My husband and I are the couple in the theatre and also the couple in front of the cathedral. I ultimately do not recommend that you use Keyla as a photographer, but here are a few reasons you'll still be okay with her: She takes beautiful photos. She was really accommodating with location. She and her assistant Andy are great to work with in the shoot. When she made a mistake with our order, she corrected it instantly at no cost to us.
We found Keyla because she was looking for engaged couples to act as models so she could expand her portfolio. Keyla's ad said, "Free engagement photo shoot and a free print!" That's it. She even paid for my makeup. Our photo shoot in theatre and at the cathedral was a lovely day and my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves.
Then when it came time to pick our photos, she told us that the photo *shoot* was free, but the photos themselves were not. We were shocked. She'd never mentioned a price to us before the shoot. How were we supposed to know that the photo shoot didn't include the actual photos unless she told us? When we explained our distress to her (you said these were free, we are a young couple, we can't afford your prices) she was polite but very inflexible. Her reasoning was that she was an artist and this was her life's work, why would she give photos away for free? I understand her right to charge for her work; I think she is dead wrong that she didn't need to tell us before the photo shoot what she would charge. We never would have shot with her had we seen those prices beforehand. Instead she withheld prices until after the photos were taken and we were in love with them. She took no responsibility for the miscommunication; she said she treats all of her models this way. That was the most heartbreaking for me because to us it seems so clear. If you're going to charge someone for something, they have a right to know beforehand.
I find it disappointing that she uses images of us to promote her business but refuses to share those images with us. We don't even have digital copies of the Yelp photos! She's a great photographer and was wonderful to work with in so many ways. It was such a shame and a heartbreak to me that things happened this way. But for you, reader of this review, it won't be hard for you to find another great photographer who is a more reasonable businessperson. read more
