Fell and bent the bow of my glasses very badly on Easter Sunday. Called and went into Key West Optical on Monday early afternoon (hey, it's Key West). Very pleased and impressed with the team! Dr. Morell is highly experienced, having a background in the Navy as an Optician for the fighter pilots. I am so excited as my vision since transitioning to soft lenses from RPGs has never been as clear and crisp. She confidently stated that we can change that! Cailyn and Corey in the office were very efficient and knowledgable as well. The vast array of frames they carry is impressive too. I'll post an update when we get through the trials. Love Dr Sheldon, he is awesome but it is a monstrosity he is at this place. I have been asking for two months now for my itemized receipt and script. I desperately need to submit the receipt to my FSA before I get penalized. Every time I'm told it's going to be sent and I get nothing! On top of that, there was a misunderstanding with insurance. Apparently they take Cingna health but not Cigna vision??? What should have cost me less than $200 for me and my daughter cost me $400, didn't even get eye glasses or contacts (that would have been another $900+) AND they have the audacity to ask for another $98 because my daughter is covered under the vision plan but not the health. I had a bike wreck that bent my glasses frame and popped out a lens. The fellow at KW Optical fixed my glasses, also put the lens back in my sunglasses and didn't charge for his efforts. All it cost to get my glasses fixed was two Uber rides. Thanks Key West Optical! read more

Hubby had a lens pop out of his prescription glasses while on vacation. We called and were given a time to come in when the right person to work on his particular style of glasses was working. They quickly repaired his glasses and did not charge even though we offered. We are so grateful for their quick response. I had forgotten my contact lenses on our trip down here to see my in-laws and when I called to see if they could help me, they got back to me right away and we discussed different options and they were really invested in making sure that I got what I needed. Twice I've been down from Alaska visiting my daughter when prescription sunglass lens popped out from the underwire. Both times Cory the Optical Manager fixed on the spot and explained why it happened (defect in the groove in bottom of lens that wire fits in). Neither time did they charge for saving my vacation. Dr. Ling was fantastic! My only complaint is that my prescription for contacts was left incomplete. There was no power field, which ultimately forces the wearer to order one box for a complete script. You can buy contact lens online at much cheaper prices for the same lens. read more

My girlfriend and I were on vacation in Key West and when she tried taking out one of her contacts it ripped and left a piece of the contact in her eye. She was in great pain and worried so we found an optometrist to get a professional to take it out. This is a medical issue so her insurance will cover it but the receptionist told her she had to pay $180 regardless for the procedure even though her remaining deductible was lower. They should have billed her for the deductible then charged insurance for the rest. This was the first headache. After getting called back the doctor did her examination and came up with nothing. She said nothing was wrong and there was nothing in her eye despite her still being in pain. She gave my girlfriend some eye drops to help with the discomfort. As we're leaving my girlfriend asks for an itemized bill that she may present to her insurance company due to the incorrect pricing and they gave her a bill that reflects a standard eye examination and not a medical emergency. She knows these billing codes due to her job as an optometrist. She tries to explain that her insurance won't accept this and the receptionist says that's all she can do. We got back to where we were staying and after an hour or so my girlfriend decided to try and wash out her eye again and she pulled out the freaking contact piece along with another piece of debris. Not only had they incorrectly charged her and messed up the billing for her insurance, they incompetently performed the procedure of removing a foreign body from her eye. So now we have this $180 charge on our card and there's no way insurance will pay for it because it's not the correct billing code and they didn't even help her. This place was horrible all around and I recommend you avoid it. read more

My only real complaint is the customer service I got from the lady who was probably the office manager. I got my reminder email about my annual eye exam....cool. The problem is I got it about mid-way through the day when I was at work and could not go in to purchase new contact lenses. I found my prescription form and the expiration date was on the day I received the email. Maybe I can purchase the contacts the next day? Nope. I asked the lady if that would be possible and she said I now need to schedule an eye exam. "Can I ask the doctor?" Her response is "no, you had the prescription form and it says when the expiration date is." She's right but I told her I don't carry it around with me so I did not realize it had just expired, is there anything she can do? Her response is, "I'm done here." I've been in management for over 15 years and definitely did not appreciate her response to the situation. She could at least let me know the policy or work something out instead of the snide comment. Maybe send the reminder email about a week ahead of time? Yes, my prescription expired by one day and that's on me but be a little more professional especially in a small community where word travels really fast. read more
