Flat white on almond milk. Out of shot (doofus=me) muffin of the day, raspberry and double chocolate (delish).

A rainy Thursday in Brisbane and I had an hour or so to wait around for my sister to finish an appointment. Finally I thought, finally I am in the right area to try something in Paddington. Pulled up at the first park I found and whipped out the Yelp app and this lil' guy was in my bookmarks ready to go and I'd only gone and parked directly opposite it. It was mid-afternoon so I wasn't in the mood for lunch or anything too heavy, just coffee and maybe a cake. Coffee was a flat white on almond milk and was excellent. In terms of cake there wasn't a sweet cabinet but there was .. one muffin left! Lucky last Raspberry & Double-Chocolate (white & milk) muffin was mine all mine! It was heated up and SO yum, I wasn't expecting much honestly, but it was delicious. The perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up for a rainy day. I sat by the window and it was pretty much empty inside, read a magazine and people watched for a while. There's a good menu with plenty of variety and all day breakfast is always a plus in my books. The inside of Kettle & Tin has a great vibe and (not that I go out often) would be a great spot to have a meal and a cocktail jug with some pals. The staff were lovely and I'd definitely come back to try more from Kettle and Tin.

I've been wanting to try Bunker for the longest time, and today was the day. I love the vine covered hub, which reminds me of a burrow, and of a cafe that I used to visit back in L.A. Instead of getting my usual latte, I went for the bottled ice dark chocolate (5). I'm not the biggest fan of hot chocolate, as it's usually too sweet and heavy for me to finish (I know, strange, because I can finish a whole Chipotle burrito), but I decided that the unusually warm weather called for an iced chocolate. We were greeted by a really friendly barista who helped us right away - and well - the iced dark chocolate and dark chocolate mocha were pre-bottled, so there wasn't much work. The iced dark chocolate, made with organic milk (I think?) and fair trade chocolate, was quickly consumed! It wasn't too sweet, and I would definitely go for it again. The iced dark mocha was also really good, and not at all grainy, which often happens in a lot of mochas. My only complaint was that the bottles were a bit harder to open (I prefer Bean's bottles), and the straws were too short and kept falling in! The drinks were so delicious it didin't matter though....

I had the Lucy while my friend had the Coffee Ale. The sizes come in Pony, Mare, or Stallion! My friend loved the coffee ale. I'm not the biggest beer fan but the Lucy was light. We started to chit-chat with the bartenders and they showed us this chili vodka! He had me at "Chili..." My friend had the Bloody Mary and she kept raving how it was tomato soup for adults. She loved it! The bartender was great and nervous about creating a drink for me. We went with a pineapple chili vodka with a touch of mint. Yum! It needs some fine tuning but the foundation is set. We were having a great time and as if beer to vodka wasn't enough, we moved right along to tequila! Yes, some quality tequila and verdita. I'm a huge fan and they explained to us how quality tequila is for sipping. We didn't want to leave but the time had come. Thankfully, I know I'll be coming back very soon. Thanks for a great Introduction.

Looking to give a great home to a little puss cat that might not had the best of starts in life and commit to giving cuddles on demand? Well the Cat Cuddle Café is the place to go. You need to book online to visit as the owner, who is super passionate about rescuing and rehoming cats, ensures that the cats are not over stressed by having too many people visit, in addition to ensuring the small numbers per hour timeslot enable you to get some quality cat time. Located in Red Hill Brisbane the little café entrance leads you downstairs to the reception area. When you arrive you are greeted and check-in and then ask to read and agree to some rules................simple rules like: wash you hands before and after you visit the cats, leave sleeping cats to snooze in peace, no loud noises that could scare the little fluffy wanabe Lion cubs. Due to Australian Health and Safety requirements the barrister is located in the reception area which is catless and you can order up your favourite coffee and can take this into the cat lounge. You can view the cats whilst you wait for your timeslot to start and you can see that the lounge is a real cat space. Cat toys, beds, tunnels, a cat running wheel and I even found a mini cat tent make this space cat heaven. There is also an outdoor area too where the little ones can bask in the sun and get some fresh air. When I visited there were a range of cats, some very lively kittens in addition to some very relaxed older cats who seemingly preferred to bask in the sun and watch the kittens do 100m sprints than bother to lift paw and partake in any exercise whatsoever. There is a cat profile wall in the cat lounge so you can look up the names of your favourite fur ball in addition to seeing their friends who have found new homes. There is a table and sofa to take a seat at but be careful you don't disturb a resting cat who may have already claimed a chair for themselves. All in all this is a rather lovely business that is really focused on helping rescue cats find great new homes. So if you are on the hunt for a cat why not visit Cat Cuddle Café to find your perfect feline partner? It is only $10 per person per visit for up to 1 hour and you really get to see the personality of the cats and can chose one that will best get on with you. "Dogs have owners, cats have staff." - Unknown (but feel free to attribute it to me!) Not looking for a cat right now.........well just drop by and have a cat fix. Just by visiting you are helping the company raise money enabling them to continue to rescue and provide a great temporary home for cats looking for new staff to serve their every need!

On a recent inspired Sunday, remembering hearing many good things about Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters, which calls the old Rainworth General Store home, friends and I gathered and spent a leisurely breakfast. For the first time in many moons I looked at the menu with genuine excitement. Of course there's the obligatory cafe items, and comforts with modern twists like a fig glazed ham and cheese toastie, but then it's mixed with surprise additions like a green tea soba noodle salad (yes I went there for breakfast), splashes of kimchi and a tumeric iced chai latte. Tumeric is so 2016 it hurts. As the cafe filled with weekend brunch hunters, we were never rushed as our group of four grazed through our breakfast and stayed on for another round of coffee. Coffee while we're talking that is roasted by the cafe and consistently turned out a exceptional cup both as a long black and flat white. Add in the chat we had with one of the owners about the history of the building and their discoveries of old advertising signs as they renovated the space and you've got me giving this local gem two thumbs up. Pro Tip: there's heaps of space in the back room for prams and kids (especially out in the back vege garden) and for those of us dog loving cafe hoppers - the four-legged patrons are welcomed with ample footpath seating.

Remy's is a mostly help yourself kinda place (find your own seat, get your own cutlery/water and order at the counter) but once I figured that out I was set. The breakfast menu is quite simple with a handful of items you'd expect from a breakfast menu. Today I opted for the Bacon and Eggs on Sourdough which sounded pretty simple but I was in the mood for bacon! Once my meal arrived it wasn't the prettiest picture but boy did it taste good. Let me break it down for you: - the bacon was thick (as described on the menu) and was amazing, who knew making bacon thicker made it more delicious!? - the eggs were poached to perfection. All oozy and good! - the sourdough was magical and appeared to be fried/saturated in butter which is a very good thing! - the salad was basic leafy greens but cut through the greasiness and the balsamic was a nice treat (I haven't had balsamic in a while) - the relish was a nice accompaniment, adding a sweet/spicy component to the meal. Overall it was delicious and filling! The coffee here was pretty delicious. I left here on a caffeine high after consuming a flat white and a long black. The bean is from Supreme which is fast becoming my fave coffee. The service was decent but nothing to rave about. As mentioned before majority of seating is outdoors so not so good is raining.
