This is our first year at the Whitby Yacht club and I can't say enough about how friendly and…read morehelpful everyone has been. The clubhouse is situated at the end of Gordon street and offers a fantastic view of lake Ontario. Amenities are much like those from a well kept small resort with the convenience facilities like the showers, a staffed bar, multiple outdoor patios and communal BBQ for the members and their guests. Since we joined towards the end of this year's boating season, we did not get to experience the regatta and other fun activities like the Octoberfest planned by the club, but we're looking forward to enjoying the full experience next year.

From intro sailing for little kids (called Mosquitos) to more advanced sailing programs (White Sail) to advanced sailing techniques and racing (Broze, Silver, Gold), the WYC is a superb place for smart, active, eager kids who love the water and want to learn many life lessons and skills they will hold onto for the rest of their lives. Our favourite instructor Ian has moved on and now Emma has taken over. My son raves about Emma and the other instructors. Both on water and classroom instruction. The little kids play games too and have fun. Sunscreen required...at least SPF 45, applied at least twice a day. At the end of the year there is a banquet and the kids get their diplomas, have a meal and awards are handed out. Trust me, this is a great summer program. Space is limited. Go to www.wyc.ca and check out the summer school brochure and schedule. We're not members of the club, you dont need to be either. I hope a couple of members review the club itself...seems like a great group of people.

It's on the second floor of the building and houses numerous play structures and stations. For example, a train table, slides, a pretend stage with instruments, art station, massive sandbox etc. everything is clean and safe for kids including babies and toddlers. Everything is contained so they can't escape without being seen. All the kids were kept entertained for hours. For the parents, there is a comfortable sitting area including work stations if you want to bring a computer. The cafe appeals to parents and kids alike. They have all the favourite kid snacks and hot and cold drinks for adults. I had the butterfly pea lemonade and it was refreshing. It is on the pricier side and both adults and kids (aged 1 and up) have an entry fee. However, the quality of the activities does justify the price. Staff are professional. Instructions are clear. Kids are entertained. Definitely an appreciated place within our community!

What a disappointment! The owner was nice, but she has this teenager there to help her and she didn't even get off her butt to greet my child upon arrival. This teen also insulted me when I was trying to register my daughter via email, saying I didn't do something when in fact I did. Not a good experience for my daughter at all. I do not recommend.

I was told when registering that there would be a group of kids of the same age group there. This was not the case. The staff told all the kids they were mixing their food wrong and instead of teaching them the right way to do this task, they took their work back from them. So much for teaching and creating a positive environment. They do not learn to cook here. The most they will do is chop vegetables. May I elaborate to say that the kids made cookies made out of vegetables. How practical. What kid would make cookies for anyone made out of vegetables LOl. Would you eat cookies made out of vegetables? YUCK. My daughter said that for 2 hours during the day they were left to do no camp activities, no games, except a word search. A word search does not take 2 hours to complete. The kids sat there and watched the instructors clean up. They would not credit/transfer my camp fees for a younger child for future classes or refund them. The business gives the impression that it is a babysitting service and not an actual positive learning environment for kids to learn how to cook. I am out just under 400 dollars with an upset kid who begged me not to go back there. In all my years of being a parent, I have never had a negative experience with a camp or children's service provider in Vaughan until now. I understand businesses have their hiccups from day to day but as a business owner myself, I am involved in every aspect of running a business. Customer experience is everything as is the quality of the service that I offer. If you have a business called petits chef academy, it should be run by chefs introducing children to a positive learning experience. I highly recommend Loblaws cooking classes instead. They are fabulous. You will save the lost money and total lack of customer service experience by going there. Your kids will be engaged.

From the get go there was no party host (staff) to help, affiliated with the location. No one to help the party host do a proper set up, no one to help serve and no one to help clean. We had the guests carrying tables and chairs, setting up, serving and cleaning, etc. The parents are not allowed to enter the gym to see their children during the party and or take proper pictures, only at the every end(although we were the only party) and were asked to look through the window, however most of the time our children were in an area which could not be seen. The coaches were young kids who unfortunately didn't have the best of attitudes. The event consisted of 1 hour play and 30 minutes to eat and serve the main food, drinks and dessert and loot bags and clean up However they don't take into consideration the number of guests (16 kids)and only provided 1 table where in Fact we barely squeezed everyone inn when we got the 2nd table together and a 3rd table to place all the food and cutlery. After their 1 hour in the gym all the kids had to go wash up and change back into their street clothes, socks and shoes, mind you - only 1 bathroom with only 1 sink is available in each change room, so that definitely took into our party time! As we were serving the cake in racing mode, the kids who were working their had approached the host on multiple occasions and began to rush her. Seeing as though we were all trying to help and rush, the serving, the eating, and kicking everyone out when we barely had a chance to hand out the loot bags! We had a few words with them explaining this is not enough time and we're doing our best to manage! No one is sitting down and resting- we were all hustling to get the children fed and it would be nice if the employees were there to help! (They claimed they did help - which in fact no one was seen there except for the end when they were trying to get everyone to leave!) Also there was no party or anyone else after us! I can't make a statement on the school itself, but the party itself was terribly unorganized and rushed for the poor host! In the end of the party they gave out coupons to promote their birthday party packages and discounts/ for families who attended and to return- NO ONE was interested. For obvious reasons. We all felt terribly bad for the host as she felt stressed and rushed the whole entire time. The parents who remained at the party mentioned they have seen this happen at another event, and everyone tried to help as much as possible. But a birthday should not be this stressful for the host and rushed with no help from the even on site (especially when you pay money to ENJOY a celebration ) - staff should be more involved and helpful! As most birthdays include a party host and helpers! The facility also smells terrible and we don't feel it is hygienic due to the high level of body odours. We do not recommend this place for a birthday party what so ever. The management should be aware, and more involved and hopefully make changes if they'd like to succeed with parties.
