One of the things I found particularly valuable was the project management app they use. It made it easy to manage the project from end to end, stay informed, review decisions, and keep everything organized in one place. The design phase did take some time, but it was time very well spent. Once we finalized the design, everything moved at a great pace, and the execution was smooth and well coordinated. This was actually my second project with H&C Construction this year, and I am once again very pleased with the results. The fact that I chose to work with them a second time says a lot about my confidence in their team and the quality of their work. I would highly recommend H&C Construction to anyone considering a kitchen remodel. They are professional, organized, communicative, and committed to delivering quality work--and they made what can be a stressful process feel very well managed.

I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.

Details: I first worked with Sussan on design. I had high level ideas of what I wanted, but no real experience in picking out all the elements that were needed to complete a design. Sussan proved to be a great partner for this - she visited my home first for measurements and to get a sense of my style. Then she invited me to the showroom to review materials. I really appreciated her willingness to work with me as I got an education on all of the choices needed to complete the design. I feel like the final product was exactly what I wanted - but I couldn't have done it as well without her. When the time came for the actual renovation, I was introduced to Jonathan as my project manager. Again, I have no real experience with contractors. But I am certainly familiar with all of the horror stories, so I was nervous about what to expect. This was literally the best experience with a service provider I have ever experienced. Jonathan kept me informed of progress, quickly consulted me when a choice needed to be made, and handled all of my nervous questioning and follow up with kindness and respect. That positive experience was backed up by the product. The team did quick and beautiful work. I was continually impressed by the high caliber of their work and so excited as I saw my design vision brought to light. I now have the kitchen and bathroom of my dreams - and it was delivered on budget and earlier than expected. No contractor nightmares here! As with all major work, there were some mistakes. But GBC handled them with a total focus on my satisfaction, and worked to make sure I felt pleased with outcomes every step of the way. I mentioned I live in a DC condo. This meant it was difficult to find a company that was willing to work with the restrictions that come from that experience (limited parking, shared elevators, strict HOA regulations). GBC took it all in stride - they made accommodations when needed to make sure they delivered for me without causing a fuss. We had a significant amount of tile work done and it turned out great. We couldn't be happier with our new bathrooms and glad we went with Mason. We would typically text with Mason throughout the project but he was always available by phone if needed. He also stopped by the project several times to check on the work and oversee the project. The bathroom remodels required complete demolition, relocation of plumbing, and framing. Mason is a great project manager and handles all the finer details and project timeline. He offered suggestions as the project moved along, and was sure to get input from us before he made any changes. While we chose the materials I'm sure his team could offer design ideas that would work well with any project. After seeing the completed product I would certainly use Sino-American for future projects and would recommend them to anyone. After several unsuccessful attempts to find someone knowledgeable and reliable to complete our home, we were lucky to find Alex and his team. Alex was very responsive to texts, email, or calls with any questions or concerns. He came by every day to check in as the scope of work was extensive. His team demo'ed a wall and replaced the handrails, stair treads, risers, and balusters on our both of our staircases. After 12 full days of work, we finally achieved the look and finish we wanted! From the start, Tile Center made this piece of our process easy and pleasant, and we love the outcome. As project manager, Joe was incredibly helpful and easy to communicate with. He came to our house very quickly after our initial outreach, returned later with grout samples, and walked us through options at the showroom. He always responded quickly to emails and texts. He helped us navigate tile shortages and advised us when we needed to order from a third party. Thomas, the installer, was also fantastic. His work is beautiful, and on top of that, he was just incredibly lovely to be around. He not only tolerated, but was awesomely kind to, our very loud and unhelpful dog! He also went above and beyond dealing with various issues that arose. James, who came on one of the days, was also great. On top of everything else, we really appreciated how both Joe and Thomas worked things out so that we could live in the house throughout the installation. That was really helpful as far as both hassle and the potential extra cost of lodging. We got porcelain wood-look tiles, and we really like the outcome (see picture). 100% recommend.
