We arrived by cruise ship (Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady) to Mallory Square, where we took a very short walk to stop #4, which is the closest to the port. There are usually 2 air-conditioned buses but today there was just 1 short bus which holds about 14 people. There are a total of 18 stops in the continuous loop. The loop takes about 35-40 minutes to make a complete loop. If you are looking to go to the public beach, you would want to get get off at stop #7 and if you want to go to the bouy at the southernmost point of Key West for that famous picture, you will want to get off at stop #10. At each stop, there is a pole with a QRC code to scan, and it gives you the real-time location of the bus. The bus driver is not really able to have a tour conversation while driving because he really needs to keep his eye on the road because of the traffic and tourists who wander the streets. The driver does accept tips for the free ride around town. I recommend this mode of transportation if you want to see the town of Key West.

When in Key West, make sure to check out the Conch Tour Train!…read more We booked this tour through the GoCity pass. By the end of the ride, I learned the history of the city, the booming times of the city until..., and some personal recommendations by our guide, Chris. He made the experience even better with his humor and in-depth knowledge. One of my favorite tidbits was the story behind the Conch Republic's tongue-in-cheek motto: "We seceded where others failed." In a playful protest, Key West once jokingly declared war on the United States and then immediately surrendered, turning the whole thing into a symbol of its independent spirit and humor. The train took us all around the island, passing by famous landmarks like President Truman's House, Ernest Hemingway's Home, Duval Street, and several museums. Overall, I'd highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a fun, relaxing way to explore while staying cool in the Key West heat.
