I had a wonderful experience working with Nicole. The session included photographing myself in graduation regalia, partner photos with my boyfriend, and anything she could capture of my dog. I know, perfect 5 star reviews are few and far between on Yelp. "Maybe these are fake", you might be thinking. Well, absolutely believe the hype because Nicole is amazing!! Our family was having a little holiday reunion, and since we were all flying in from different parts of the world, we wanted to schedule a shoot to capture the occasion. We contacted a few photographers whose portfolios we liked, and Nicole was not only the quickest to respond and the friendliest, but also one of the most reasonably priced considering how gorgeous her photos are. She communicated with us so well, and as we got closer to the date of the shoot, she made sure to give us weather reports and let us know that we had some flexibility with our date/time just in case the weather wasn't cooperating. That helped ease our anxiety so much (who wants a shoot in the rain?). We ended up rescheduling the shoot for the day after and at a different time. The shoot: We are fairly awkward in photos, but Nicole made us feel comfortable and like ourselves. We had 3 kids and 1 infant in tow, and she engaged really well with them and made them giggle and laugh. We never felt rushed, and she made sure to both give us direction and also allow us to suggest some shots. She had sneak preview shots for us 2 days later, and had all pictures shared in 4 days. We had her take photos of our family back in 2011 and I wanted to do another session in 2017, but our schedules didn't work out. Nicole was amazing to work with! We got family pictures done at Ala Moana Beach Park-- my husband, me and my 19 month old daughter, Liana. Nicole was early to our meeting and timed it perfectly to get pictures before and during sunset that day. She was easily reachable before the meeting and was flexible with meeting times. She was very patient with my young daughter who didn't want to smile for the camera or be directed to go a certain way. Instead of being frustrated, Nicole would distract Liana to go a certain direction and catch her smiling. We changed scenery several times to keep Liana happy and she caught gorgeous pictures of her (and us as a family). She even borrowed somebody's puppy to catch my daughter at her happiest! The pictures caught the joy in my daughter's face as she held the adorable doggy. It was so touching. Originally my plan was to go to Oahu last September..I contacted a bunch of photographers I found on Yelp(thanks yelp) to ask about family portraits. Nicole got back to me right away and I was impressed by her portfolio on the website. Unfortunately the trip fell thru due to some shady timeshare guy but whatever, I let Nicole know about that and she was cool whatever, I told her I'd try and come again the year after. Fast forward to May this year and I shot her a email and as usual she got back to me right away and we set up a date and time for photos. As the date neared I kept on emailing her about stupid stuff and called her about what we should be wearing also about the weather blah blah blah since the weather forecast says rainy on our scheduled date. Day of the photos, I texted her since we were all up early and she was cool with starting it early..then she texted me to say she was outside our hotel and just chilling...GREAT! get the photos done 30 minutes early which worked out awesome for us. Visiting Hawaii...what a great opportunity to have some family photos taken. Having never been to Hawaii and not having any established relationships with Oahu-based photographers I turned to Yelp to help find someone. That someone was Nicole Seu. Communicating via email ahead of our arrival, Nicole and I discussed logistics, settings and our objectives for the photos. When we finally met, it was like connecting with an old friend. She gave us hugs and while we waited for a brief rain squall to pass, we talked about the photo shoot. Never once did we feel like we were "on the clock" and Nicole's easy going manner really helped to create a relaxed environment that showed up beautifully in the photos. Over 40 or so minutes, Nicole took over 80 photos. We were in a constant state of movement and rotation in front of the camera--pictures of the family, pictures of the kids, pictures of the adults and so on. Everything was exactly as we had hoped. Relaxed. Fun. Beautiful. __________________ When we were still making arrangements via email, I told Nicole that we wanted the photos to be casual and fun, with a strong balance of the family and beautiful Hawaii. Let me first summarize by saying that Nicole is an amazingly awesome photographer and our pictures were fantastic. The background was that my wife and 20 month old son were visiting Oahu and wanted to take some family portraits and initially wanted to do it in studio but came across Studio 3511 via a yelp search. We were hesitant thinking that outdoors might be hard to capture a rambunctious little toddler but the previous two reviews sounded good, plus there's no better way to capture Hawaii than outdoors. We contacted Nicole via phone and later email and she was extremely responsive and provided many options for locations to take the shots. We chose a beach park and harbor beach near Waikiki and met her there and as expected, Henry was not the most cooperative little guy, preferring to run around and not face the camera. Nicole was so patient and tried different ways to get him to smile, keeping up with Henry and accommodating his preferences to keep him happy. After the two shoots, even though we had a lot of fun and Nicole kept Henry happy, we weren't sure if she was able to capture any good pics of him since he was moving so fast and would only pause a second to smile or look at the camera. A few days later, she send the results of the shoot and what a wonderful and pleasant surprise! First, we didn't expect to see them so soon and we couldn't believe how many great shots Nicocle was able to get! She's truly an amazing and gifted photographer! Family photography is a tricky thing. It can be an ordeal getting everyone to cooperate, let alone look good, for the camera. I have two daughters. Neither will perform on demand. My one-year-old was simply not having it that day. My four-year-old did better, but she tends to do the fake smile thing all. Still, Nicole managed to produce numerous beautiful shots of the girls alone, together, and with my husband and me. She adjusted her schedule to accommodate the tides at Black Point. The natural environment proved to be an excellent backdrop and the lighting was perfect. We did the shoot in 20 minutes, had a lot of fun, and would up with a CD of beautiful photos, including one for our Christmas card that everyone complimented.
