I went to Dr. Berkowitz in college because her office was close and took my insurance. She was…read morefine when I went in for a physical and pelvic exam, but I had a really bad experience with her when I wanted help with a rash. I had *the worst* itchy rash on the bottom of my chin, totally unexplained, and after a week it hadn't gone away--it had turned a deep shade of maroonish purple. I made an appointment with Dr. Berkowitz to get it looked at(my hydrocortizone cream wasn't doing anything), and rather than listening to my problem, she disputed my condition--she told me that she believed that because I was in a relationship, it was a hickey. Why would I go to the doctor and pretend that a hickey was keeping me up at night itching? After I argued with her, she gave me some sample tubes of a stronger anti-itch cream, and that ended up helping. And that night, I looked up a new doctor with my insurance company. However, I have had so many daydreams about all the things I should have said back to her that day...

I love NIM and don't know where I'd be without this clinic! It's one of the only allergy clinics in the country that does end-point-titration allergy-therapy, which makes such a big difference in successfully controlling my allergies. (I used to have to fly from Massachusetts to Dallas for end-point titration!) I've suffered in the past with terrible, debilitating autoimmune symptoms, which Dr Lynch--who actually cares, listens and works with me--helped me resolve with natural supplements, dietary adjustments, allergy shots, and minimal medications. The NIM staff is kind and efficient, and I believe it's no accident that there is low staff turnover. Some staff have been there for as long as I've been a patient. I very highly recommend NIM to anyone suffering from chronic health conditions.

I have a serious problem and I can't get through to my PCP no matter what I do. I wait on hold…read moreforever and when I finally get an operator they say a nurse will call me back, but it doesn't happen. (Ive tried several times). The recording says you can avoid the hold time by sending a text. But that just gets lost in the ether. It also suggests going to the patient portal, but I had to talk to their IT specialist (in India!) just to get the account activated, and then when I did, the interface wouldn't allow me to send a message to the PCP no matter what I did. It kept forcing me to make an appointment, but when I did that, the appointment was never confirmed. They seem to want you to go to their urgent care clinic instead. This practice is badly managed and if you've got a serious problem you could end up in the hospital or worse before you get any help with it.
