This is a great store. Really large, and a huge selection of pretty much everything a contractor or homeowner needs for their job or home. What really impressed me are all the window and door displays that allow you to play with each one and pick out the perfect window for your home. The tool selection for the contractor is huge. The staff was terrific as well, all of them had a smile on their face. Orders were not delivered on schedule and frequently incorrect. We were charged $4750 for "hand hewn" siding that was gouged and splintered. The manager at the Bozeman store refused to work with us. The minute I saw the product I said NO, not like the sample. Every other employee, customer and vendor said the product was not properly milled and should have been returned. We spent over $60,000 with Kenyon on our project and told us you own the sub-standard product. read more

Came in here wanting to buy some new Kitchen Aid appliances to replace my 20 year old beige stove, dishwasher, and microwave. The guy who waited on me in their "design center" was friendly. I figured out the models I wanted, we agreed on price but when I decided I wanted to go ahead with the order it was radio silence. Arranged to visit the store to run my credit card and the guy was not in despite saying he would be around. I live 50 miles away. His coworkers said the whole thing could just be done over the phone. They took my number down but no follow up. Other phone messages and emails went unanswered. I was prepared to spend more than $5k and they just blew me off. I know it's strange times with COVID and most products are back ordered but still this left me with a bad taste. So much for trying to support a local business. read more

*** UPDATE*** Not long after I posted this, the manager contacted me and apologized. That says A LOT about a store. So even though we were frustrated with our first experience, we will definitely give it another go, because of the sincerity of the management. Horrible service! The girl at the register had to re-ring us 4 times, in saying that, we had to take everything out of the cart and she had to re-ring, because she "wasn't adding it properly or something". THEN we go to get our wood and she had rung that up all wrong, so we had to go back in to have her correct it. KN would have been out about $81.00 if we had just left with what we had. The quality of the lumber and selection was awful too. There is a lot of competition with Lowe's and Home Depot so close....We personally won't be shopping there with the other lumber stores and excellent service Lowe's has to offer. read more

From the presence of KN in town I expected much more from this hardware store. It's like a limited Home Depot with no one interested in helping. I walked into the small design room and the six people behind theirs desks didn't look up or offer any assistance. Their flooring dept was a few sample stands on the floor. Had to reorder a few doors 3 times. This particular issue is not KN fault- it was a production issue. However, I was told repeatedly I would receive a call when the replacements came in directly from KN staff, and never did. Probably due to staff shortage however, a quick phone call just to update me on an order that's taken 2 months and multiple reorders to complete, seems like a simple task. This place is great. There is just about every tool ever made available at this store. I mean it, there is even a section on tools used purposely for whittling wood... There is a hand tool, electric tool, electrical, paint, BBQ, safety, clothing, storage, lumber, nursery?, and landscaping sections... Don't even bother visiting a Home Depot or Lowes. Good hardware store and all around lumber supplier but our builder used them for our second home, they built the trusses and were delayed by 4 months, I awaited making a review on cabinets until now to see how they lasted- we'll I must say they are falling apart and I already need new cabinets after 4 years living here only 5 months out of the year- the woman who helped with the cabinets left a lasting impression in the negative, she was rude and seemed annoyed that she even had to work on my small kitchen??..I will never use them again unless there are no alternatives read more

Wouldn't even give them one star!!! Went to get a refill on propane tank and there were at least 6 people in the shake by the propane tank refill area. Had to goinside to get someone to fill my tank and asked if anyone could help me. An older Hispanic guy, with a flat back part of his head, said " There is no fucking one here working today". Asked what is your name "I don't have a fucking name"!! He walked as he said that to me. I just left and stood outside waiting for someone and it took 15 minutes to get assistance. Now, I realize that employees get upset when a customer shows up 15 minutes before closing with a job that takes 20. Spending almost $400 on lumber must be a small purchase that does not require decent customer service at that time of night. While the forklift operator couldn't even be bothered to center the load on the trailer, he dropped the load and hurried off. Apparently I took too long to tie the load down, by myself, because a second employee came out and told me I needed to move and secure my load outside the gate so he could close up. Now, I'm no genius, but an offer of help would have been optimal at this point, and fyi, two people finish faster than one. The ladies inside taking my money were nice enough, but that does not outweigh the shitty lot service. I will not spend my money here again. read more

Great crew and the best place to get Stainless in Montana!

Kenyon Noble is great! They pretty much have anything you're looking for. Last spring my husband and I decided we wanted to have a deck built on our home so went to Kenyon Noble, and they referred us to Liberty Fence and Deck whom we called and set up a time for them to come out and give us an estimate. They came out, we accepted their offer, and they told us they would start the project two weeks after receiving payment which we mailed to them immediately. Two months later,, and after calling them several times they showed up to put in the footings. After a lack of communication and lots of excuses, our deck was completed by mid August! One of the Trex boards still has a chip in it and although they promised to fix it, it remains. I would never ever recommend Liberty to anyone. (I could not find Liberty on this site, and for that reason I put them under Kenyon Noble.) read more

Kenyon knoble just started charging for delivery. They may not tell you that they are adding this $50 charge. And will not work with you to dispute the charge because they stated your total. I will not be using Kenyon knoble in the future because they were not clear, and I have always ordered from them because they do not have a delivery fee. read more

When I was 14, I got a job at my hometown hardware store. It was very small but it still took me years to know and understand some of the things we sold. I'm now a contractor and I'm not embarrassed to admit I shop Home Depot, Lowe's, Simkins-Hallin, Kenyon Noble and when I have to. . . Owenhouse. Some have cheaper prices, some have better customer service, some have a little more of this and a little less of that. Some are open on weekends, others are not. Some are easy to get to, others are a little out of the way. I've been shopping at Kenyon for years (I remember when they were on E. Mendenhall). Are they perfect? No. At times even I walk away a little disgruntled with the lack of knowledge or the wasting of my time. But they are the most rounded hardware/lumber store in town and like anything, you have to take the bad with the good. Kenyon is a tremendous supporter of the local community. I'm not sure how many high school and college kids they have helped give a basic foundation to for work. Troy Heusel (manager) is constantly striving to make the Bozeman store better: from Traeger classes to tool-rep. sales, the store is so much more than a hardware store. Sure you can buy things online, but hardware is a category of sales where one needs to go and touch the product, lay it out on the floor, put it together at home and then bring extra parts back that didn't work or purchase something else quickly to fix whatever is broken and move on. In regards to Tracy, sure she isn't the warmest person in the world, but she knows her stuff and she will get you in and out quickly. The last thing I want or need at 7am on my way to work is someone who takes 10 minutes to figure out what the store code for a pound of 3" t-25 screws is. I'll take Tracy any day. read more

Wasted 4 people's day waiting on materials. I'd like to extend a big thank you to "Troy" from the Warehouse, who assured me that our delivery of drywall was "next on the list". I was originally told by the guy who processed my order the week before that it would be delivered in the early afternoon. I called around 1:30 to try to check the status of our delivery. We were assured we were next. 2 hours later, at 3:30 pm, we were all still sitting around, so I called back. "Oh the driver JUST got back," Troy reassured us. "It'll be there soon, he'll leave right away." Another two hours pass. The store closes at 6pm; it is now 5:30pm. Suddenly Troy decides to tell me that our order "got lost somehow" and that they were down a driver today and have been swamped with orders. I can understand if you are short handed and have too large of a workload, these things happen. But if that is the case, TELL ME SO I CAN MAKE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS. To make us wait ALL DAY with a crew of four just sitting around is totally inexcusable. I live less than 1 mile from the Kenyon Noble facility in Bozeman. This has cost me much more than the amount I would have spent on materials with them. I could have saved money renting a U-Haul to go pick up the drywall. I will never shop at Kenyon Noble in Bozeman, MT ever again. I suggest that you don't either. read more

Do NOT buy appliances from Kenyon Noble. I purchased all of my kitchen appliances from this store and within 3 weeks of owning the fridge it began running continuously. I went to the store to discuss my options for repair/replacement and they told me to call Whirlpool. How disappointing. I thought that by paying a little more for the same merchandise through a local vendor rather than a big box store, I would receive better customer service. Wrong. read more

I wish I could give a lower review. Don't waste your time here. These idiots have been jerking me around for the last six weeks. Michael, the metal "salesman" is a moron and knows nothing about the product he is selling. My attempt to order sheet metal took several days of him calling and ask questions about my order that should have been dealt with while I was talking with him in person placing the order. He also lied to my face (that or he's a lot dumber than I thought) and said he would have to wait until the following day to place my order because the supplier is in a different time zone and was closed for the day (This was at 3:00PM on a Wed. in Bozeman, the supplier is in Washington, where it would have been 2:00PM on a Wed.) If he had attempted to contact the supplier and place the order with me there in front of him, then he would not have needed to call me multiple times over the next few days to ask questions about my order that he should have known to ask in the first place, and my order may have come in much sooner. Then when my order finally came in they did not contact me ( I had to call and bug them) and part of it was damaged, (I know this because when I picked up the undamaged part of my order, the sheets that had been bent to hell were sitting right beside them waiting to be returned.) They still, to this day, have not admitted that my sheets came in damaged and are still claiming ignorance as to where the missing part of my order is. I placed the order June 21, 2017, it is now August 5, 2017 and I have still not gotten answers or even a little bit of customer service. Today, I went into the store in person to attempt to get some help. I was told someone would be right out to talk with me. I stood around for the next 30 min being ignored and treated rudely, only to be told Michael, the idiot "salesman", will call me on Monday. This company is nothing but a bunch of morons who are a pain to do business with and have no idea what customer service is. And to top it all off my project is stalled because we cannot continue without the "missing" pieces of the order. Thanks for ruining my summer Kenyon Noble. read more

I have shopped at Kenyon Noble before and had great service. helpful, thorough. But I was in there yesterday with my boyfriend to return some stain we bought but didn't have a receipt for. We didn't want cash back, we just wanted to exchange it for a different color. We knew for a fact the stain was purchased there but we had no receipt to prove it. They had to look it up but could not find the records for selling the items. This part is not what I'm upset about. It was how we inconvenienced the employees. The woman helping us was literally rolling her eyes at our responses trying to help her find the items in the system. She called for help on the radio and the man who responded told us "I'm not about to get fired over a return". We were not asking anyone to be fired. The woman started to get sassy on the radio to her other employees when she was asking for more help at the registers because we were taking up too much of her time. (Which for the record we weren't being pushy or anything. We still bought the other stain color and when they couldn't figure out how to return it, we just took the old stain back home. She was serving us for probably 5 minutes.) Regardless of my other good experiences at Kenyon. This one was enough to direct me to Lowes instead just because I know returns are easier there and they won't roll my eyes at me when I don't have a receipt. read more

Well that was a bummer and a complete waste of time!! I went to KN because they are local and carry the product type I was looking for - a solid surface bathroom vanity sink/counter - one piece. I asked for brochures to look at what options were available. The folks working in the design center department told me there were no brochures available, but that I could look online at doitbest.com. Duh. When I asked about Corian or other similar products other than the prefab varieties carried in the store I was told they were too expensive and that I would just need to make due with what I could pick out online. Who says. They didn't even offer to show me the other options. They just kept telling me they were too expensive. I didn't ask them to determine my budget. They just blew me off. There were very few customers in the store, so I don't know why theY couldn't be bothered to take a few minutes to show me the custom options which is why I bothered to go into their store. If I had wanted to buy a basic sink online, I would have just done that. Maybe most people do choose the cheap prefab versions, but that is NOT what I went in there for. So KN, if your sales are not where you want them to be, tell your sales staff to go the extra distance! read more
