As the previous reviews are so old, I'm happy to report that things at Vigo are still as wonderful as they once were.
My wife and I, visit f from the States, happened upon this lovely, small-ish place in a neighborhood not far from our hotel. We arrived sans reservations but were welcomed warmly, seated quickly, and brought bread and water to nibble as we perused the menu.
The bread came with butter and a mackerel spread, which accentuated the wonderful European bread nicely.
Oysters on the half-shell and Sauvignon Blanc started the serious dining. The oysters were from the Netherlands and Portugal, while the wine was from South Africa. All were delicious.
For the main courses, my wife had the sea bass while I enjoyed the lobster special. It had been roughly the Clinton administration since I had lobster, and this one made it worth the wait.
Our server was attentive and made sure our questions were answered to our satisfaction before we ordered, then checked back to be sure all was to our liking. It was indeed!
A second glass of wine was our dessert before we headed out into the rainy night. Rain or shine, I'd recommend Vigo without hesitation. read more
