After, a complete disaster at Grandstrand Medical Center, Sept 4-14 2025, this wonderful man…read morestepped in to provide the clarity WE WERE NOT recieving, from Dr Antonio Pepe, chief of trauma or Dr James Haywood Smith. He was so compassionate and very clear on what I needed to know, for the past 9 days. He was honest, direct and made understanding what was happening to my beautiful daughter, Jennifer Ann Murphy, clear. He validated my concerns and offered me the clarity I needed to truly make an "informed" decision. Thank you Dr Giddens. Your kindness and professionalism has NOT gone unnoticed! Thank you, just doesn't seem like enough!

The operations went great and the post operative care was great as well at Grand Strand Medical Center. Cannot say enough good about the operation staff, Dr. Giddens or the hospital care staff. I would recommend all of them to anybody that is not a Type 1 diabetic. Unfortunately being a Type 1 GSMC rules did not allow for patient input for insulin and their ideas of diabetic care resulted in many many hours of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia . Discussion with the controlling Endocrinologist yielded no cooperation so there was no recourse except to checkout of GCMC against medical advice, even though therapy had not been completed. This was necessary in order to regain control of my blood glucose.

Surgery was done in NOVANT Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Everyone was kind, caring and very supportive throughout the pre-surgery, durning and post op. I took a chance on this awesome local Neuro surgeon and i am glad I did! #pituitarytumor

My mother was seen at Atlantic Brain and Spine by Cassidy Pate-Moore, PA, following an acute spine…read moreinjury. She had fallen onto her back in a boat and was evaluated in the Wilmington emergency department, where x-rays showed an acute spine injury. A physician referred her to this clinic, and she was scheduled with Ms. Pate-Moore. The visit was disappointing in nearly every way a clinical encounter should not be. Ms. Pate-Moore was dismissive of my mother's pain and of her requests. Rather than opioids, my mother asked about calcitonin, a well-supported option for short-term pain relief with this kind of injury. Instead of initiating it herself, Ms. Pate-Moore directed my mother to raise it with her primary care provider. I then called Ms. Pate-Moore to discuss my mother's case and her pain management. Rather than listening to our concerns, this provider was again dismissive, and became combative during the call, raising her voice to say she would not allow others to dictate her treatment.

This office is an absolute joke. I was referred by a doctor who believed I had narcolepsy and Dr…read more Torres thought the same so she had me do a sleep study in June. After the study, my appointment to get my results was pushed back (twice) nearly two months later and I was not able to have my results sent to another doctor. I was told the results were inconclusive so I had to do the sleep study again. I am a student and needed a weekend but they had none available so I finally scheduled my study for a week day in November and had to skip class and take off work. Four weeks prior, I called the main office and spoke with Angie to update my insurance. I learned when I arrived at my appointment that the insurance information had not been updated because apparently the two offices do not communicate with each other. Angie said she had told me to call that office which is absolutely not true. Today I spoke with someone to tell her what had happened and that I was upset. She apologized for "my bad experience" but still made me feel like the whole event was my fault and did not have any answers to my questions. What's even worse is the insurance that I had originally filed was still on my paperwork and no one called to let me know my study would not be covered so clearly they didn't attempt to get pre-authorization or assumed I was happy to spend the $1200. I was instructed to discontinue my Adderall for a week prior to my appointment so the week was incredibly difficult for me; without my medication, I fall asleep in public, am often too tired to drive, and can't focus on school or work. This whole experience has been awful. Not to mention the receptionist has been rude at every visit. I've been dealing with sleep issues for a long time and started seeking help in May 2018. I still have not received a diagnosis and am not getting the treatment I need. I'm upset that the staff wasn't willing to accept any responsibility and made me feel like an idiot for assuming that they would be prepared for my visit.
