Pet parents, please don't be fooled by this "complimentary desk portrait" offer. Based on my experience working with Kevin, I am highly skeptical of any positive reviews his business has. While the photography session itself is technically "free," be prepared to be subject to predatory conditions: you are required to pay a ~$150 "booking deposit" and sit through a mandatory follow-up Zoom appointment to actually get your portrait. The entire process was packed with passive-aggressive upselling, including an upfront warning that if I needed an additional Zoom meeting to finalize my portrait(s), there would be an extra $200 fee associated. He also insisted that I invite my significant other to the follow-up session to ensure that "all decision-makers" were present. This felt extremely patronizing and misogynistic, especially since I had already explained to him that I would be making the decision for my household and that additional input was unnecessary. During our follow-up Zoom call about a week after the session, Kevin spent a good part of the time stalling. After a frustrating 25 minutes of having to sit through Kevin's emotionally manipulative tactics, I let him know that I would need to leave the call early in 10 minutes and asked if we could expedite this process, at which point his "friendly" demeanor instantly changed. He told me that he would be keeping my deposit and charging me $200 to reschedule. I made it clear that I was no longer interested in his services, meaning there would be no need for an additional meeting, and asked for my deposit to be refunded. After a tense back-and-forth, Kevin reluctantly agreed to refund my money. While I understand that he blocked off an hour of his time, the stalling I experienced during my thirty-five minutes on the call felt like a setup to force me into that extra $200 meeting in hopes of selling me an overpriced, lackluster product. His constant claims of "not trying to sell me anything" while very obviously trying to sell me something were exhausting. This business relies on holding your deposit hostage, stalling to pressure you into additional fees/products, and using emotional blackmail over your pet. Save your time and stay far away!!!!!! read more

Kevin is an outstanding photographer with a heart of gold filled with passion for his artistry. My two boys and I had a photo shoot. Kevin was patient as the boys (age 7 months and 2 years) had a difficult time sitting and paying attention. He worked different angles and ways to capture the perfect picture. I was taken away by the wonderful pictures he took. Kevin knows his craft. He understands that he is capturing a moment in time that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend Kevin. He is professional and aims for top of the line photography. read more

Ok this photographer has shot not only one but BOTH of my older sister's weddings. I was a bridesmaid in both so I got first hand experience with how he is :) I have put off writing a review for him for several months now bc I feel whatever I write won't do him justice. He is not only such an amazing photographer but the sweetest one around. This is important especially for some of the more shy subjects. He will make you feel so comfortable. My oldest sister had hired Joe Buissink as her main photographer at her wedding. Joe had brought a whole team of people along with him. When it came time to go through all of the photos both my sisters and I noticed we fell in love with some photographs more than others. Somehow she managed to find out that some of photos we loved were shot by Kevin, who at the time was one of Joe's assistants. We all made notes in our heads that the next time we know someone getting married we would for sure recommend Kevin. Fast forward 5 years later, the next sister in line was ready to get married an looking for photographers, we remembered how much we loved Kevin's photos, found him online and found out he was now doing weddings on his own. Fabulous! My sister called him up and hired him immediately. When we got Shamisa's wedding photos from him we fell just in love with his photos as we did the first time with Shahrzad's. His shots are not the run of the mill boring wedding photographs. His pictures are wonderfully unique but elegant and traditional at the same time, they are ones you're going to want to print, blow up10x the original size and stick in every room of your home. I mentioned being a shy subject earlier bc when 100% attention in on Shamisa she becomes SUPER duper shy, she was the complete opposite of a bridezilla. Kevin, told her exactly how to stand, pose, and when to smile when not to, making her feeling totally at ease and confident that he was getting the right shots. This is a HUGE deal bc you are spending a pretty penny on your whole wedding wouldn't it be awful if the photos turned up ugly bc you're photographer was just pointing and shooting and not telling you what you can do to make the photo better? In addition to weddings, the oldest sister again recently hired him to take shots of her family. When I got to see the photos they gave me chills, it felt as though I was in a dream. I was in shock to know the photos were taken in SD and at balboa park. I don't know how he transformed balboa park into something so much more interesting to look at through his lens. You will not regret hiring him. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the amazing Kevin Lubera. Where to start? We were referred to him by our incredible floral and even designer, Yvonne Design, for our 2010 wedding in Napa. We were thrilled that he was available, as he is highly in demand! Not only is he an incredibly talented photographer, but leading up to the day, he was so calm and accommodating, just speaking with him dropped my stress levels because he literally had everything covered. Given I was planning my wedding from abroad, he was entirely accommodating about when we spoke, and was super responsive over email. He is also incredibly organized and on top of things-- there was nothing he hadn't already thought of when it came to planning how the photography would run on the day. We didn't actually meet until the day before the wedding, and he had already done a site visit and begun to shoot background shots and determine where he would "stage" us on the day to save time so we wouldn't be away from our guests very long. Oh-- and did I also mention that he went above and beyond and actually helped with other aspects of the wedding preparation as well? What a saint! On the day itself, he was absolutely amazing. I'm incredibly camera shy and hate having my photo taken-- it was probably the thing that I was dreading most. But Kevin was incredible, and not only did he make me feel super comfortable and unconscientious, but half the time I didn't even realize he was there snapping away! I wanted photos that were not forced, and more of a photo-journalistic approach, and he more than delivered. His artistic sensibility and innate talent for capturing beauty have given my husband and I the most beautiful memories captured in film. Aside from his talent, he is also just the nicest man. By the time we got to the wedding day, he felt like family, so much so that we asked him to join us as our guest at dinner and dancing! Thank you Kevin for capturing our day and giving us memories of a lifetime! read more

I am glad that I discovered Kevin. He took our family portraits during our recent Oahu vacation and was simply AWESOME! He choose a wonderful spot/time of the day for photo shoot and got beautiful pictures of our family. He is also wonderful and extremely nice person. Highly recommended. Edit: I am planning our next vacation and was working on booking someone for a photoshoot. I was constantly thinking/reminded of Kevin and wondering how I choose someone similar to him (almost after a year since we went to Hawaii)..It does say a lot! You wouldn't go wrong with Kevin! read more

If you want the BEST photographer in Hawaii, then look no further! Kevin captured our engagement and wedding photos for us and they are so remarkable that we couldn't imagine anything better. Kevin is a very sweet, friendly guy that makes it easy to feel comfortable in front of the camera. He has a good eye and he told me that he likes to constantly change the locations of his shoots to get a different look. This led us on an adventure during our engagement shoot that had us going over highway rails, jumping down huge rocks and finding the most AMAZING places to shoot in Hawaii that you couldn't normally get to. If you are a young couple like us then you can probably imagine how much fun we had. EVERYONE asks us where we took the photos because they are so unique. Our wedding day photos are also beautiful. We had an extravagant wedding with over 300+ people and we only used Kevin as our photographer. We will continue to count on Kevin whenever we have a milestone to celebrate in Hawaii. read more

After reading previous reviews I was very excited to confirm Kevin for my wedding day. Everything that I had read about Kevin was spot on. What a true professional and lovely man. It was such a pleasure to meet him and the photographs he took of myself and my 2 girls getting ready far exceeded my expectations. As we were technically "eloping" Kevin was able to get the photos to us electronically by the time we arrived back in Australia to show our family and friends. They were mesmerized by the quality and the beauty he captured in his photos. I cannot Thank Kevin enough for giving me such beautiful memories of such a special day. I would not hesitate in recommending Kevin to photograph any special occasion you are considering a photographer for. He is truly very talented. read more

Kevin is AMAZING!! Not only are his photos everything my fiancé and I had hoped for, but he is the best to work with!! I decided to surprise my then girlfriend with a photography session for her 'grad' pictures while we were on vacation in Hawaii, to pop the question. Being from San Francisco, planning would've been so much more difficult without him!! He sent me samples of multiple locations, and his ideas were so helpful! He captured our moment and engagement celebration perfectly and we were amazed with the angles, colors, and clarity of the photos and the overall experience couldn't have been better! I would recommend Kevin to ANYONE looking for a great photographer! He is extremely talented, helpful, and professional. I can't wait to ise him again!! read more

We recently had a family reunion on Oahu with 15 people who flew in from all over the US. Kevin did an amazing job capturing the entire family, subsets, multiple different combinations of people, etc. He was so accommodating and guided us to pose in various spots on the beach. The location he chose was Waimanalo Beach and we couldn't ask for a better setting. He was so efficient and thorough in his communication prior to the photo shoot day and covered everything. He responds to emails right away. We received our photos so much quicker than anticipated and every single one of us were in awe with the quality. He is an amazing photographer and a kind soul. All of us felt so comfortable working with him. I highly recommend Kevin for any occasion. He will work with you and provide with you photographs you will cherish for a life time! read more

Kevin and his lovely wife/assistant were awesome about capturing all the pure and natural emotions of our 2 young sons about a year ago, when our younger son turned 1 in Ko Olina, HI. It was a spur of the moment thing, where we had the kids run around on the beach around sunset...the pictures were beautiful and the expressions on our kids faces were priceless. If you want to see some of the photos, they are captured on Kevin's website. Not only is he great at wedding photography, but family photos too. He also went through and edited/touched up the actual shots before sending them back to us, in 2 different formats in a dropbox. Oen set for uploading to the web (facebook, etc...smaller files for ease of loading) and the original files for our own printing convenience. Check them out! Huge kudos to Kevin and Loretta. Thanks for capturing this special time for us!! read more

Kevin is a true artist, and a professional. I was referred to him by a mutual friend Stacey Nomura of Bradley and Lily Fine Stationery when searching for an artist-photographer to capture our first family portrait while vacationing in Hawaii. It was an opportune time because Kevin had just relocated back to Hawaii a couple weeks prior. At our first call to discuss the plans, he was warm and welcoming with ideas; he immediately extended the true Aloha spirit. Our phone call was followed up with an email that outlined our conversation and some helpful preparation tips for the shoot. What I appreciated the most was that he kept in mind that half of his subjects are toddlers and their utmost comfort was his top priority. He is a true professional. His attention to details is unique, and sets him a part from ordinary photographers/wanna-be artists. He offered location, and wardrobe suggestions fitting for the location but most importantly he had the foresight ensuring the images will preserve time, esp. extending across the fashion trends. The day of the photoshoot, he and Loretta made us feel at ease. They are great partners, exchanging creative ideas together. They even brought treats for the kids to enjoy. The 2-3 hours we spent hanging out at the beach was fun, the kids were just playing, and were never given the pressure to pose. Kevin was able to capture the natural/fun setting, and the images he came back with were remarkable. Moreover, after our shoot, Kevin and Loretta followed up with us offering some information on family friendly sights to see while in Hawaii. Lastly, Kevin put together a collection of photographs into an amazing leather-bound album. The series of photographs he selected into beautiful collages demonstrated another layer of his artistry; the overall presentation showcasing his work were all top-notch quality. Anyone can be a photographer, but it takes someone like Kevin Lubera to be a true artist. Like our wedding rings, the photographs Kevin captured have been added to our family heirlooms. Thank you Kevin for sharing with us your unique God-given talent. read more

I had long admired a college gf's family photos also taken by Kevin so when my husband and I traveled to Hawaii last month with our new baby boy, I made sure to contact him to schedule our first family portrait session. Not only are our photos just stunning, but Kevin himself is a big part of my rave review. He was prompt in replying to my emails, flexible, easy going, offered great tips, and just so great to work with! My husband who only met him the day of kept commenting how Kevin had such an eye for detail, but also great at keeping the mood relaxed. At the end of the day, we had FUN and beautiful images that captured that, not forced smiles and cheesy poses. I look forward to the next time we're in Hawaii and taking more photos with Kevin will for sure be on our must-do list. I would highly recommend hiring Kevin Lubera for your family/ maternity/wedding photos. You will not be disappointed! read more

My husband and I have relied on Kevin to capture the most precious moments of our lives. He has immortalized our engagement, wedding, our twins as newborns, and our growing family throughout the years. Kevin has always surpassed our expectations as a photographer. He is able to combine the elements of nature, whatever surrounding, and his subjects, and create these masterpieces! We have his work up all over our home, and have endless compliments on them. As well as being very professional and prompt in his correspondence and product, Kevin creates a warm and comfortable environment during the shoots so that we enjoy having our pictures taken. We are ALWAYS pleased with Kevin's work, and we look forward to the next occasions we get to work with him. We are addicted to, and so impressed with Kevin Lubera Photography. read more
