Stopped by Kerlaches in Austin to try their Texas-style kolaches, and we ordered three different ones to get a good feel for what they offer.
Our favorite was hands down the brisket and cheddar kerlache. The combination of smoky brisket and melted cheddar worked perfectly together, and honestly, this alone would be enough to bring me back.
We also tried the sausage with jalapeño and cheddar, along with the pork and Monterey Jack. Both were decent, but nothing particularly memorable compared to the brisket and cheddar.
Kerlaches operates out of a food truck, so the setup is pretty casual. Service was quick, and everything came out fresh and hot, which we appreciated.
Parking can be challenging around the area, so be prepared to spend a little time finding a spot.
Overall, Kerlaches is worth checking out, especially if you're a brisket lover. I'd definitely come back, but next time I'm skipping the other options and going straight for the brisket and cheddar! read more
