When I say everyone at this studio is the sweetest and so warm and welcoming I mean it. When you come to authentic, you show up for yourself and you set the expectations. It doesn't matter if you have never stepped foot in a studio or have been practicing for 20 years, Authentic is for everyone wanting to connect to their body. Amanda the owner has beyond made me feel comfortable in being uncomfortable as well as feeling accepted. Her practice is beautiful, the way she guides you through each class you feel supported even with 20+ students in the room. Leah's classes are also amazing, her chanting at the end really takes it home and leaves you feeling even more grounded. Scott's classes are tough and invigorating he gives such exciting and encouraging energy, if you don't feel confident in your practice Scott has some confidence and belief in you. The space is very clean. Mats, towels, blocks, and more is available. If you want great yoga and want to feel connected mind and body this is your place. If you want positive energy from not just the instructors but the students then authentic is for you. This place has become my safe haven being away from home.

Then another car. Then another. Soon, yogis were streaming inside. I learned Angela was the owner. She came from Washington and brought her passion for yoga and creating spaces for it with her. ~ The Guide: Angela * (Heated) Vinyasa We began on our backs. Breath first. Then small movements to open the body. There was something else in the room: Peppermint. Angela connected the scent to mental clarity, the crispness of winter... think candy canes and digestion. Then: Wind-Relieving Pose. Also digestion. That'll stick. Then we began to move. Angela reminded us the practice was a dance with our breath. So we danced. And then we played. Crow. Bird of Paradise. Standing Bound Garland. Forearm Stand. Eventually, the dance brought us back to the floor. Angela thanked us for showing up for ourselves and for each other. Iron sharpens iron. Then a cold, wet towel was pressed firmly into my hand. Oh. Yes. Savasana. ~ The Tribe: After class, I bumped into Angela in the bathroom. As one does. We started talking. When she moved to Idaho, it took time to find the space and the people. Then Balance Hot Yoga opened its doors. ~ The Plot Thickens: Angela's son found an abandoned dog at a gas station and brought her home. A few days later, they learned she was pregnant. Suddenly... puppies. The litter connected them with Upward Inertia. And now... Pop-Up Puppy Yoga. ~ Space & Place: Inside, the studio keeps going. First floor: check-in, retail, sauna, cold plunge, salt room. Upstairs: a spacious infrared practice room, cubbies, showers and changing space. Part yoga studio. Part recovery space. A whole lotta community. ~ Practical Notes: * Tucked behind the storefronts (look for the party lights) * Free parking * Infrared-heated practice room * Showers & cubbies * Sauna & cold plunge & salt room * Cold, wet towel in Savasana * Puppy Yoga & other specialty classes ~ The dance was with our own breath. * Yoga Field Note: Practice is personal, but we make it better together.
