This is my first yelp review. I read yelp reviews often, but I've never felt compelled to share my opinion before. However, I know how many choices there are for wedding photographers/photographers in general. It's overwhelming and stressful because who does not want beautiful photographs? The pressure to find the perfect person to capture your day is real. Maybe more so for me (than my husband) because it was my top priority in wedding vendor importance. (His was the food/alcohol). But I'd love to share how working with Jason made our wedding extra wonderful.
I did a lot of wedding photographer research via instagram. After months of pouring over beautiful feeds I decided to contact Visionari. Their photography aesthetic is cohesive and right up my alley. I consistently pressed the "like" button for pretty much everything they posted. Their correspondence is top notch and Leanne (the account manager) was so helpful. Visionari has several photographers but luckily we won the photography jackpot in my opinion and got Jason. I am reviewing him here (instead of on Visionari's yelp even though I loved my experience with them). This is because if I have any upcoming events that need photography, I am contacting him directly to ensure he is our photographer. I would seriously be flexible with my future event dates so I could factor in his availability.
Your wedding day is probably the most beautiful day you can ever hope to have. You expect wonderful photos from professional photographers. Wedding flowers, gauzy veils, billowy dresses and diamonds are so pretty in general, you figure you're bound to get some nice photos. However, Jason's eye, composition and knowledge of how to pose two people beautifully and gracefully made our photos exceed all of my wildest hopes for our pictures.
I am one of those people that after a photo is taken, ask to see it and then politely request a retake if I have a double chin or if my upper arm looks chubby. I only like photos of myself from certain angles and am not shy about asking that people retake the photo holding the camera higher so my face looks skinnier. I relentlessly delete any photos that are not flattering. I promise it's not narcissism - just quirky, mediocre self esteem that is easily damaged if I feel like I look like Jabba the Hut.
Guess what? We. Loved. Them. All. I did not dislike a single photo of myself that Jason took. Of course, photographers only present the good shots. However with my extremely critical eye, I don't know how this is even mathematically possible because he didn't stand on a tall ladder and take only the angles I thought I looked good in. We booked 9 hours of photography. The posed shots, the candid shots, the ones of our loved ones, the detail photographs were all fabulous. So I have come to the conclusion that he is just one of those talented, genius, artistic people that exist in life but are a rare find.
Besides his talent, he was professional, incredibly nice and quietly thoughtful. My (now) husband was dreading the photographs in general. When I told him he'd better practice the good (not fake Chandler Bing) smiles because 9 hours is a long time - he was kind of overwhelmed. Jason made it painless and put us both at ease from the beginning so the smiles were genuine. His instructions for posing were easy to follow and natural looking. Most importantly, they were slimming. I was about 15 pounds heavier than I would have liked because, wedding stress eating. But I can't tell in the photos! Who doesn't want to look skinnier than they actually are, immortalized in pictures? Everyone.
I had some very specific aesthetic aspirations for our photos. Clean, bright, modern, full of lots of diffused light, and then at night some epic dramatic glowing light shots. He was able to capture all of that. We are truly over the moon about how everything turned out. If you would like effortlessly beautiful photos, we wholeheartedly recommend Jason. read more
