We are staying in Islamorada, so it took us just about two hours to drive to Key West. If you're not staying in Key West, one must take the driving time into consideration, as traffic can travel pretty slowly sometimes... Our captain was Lanier and Parker was first mate. They both did a great job of taking care of us. Lanier offered really helpful information and was great at answering our questions as he steered us to the reef. Parker was really nice and made us feel welcome with conversation and drinks. Once we got to the reef, the snorkeling was really great! I don't have very good eyesight, so I bought some prescription goggles and I was not disappointed. I saw many different kinds of colorful fish, including some that liked to swim pretty close to me. It was a bit windy, so there were some waves that eventually had me feeling slightly queasy, but I was still able to snorkel for 40 - 50 minutes. Unfortunately, my wife actually did get seasick and Parker was super sweet to aid her and a handful of the other guests who got seasick. Her ice on the neck trick seemed to really help us "land lubbers" :) If you're in Key West and want to see some beautiful fish, I would definitely go with Floridays!

Spending a couple of hours with Captain Dennis was a pleasure. We enjoyed chatting with him, as he is not only fun and easy to talk to, but also has fascinating stories to share. His passion for sailing is evident, and his joy of being on the water is infectious. Captain Dennis encouraged us to participate in the sailing, which added to the fun, and he skillfully maneuvered the boat to the perfect spot for a breathtaking sunset. He obliged my husband basically completely taking over navigation duties with such grace! Afterward, he took us back to the marina without any rush, making it clear he was enjoying the trip as much as we were. I had concerns that the weather would impact our excursion, so I actually called that morning to confirm the tour was still going as planned. I was assured we were going. Unfortunately, the tour was a complete disappointment. The main reason we booked was to experience the secluded sandbar, which is a major highlight of the advertised excursion. We never even made it to the sandbar. Instead, we barely snorkeled in rough waters that felt unsafe and certainly weren't enjoyable. We also didn't see the tropical fish, sea turtles, or other marine life highlighted in the tour description. The one bright spot was seeing dolphins, which we really enjoyed. However, that alone did not make up for everything else we missed. I completely understand that weather is unpredictable and safety comes first. However, if conditions weren't suitable to deliver the main experiences being advertised, I believe the company should have offered guests the option to reschedule or cancel rather than proceeding with a significantly reduced experience. Again, Captain Jason and Bernie were wonderful, and I don't fault them at all. But ultimately, we paid for an experience we simply did not receive. The positive side is you get to bring your own alcohol and food if you want. We chose to eat dinner at the Conch Republic seafood house before we boarded. And of course I brought my wine on board. We boarded at 6:15 pm and were greeted by a crew of three. Captain and two mates. They were all awesome full of knowledge answering all our questions while tending to the boat. They are known for their cannon which is fired at other ships veering too close lol. We had a quiet group of 18 souls on board but it was my first time on an actual sail boat so I totally enjoyed it. I highly recommend this as your option if want to avoid the huge boats.
