When you are in the Netherlands you need to eat fish, they have all kinds of sorts you will not find in the US, so you don't want to miss out. The portions are generous, one portion of kibbeling feeds 2 easily. I started of with the Simonis soup a small bowl with an amazingly tasty and rich seafood soup. We had made reservations for ten people, but our group arrived in smaller groups over a period of an hour. The Fish Market was very understanding and patient with us, and we happily enjoyed some wine and oysters during this time. When we were finally all together and had ordered, the food was quickly prepared and served. Moreover, the dishes were presented beautifully and in a grand fashion; the portions are not small, at all. I had the pleasure of enjoying the sole (zeetong), which was very delicious, simply serves with a cup of clarified butter. A perfect combination. The rest of the table enjoyed the mussels, the cold seafood platter, and a mixed grill. Everybody enjoyed their food very much, and it must be said that our group included an Australian top chef; she too was impressed by the quality of the food. One batch of mussels were unfortunately cold when they arrived to the table, but when we pointed this out, the host apologized and was happy to take it back and produce a new, fresh serving. The design and atmosphere of the restaurant is interesting; unlike other restaurants, the Fish Market doesn't care for dimly lit lights or red chairs. Rather, with the white tiles and industrial lamps, they have tried to make it look and feel like you are in the back-end shop of a fish monger. As eerie as that may sound, it isn't. Strangely enough, it makes for the perfect place to have some good quality seafood. Overall, the quality of the food was extremely well, which, in combination with the great service and atmosphere, makes The Fish Market my new favorite in town.

Ooooh the special was the best flavor in my mouth as it was stuffed with cucumber and Walmart, then topped with a delicious smoked salmon mayo mix and crunchy noodles. I've never had smoked seafood in sushi as good as this! Their wasabi isn't your typical green paste, but rather a fresh in house mix like the texture of verde salsa. I usually steer away from wasabi but this was made so well I actually had a dab in each bite. When I visit Holland again, I will definitely come back to Catch.

Then we enjoyed the 'free choice' a-la-carte menu, it was as always just delicious. If you know to appreciate the value of a real chef and attentative service this is your place for great lunch/dinner. Simply one of my favorites and still a quite well kept secret - with real service, something different compared to most other places in Den Haag/Scheveningen. Looking forward to our next visit. Most often we walk there but for those who come by car there is still free parking in front of the door altough it's close to the beaches.
