (especially for the deck). For example, the framing for our deck was built and inspected, then left to bake in the summer sun for several weeks to the point the board were warping. His workers, who had no materials, were putting wooden blocks between the framing beams to help the frame stay straight. (FYI - A year later, my Trex boards are lifting and pieces are falling off my deck.) Work was done incorrectly resulting in repeated corrections. He lied to my face so many times, that I couldn't believe anything he said. In the end, AHV tried to charge us an additional $7K over the contract claiming it was for additional labor hours that they had never provided a change order for, much less ever mentioning a number of labor hours at all in their original contract. We almost (and should have) filed a complaint with the MHIC and actually had to hire an attorney. Horribly mismanaged company. Subcontractors who don't care. No oversight. The 5-star reviews and "recommendations" on their website are all former employees, family, or people they know. I would be extremely careful if you decide to work with them. I don't want anyone else to go through what we did!
