I find it unbelievable that they are not following the Covid-19 laws and putting others health at risk. They certainly had over 20 campers and staff during their camp at Wanless park. At the time, the max limit for outdoor gatherings was 10. I enjoy using the baseball diamond and field with my children and we could not use it because they told us they had a permit for it. When I called 311 I was told they do not have a permit because the city is not handing out permits during Covid and that is it illegal to run a private camp on public city space without a permit. I hope that the park officers showed up and handed out a fine so that this does not happen again. If they are not compliant with Covid safety measures, how can they guarantee the safety and health of their campers!? I will NOT be sending my children to this camp. If you would like more proof about the permit, I can also get 311's response in writing which states that you do NOT have a permit and they are not handing out ANY permits during Covid. The City of Toronto has not issued any permits for outdoor activities as of date and cannot issue permits in the Provincial Lockdown zone of the Covid-19 framework. Due to Toronto being in Lockdown since November and currently in a Stay at home order no Organization should be using the parks for paid programing. I have been aware of the activity at Wanless park as I had another complaint from a resident of the area. Unfortunately I did not have a name or contact for the group. I did ask Park staff and By-law officers to go out to the location and warn the group that they are not allowed to use the space without a permit and the Park is open to the public to use in accordance to the Provincial guidelines.

Entrance: Bottle necking traffic due to filling out waivers, and sign in. Rolling clothing carts are labelled for your party to hold gifts and clothes from your party. Rock climbing and harness climbing at the front is extra. The middle before the trampolines is the small arcade. Then it's shoes off before heading on to the trampolines. It's not a great transition for going shoeless here. Sock it to you here: Air riders make it mandatory to buy their neon green socks. Not any old grippy sock will do but their $5 ones. Staff are placed strategically throughout the jump site. Some are not as engaged or maybe the kids cannot hear them over the loud music. There is one tv to play a jump game and there is no one watching the line ups, so kids can be waiting eternally or get bumped from order. We asked to place an attendant here since kids aren't great at advocating. The floor manager tried but the teen moved to this new position was not happy managing this. An hour does go by really quickly. It didn't smell horribly of feet and sweat so that says a lot.

In the end, my son had a good time and had fun with the trampolines and climbing park portion . . . but it could have been SO much better with an actual chaperone letting the kids know what they could do and where they could go... Along with people actually doing their job, like giving out the gifts to people that were paid for in advance, etc. And remembering the sharpie marker with the t-shirt so that the kids can sign it, as advertised online . . . as if it was a surprise, ha ha . . . anyways - won't be choosing this place again, and won't be recommending! We arrived in the morning with all the little kids and their parents on a Saturday and it was raining. But the park didn't close and it was actually not that bad in the actual trees. However, we did get very wet and some of the wooden obstacles were quite slippery. I would definitely recommend wearing the right clothes! Wearing grippy running shoes helped get through the obstacle course - even in the rain. And the long pants and long sleeve hiking jacket kept me from getting rope burns. It was overall a good time and would definitely recommend it to other people. The only thing is, we were only able to get through 4/6 courses with a short break in between because we were a bit more cautious than other groups. It took us 4 hours so we ended up getting kicked out in the end because it was only supposed to take 3 hours. I wish they had let us stay a bit longer. 6 courses in 3 hours would only be possible for people who are already quite athletic I think. Otherwise staff were friendly, the orientation at the beginning was helpful, and the snacks are a really good price. I think it was less than $3 for a mini can of Pringles or a small bag of chip nuts. There's also water and popsicles available too. Washrooms weren't the cleanest but I wouldn't expect them to be in an outdoorsy place like this.
