Barbi was amazing! She took a ton of photos, they all came out just beautiful. Barbi was super kind, friendly and made us feel comfortable. She got my kids to smile. My family and I were searching for a photographer for our family trip to Honolulu back in July 2023. We were referred to Barbie from a friend. Barbie was great from the beginning! She's friendly, personable and was really patient with my kiddos. I was a little worried about coordinating everything with the five hour time difference but she made it easy and efficient. She was really good at listening to what I had envisioned for our photo session. I will say if you are particular like me I would def send her photos of what you like and don't like. That way you both are on the same page. We enjoyed our experience so much that we booked another session with her again when we visited last October of 2024! Her business deserves to be featured everywhere! I don't know why it took me so long to leave this review! Book with her. She will not disappoint! read more

I booked a 30 minute photoshoot a few months ago for family pictures in November. I got an email response back quickly to confirm. The email said that they would be sending over a list of spots for the photoshoot soon. I noted in the booking that I had no ideas on locations so we're open to suggestions. I didn't receive that list but wasn't too bothered because the photoshoot was months away. It is now October and still haven't received the suggestion list so I sent a text to them and asked if the list could be sent over so we could pick a spot and plan our outfits. The text was read and I never got a response but I gave them a few days, just in case they were extremely busy or needed to figure things out on there end. After discussing it with my husband, we decided to just cancel the photoshoot since our appointment is a little over a week away and I still haven't heard back. I sent a text over canceling the appointment and they responded very quickly to that. A little disappointed with how this all played out.. especially after reading so many positive reviews.. read more

Barbi is the absolute best ever! It was a bit nerve wracking to try and find a family photographer in Hawaii all the way from California but I came across her page/website and found the perfect photographer. Her website is user friendly and her package and pricing was listed so there was no need to call around for quotes. She had great packages to offer and I love how you can also schedule your session online and seeing all her availability to plan ahead. We booked months in advance. It was our first family trip to Hawaii and we wanted to capture some memories while we were on vacation but I was so worried about our youngest and whether he would be able to cooperate. Barbi was so great with my kids and very patient. Her knowledge of the area helped out tremendously so we were able to get photos with sand, rocks and even water. She's very responsive and thorough with all the details. She provided so much comfort and confidence and I gave us faith we would have some great photos and we did. She is the absolute best, completely understood and took the time to hear my concerns and help navigate to get some of the most amazing photos we have to treasure. We are so appreciative of all her efforts and communication during our process and the distance was never an issue. She goes above and beyond for her clients. Thank you Barbi read more

Barbie was absolutely incredible! This was our first photoshoot together as a couple, and also our first visit to Hawaii, so we really wanted it to be a memorable experience -- and she made it even more than that! From start to finish, the shoot was fun, relaxed, and full of laughter. She gave us little tasks and prompts that made everything feel natural and playful, and her fantastic eye for detail captured genuine moments perfectly. The photos came out beautifully -- full of warmth and emotion. Barbie's energy, creativity, and professionalism made the entire experience unforgettable. We're so grateful for these beautiful memories and can't wait to work with her again! read more

I appreciate Barbi so much and thank her for shooting our outdoor family portraits earlier this month. We as a family made a last-minute, difficult decision to have my mother undergo traditional chemo for the second time around. Her wish was to have family portraits done before treatment started, in the event that she would lose her hair again. So here I was on a Friday, frantically researching and calling for quotes here and there, and Barbi was so very accommodating and immediately responded on Yelp message. She explained how the session would work and provided suggestions on photoshoot sites, taking into account my mother's weakened condition. Barbi explained later that she had a close family member diagnosed with cancer and the matter was very close to her heart. I appreciated her concern and sincerity to help accommodate my family, especially through these trying times. She offered the photoshoot session at no cost, in part because she works with a charity for patients like my mother. I was surprised but appreciated the thoughtful gesture. Barbi made us feel relaxed and took extra care of my mother who was a little emotional and physically tired. We took breaks here and there at her discretion which was nice. Honestly, I could not think of a better experience! My family even commented afterwards to me in private that they were thankful the photoshoot happened and that my mother was happy to have her loved ones together on this rare outing. They all loved their experience on the photoshoot with Barbi. I cannot recommend her enough. The digital gallery was made available two weeks after the shoot. We love every single picture!! Mahalo Barbi for your kindness and expertise in making this a sweet memory for my family. read more

Barbi was the utmost professional. She was thoughtful and intentful during our entire session truly invested and engaged with myself and Ohana. Barbi I absolutely Amazing!!! We are from Ca and traveling to Oahu to celebrate our anniversary. Barbi was the first to respond, had the best price, extremely communicative and very detailed! When I came across Barbi's website, I absolutely knew I wanted her to take my family's photos. It was helpful that she provided various locations for us to pick from. In our session, she was very patient and really was able to connect to all of us at varying ages. Couldn't be happier with how our pictures came out! I don't know how she is able to capture moments so elegantly, but I highly recommend her to anyone that asks! Thank you, Barbi! read more

So glad I found Barbi!!! My fiancé and I planned a trip to HI on our Spring break, and I wanted to plan an impromptu photoshoot for our engagement. Our first professional photography session ever. Barbi was available literally within a week or two of when I contacted her, and her online scheduling was super convenient. She responded very quickly and did a great job communicating with me. Didn't require a deposit to schedule a session, which is non-conventional for a photographer and takes a lot of trust, but I love that about her and her business method. Prices are affordable and transparent. We did Collection 60, 1 hour with an outfit change. She gave me an address, and we just showed up! We decided to go to Waimanalo, and that morning it was super windy. Out of everyone's control. She was flexible in going elsewhere, but we stayed and made it work. Looking back, should I have gone elsewhere? Yes, just because my hair was flying everywhere, our clothes caught the wind, and the sunrise was cloudy and muted at times (I really wanted the colorful pink sunrise), which did impact the pictures. Though they turned out lovely, still! My partner was a bit nervous and probably needed someone to tell him exactly what to do with pictures in terms of where to look, how to smile, where to put your hand, etc. I think we both would've liked more direction/instructions to ensure we looked our best, so make sure you really study how you want your pictures to turn out before your session or show Barbi inspo pictures. I showed her some pictures of poses I liked at the beginning of the session, and she was super open and willing to try. Keep in mind you can't expect your pics to look exactly like the inspo pics! We paid online after the session. The photos came back super quick! They were beautiful, easy to download online. She worked with us to pick pictures we really loved, and we so appreciate her putting the extra time in doing that. I highly recommend Barbi, and next time we are in Oahu with family, would definitely trust her with taking our family photos. read more

The hubby and I booked a trip to Hawaii for my 30th and took the family with us. Goal of mine is to get in a photoshoot of the trips we take (if possible) and this one came out so good because of Barbi When I was doing research to find someone she answered all my question before I had to even ask most of them. It was the best and easiest task to book with her. Her photos were just the cherry on top. She was such a fun spirit to hang with and made everyone feel so comfortable. Here are some from our shoot. We just received our photos from our 30 minute family portraits photo session with Barbi, and I can't stop looking at them!! From the time I booked her, she had great communication: discussing location options, time slots, considering traffic, directions, parking, bathrooms etc. She was able to get a lot of shots in that timeframe and my family felt very comfortable around her (not easy with a 1 year old!). She was extremely accomodating. The final photos were ready in the time that she quoted. Just wanted to say thank you, Barbi! We will definitely recommend her to our friends and family who visit O'ahu. read more

Barbi was the best photographer we have worked with- hands down. My husband and I aren't particularly photogenic or camera-friendly people. We did a maternity shoot and Barbi made us look amazing! All of our friends and family were raving about the photos. She gives such an attention to detail to make sure YOU look great in the photos (for example she noticed a flop in my clothes, said it "bugged her" and fixed it so that I could look excellent in the photos!) She was super personable and also made us both extremely comfortable, enough to laugh and be ourselves (it takes a special personality for a photographer to do this, because we've had 3 other photography photoshoot experiences before with other vendors and did not have the same comfort level). Barbi also worked with us to get the lighting exactly as I wanted: a bright, happy, sunny lighting without being washed out. She was so professional and clearly very knowledgeable about her trade. The photos turned out better than we could have imagined. We strongly recommend Barbi. She's personal, professional, and will make sure she does a good job. If we ever want a photoshoot in Oahu again, we will be contacting Barbi! read more

I can't say enough praises for the photos we received by Barbi. She got our 4 month old baby to smile and it's remarkable how many photos she took in an hour. We met her at the hilton lagoon off of her suggestion. I definitely recommend her. read more

Barbi was wonderful! My husband and I found her online as we made a last-minute decision to go to Oahu for our babymoon. Her prices were very reasonable, and she was very quick to respond to us. We gave her an idea of the type of photoshoot we wanted (beach type), and she was quick to provide us with some options. She gave us a location and time to meet up. Originally, I was thinking of doing it in the daytime, but Barbi let me know that it can get pretty uncomfortable for someone far enough along in the pregnancy to do the photoshoot during the hottest time of the day. I'm so glad I listened to her! We changed the day and time to do a sunset photoshoot. When we got there, Barbi was waiting for us and made us feel so comfortable. I was nervous because my husband and I have never done a maternity photoshoot before, but Barbi made us feel so relaxed. There were some amazing photos of us laughing that turned out to be some of my favorites. Both my husband and I would HIGHLY recommend Barbi to anyone who is planning on doing a photoshoot. She was amazing. She was also quick to get the photos back to us, and we were able to download our favorite ones. Both my husband and I are so very happy with how everything turned out. read more

I was in Honolulu on vacation with my son. I was really surprised that the resort did not offer photo sessions, as we have utilized this service on prior trips to Hawaii and Mexico., Luckily--Yelp to the rescue! I found Barbi and I'm sure glad that I did! She met us on the beach close to our hotel. She was warm and friendly and even got my grumpy 13 year old to relax and smile. The pictures were wonderful and will serve as a treasured memory of our trip to Hawaii. Mahalo, Barbie! read more

I met Barbi through booking with Powerful Pauses photography and I cannot rave enough on her exceptional customer service. When I requested a date, her and Hosanna were so accommodating. Little did i know my boyfriend, was planning a proposal and they still rescheduled to work with the surprise! When we met Barbi on the day of the shoot, she was great in explaining to us how to best set up poses and what to remember while we were posing. That made us feel a lot more comfortable and in our element. I also really appreciated how she wanted to capture as many candid moments as possible. We enjoyed every minute of the shoot. The pictures are amazing and we're so happy! Thank you very much Barbi! I hope more people on Oahu learn about you!! read more

Barbi is such a wonderful photographer and person. We booked engagement photos with her and she was very thorough with instructions and picked a perfect photo location. Unfortunately the wind was too strong that we couldn't shoot, and she tried to accommodate us again while we were there. Unfortunately we could not do another session, and I thought that was the end of this story, but today Barbi reached out to me and sent me a few photos that had managed to look cute in the crazy wind. If you want to work with a photographer that is professional, responsive, easy-going, fun, attentive, patient, can make the whole family smile, and you want to walk away with beautiful photos at the end of your session... definitely book Barbi! From day 1, anytime I text Barbi and had questions, she responded right away. When I asked for suggestions and recommendations, she went out of her way to research information. The day of our shoot, she communicated her ETA and as soon as we met her, she made my family of 5 feel comfortable. We went right into our session with her giving us direction and tips and tricks with poses that weren't overly posed or ackward. Our session did not feel rushed at all, we took our time. She took her time with our photo shoot. She made our kids smile from ear to ear and they responded to her with ease. She is very patient and attentive, as she waited for us to do our next pose or waited for the kids to be ready as they played in the water. She made sure to ask us if there were any poses that's signature to our family/my husband and I, or if there was any other photo ops we wanted or missed. It felt like we were having a session with a good friend that just happend to take pictures. When we received our pictures, about 2 weeks after our session, we were all in awe! We couldn't believe how beautiful they came out with our family as the subjects and Makapu'u as our background. We felt that Barbi captured exactly how our family is, natural, relaxed and fun. We can't wait to print, hang up and send our photos to our family and friends. Thank you, Barbi, so much for our beautiful photos for us to cherish always. You are truly talented at what you do. read more

Barbi is amazing! We had our maternity photoshoot during our babymoon in Oahu, she found the perfect location after I explained what I was looking for. The pictures came out beautiful, the edits, the angles the lighting. It's just perfect! I'm a very picky person and hard to please, and I cannot be happier with this service and the results!
