I called Ken's due in, in part, to a weak flushing toilet. Their tech came out and said he adjusted the flapper. I didn't ask any question (my bad). I still had to plunge after their service call. About a month later when my plunging didn't fix the problem, I snaked the toilet and pulled out a piece of a plastic clothes hanger I had used to "snake" it with months prior. O NOT USE THESE LOW-QUALITY, POORLY QUALIFIED CROOKS!!! Call Budget Plumbing 864-250-0700 I have used Ken's Plumbing twice now and have regretted both decisions. First Experience: On December 15, 2023 I had a clogged main sewer line and previously called Mr. Rooter to come out and clean it. There was an obstruction that they couldn't remove so I found Ken's Plumbing online and saw they had good reviews. Their quote was extremely high, but I was in a pinch and was willing to pay the price if the work was of the quality they claimed it would be... boy was I WRONG! They didn't call 811 before they dug up the line!!! That is something that every novice homeowner or renter knows HAS TO BE DONE. They ended up nicking a gas line, shutting down the entire street and causing our tenant to evacuate for HOURS! I asked why they didn't call 811 before they dug the line up and the response was "they assumed Mr. Rooter had Already done that." I am paying a premium for this "QUALITY" work and they cut corners on the most basic safety precaution and ended up shutting down the street! Thank goodness nobody was injured or hurt but this was a very dangerous situation that was created 100% out of their incompetence and negligence. Second Experience: Thinking the first incident was just a fluke I decided to give them another chance. People make mistakes and I understand that. On 4/9/2024 I called them again due to a leaky washing machine supply line fitting. They came out and quoted me $800 to replace it! I thought his quote was SUPER high, but again I was in a pinch, so I agreed and scheduled an appointment to do the work. The service technician Noah didn't show up for the appointment. Then I saw on my credit card statement they charged me way more than what was quoted for the original diagnosis fee. I called the office this morning to ask why they charged me more than they said I would be charged. I was being very patient and explained how this erroneous charge was disappointing especially after I had to deal with the previous gas leak...two strikes against them already and I am beginning to lose confidence in their capabilities. Betsy (the phone manager) then tried to gaslight me and say that the gas line incident never happened, and it must have been a different company. I have the invoice from Ken's to back up my position! She was very rude, Noah was very rude and extremely unqualified, and the manager I eventually spoke to hung up on me. Betsy had the audacity to accusingly ask me why I didn't return a call from Noah, after he missed our appointment and I had already called another company to come do the repair. She refused to refund my money for the erroneous charge. I filed a claim with my credit card company and submitted a complaint with BBB. About three hours later Ken, who claims he is the owner, called me and said the charge should have never happened and refunded my money... These people are unprofessional, underqualified common criminals who will charge your card without authorization. Do yourself a favor and skip Ken's, call Budget Plumbing and get better quality work and customer service for HALF the price. Update 4/16/2024 Budget Plumbing came out and fixed my issue in less than an hour for $200. This is LITERALLY 1/4 of the $800 cost that Ken's quoted me, and I had to spend hours dealing with them. It's Sunday, the weekend before the Fourth of July, and we wake up to a leak in our water line outside. I call multiple places to get an estimate of how much it is to have someone come out. Corleys plumbing could not even come out today. Tristate plumbing was going to charge us $289 to even come out today. I called Ken's plumbing and a very nice lady answered the phone and got me into contact with a young man named Chase. He showed up after his previous client that was in Greer. We live in Greenville, so it took no time at all for him to get here. Our leak was coming from under our yard in front of our house. He immediately asked if he could start digging, they charge $199 for digging fees. He showed up at 12:38pm and stopped digging around 4:46pm. He never gave up and even asked us if he could keep digging. Hours later, he finally found the broken water line right on the place that it was leaking from. At this point we were 47 inches deep underground. He is well over 6ft tall and he was in the hole up to his waist. The whole time he was smiling, being awesome and fixed our leak. Turns out a tree that the city planted grew underneath the pipe and pushed up against the water line to bust it. Chase was awesome and needs a raise ASAP. Any other place would have given up and left us here with no water, but Chase got it in all in one day. How awesome is that? Not to mention they charged only a $59 fee for someone to come out here. That's cheaper than anyone I could find. VERY pleased with this service, will be getting his card and now know who to go to in an emergency situation like this. read more

We had Christian, from Ken's Pluming come out to quote a project for us that involved him going into the attic. Christian damaged our ceiling by putting weight on it and causing a nail-pop in the corner of our guest bedroom. It took us a few days to notice the damage as it happened in the corner of a guest room. We scheduled to have Christian and Craig (Supervisor) come back to view the damage. They had to re-schedule on us and so we moved forward with another contractor completing our project. However, we took a video of the damage from Christian before any work was done by the other contractor so that Christian couldn't claim it wasn't him. https://youtu.be/DoG8xUrji4E When Christian and his supervisor, Craig, came out to look at the damage Christian immediately states he did not even leave the platform, a flat area by the attic door. Then changed his story and said, "I mean, I didn't go that far over there." They both noticed we had a new gas line installed, and quickly tried to state that the damage could have been from someone else, fair enough, that's why we took the video and informed them that we had proof of damage before anyone else was in the attic. Christian flip-flopped and was put on the spot by Craig to either state he did it or did not do it. No strong answer came from him and they both left stating they needed to talk with Ken (Owner) and would get back to us. We set up an appointment with Ken's after a competitor cancelled on us. The office scheduler was extremely friendly and helpful. They were then able to move our appointment earlier than expected. Christian arrived exactly when promised, and was very professional and helpful. The problem was located and Christian offered potential courses of action. Absolutely Fantastic Service...with an asterisk. It was mid-day on a Saturday that I discovered my water heater was toast. Thankfully, this wasn't an emergency situation. I had a few days to shop around and decide which WH I wanted and whether or not I wanted to install it myself. The Issue At Hand: My now-dead WH resides in my crawlspace. The crawlspace has a 34" clearance. The opening to said space is approximately 35" x 22". The lowboy-style WH has a 24" diameter. It weights approximately 115lbs and is connected with copper tubing sans a shutoff valve. I usually do all of my own home repairs. However, all those numbers measured in inches versus feet equals me having no desire to uninstall then reinstall a WH by myself. Cost Finding: I called several places for estimates. When I called Ken's Plumbing, I actually got to speak with Ken. I asked a bunch of questions that he was more than happy to answer. However, it was one response he gave that makes this rating a four-star instead of a five star. The Estimate: I explained the entire situation about installing a new WH in the crawlspace. I then asked for a rough estimate of the cost. "About $1300, installed," was his response. This was $200 cheaper than the other estimates I received and the reason I picked Ken's Plumbing. The plumber showed up and inspected the job to be done. He then handed me a Ken's Plumbing price sheet. The cost of the WH with install was $1564. This didn't include the additional $100 cost of installing a pressure tank. Now, when I ask for a rough estimate for anything, I expect the final price to be a bit more than the estimate. Always is. However, $350 more is a bit unacceptable considering the plumber showed me a Ken's Plumbing-labeled customer price list that didn't include $1300 for a crawlspace install. I'm positive that Ken provides these lists to his employees. As such, I'm fairly positive he knew the job wasn't going to be $1300 out-the-door. Also, Ken never mentioned anything about the additional cost of a $100 expansion pressure tank that is, according the the plumber, "necessary in order to keep the Ken's Plumbing [workmanship] guarantee." This kinda pissed me off, but the plumber was there and I needed hot water after two days without. There was also some $49.00 "Trip Charge" on my invoice but it didn't seem to be added into the final figure?!?!? If it was, however, I have no idea why. Maybe I should have asked. Do I believe Ken purposefully mislead me? I choose to believe not. This is the ONLY complaint I have with the entire situation. The Service: As for the service, everything was professional and above reproach. At approximately 115lbs, water heaters are dang heavy. The old one had to be disconnect and moved about 40-feet in a small crawlspace. Then again for the new one. Pipes had to be cut for installation. Bricks had to be removed from my foundation to get the new unit in the crawlspace. Dirt had to be dug to accommodate the taller unit. This was not an easy job to say the very least. The plumber, Kieth, was professional, kind and was more than willing to answer any question I had. After speaking with him, I was left with zero doubt about his experience, knowledge and aptitude to get this job done. He worked his butt off for at least 3-4 hours, the vast majority of that time being spent in crawlspace. I truly cannot speak highly enough of Kieth, his work ethic and the ease of the entire process. Aside from the hiccup I mentioned above, the entire process was professional and simple. I would absolutely recommend Ken's Plumbing to any of my friends. Full disclosure: Ken and I are acquaintances from local professional business events. Once while discussing the issues related to running your own business, Ken once told me something that has stuck with me. He said (paraphrasing) that there are two kinds of employees in his business, those that can afford to eat hamburger and those that can afford to eat steak. My plumbers eat steak because that's the kind of plumbers I hire. Trust me, Ken, it shows. read more

I would give this a zero rating if possible. This plumbing concern is so overpriced it should be illegal. Recent experience: I waited 5 days to get an appointment for a running toilet, two bathroom faucets to be swapped out. I bought the faucets already. Two young men pull up 15 minutes late. Apparently they are using my appointment as a tutorial. They quote me: $199 to fix the running toilet, and $267 apiece to swap out the faucets for a total of $733. I terminated the appointment, paid the $49 appointment fee, called a female owned plumbing concern and the jobs were completed the following day for $300. Some concerns deserve a bad reputation and Ken's Plumbing is one of them. read more

Would rate more stars if I could! I had inches of water under my crawlspace and called Ken's after trying two other plumbers who said they couldn't come out for a couple of days. From the moment that Vicky answered the phone at Ken's until the moment Keith left my house the experience was great! Vicky asked all the right questions to determine what technician to send. Keith met a family member at my house and went right to work crawling around in water and mud to try and find the issue. Once he found the issue he clearly explained what he found and what the fix for the problem would be and what the cost would be. He was honest and showed a genuine concern about the work and taking care of the issue as well as making some suggestions that could prevent a future issue. Cannot recommend using then highly enough. read more

Rating updated to a 3-star review. My experience with Ken's Plumbing wasn't great, but they did come well-recommended by the realty company I used when I bought my house. Had leak in my water line several hundred feet from the house. Initially I was unable to find the leak and called Ken's. I talked with Keith and he suggested a leak detection company to locate it before they came out. I lined up the leak detection folks up and in the meantime, water started bubbling up some ways from the house. Keith and Craig came out the next morning. They precisely located the leak and repaired it. While they were here, I asked them to replace my pressure regulator. They did that promptly. $1,000 an hour plumber! DO NOT USE KEN'S PLUMBING We are trying to get the word out on Ken's plumbing. They are terrible, appalling, awful. Do not use them. Contacted Ken's plumbing about coming to our business to snake a drain. This was not an emergency call, just a normal service call. Their tech was on site for 35 minutes and they billed us $515.00!!!!!!! Once again, this was a scheduled, normal service call. Not an emergency. Then if you try and negotiate a reasonable rate for the work done, they will send you to collection, which they did to me. I have used Ken's Plumbing on several occasions since moving to Greenville. The last visit involved a kitchen faucet and lines under the sink that had leaked. The faucet needed replacing (very old) and the line was repaired. The repairman gave us our options before going forward with repair, and we were happy with the installation and the recommended product. He even replaced a wooden shelf under the sink that water had leaked on and rotted. He was extremely thorough, and very professional. Very friendly staff, in and out of office. I also took a free standing indoor fountain to them just recently for repair. They were able to repair it and I picked it back up within a few days. Everyone in the office is so nice and really does want to make you smile! read more

I strongly recommend NOT using this company. We had a very unfortunate experience with one of their service techs, Jesse who came out several months ago to assess an outside faucet. He said he would get back to us by the end of the week after researching parts availability. 10 days went by - no call back. When we reached out to Vicki at the office she had Jesse call us who apologized and said he forgot and then became defensive in his tone when we asked, "Other than an apology what are the next steps that you can take on our behalf to remedy the situation?" We spoke to Vicki again and asked to speak with the owner to share our concerns and a price adjustment on the work. She promised that he would call us back in a week. Never heard from him. Just spoke to Vicki again - three weeks later and she said they are booked for the early part of next week and was unwilling to accommodate our schedules or make our request a priority -despite months of unresponsiveness and absence of follow through. They also refused to refund our initial service call fee and said that is a customary fee. Per Betty, the office manager, "we are not bound to do anything for you as a result of that charge". I am astounded that they continue to use the slogan, "how can we make you smile"! I received an estimate this morning from Keith at Ken's Plumbing as I requested a quote for the work to be done in my second bathroom in my mobile home. The work was to include a backsplash to the bathtub, installing and hookup of a vanity and toilet and pickup of all materials. My first impression of Keith was that he was very neat, professional and clear in explaining the work that I needed to be done. Since I am requesting the work to be done in a mobile home and have not been so lucky to find a plumber even the largest plumbing company here in Taylors either did not return my calls or flatly suggested calling a plumber specialist with mobile homes. PROTECT YOUR FAMILY!! Do NOT use!! My 80+ yr old parents needed a shower head replaced. They were charged $300 for the 15 minute work. The FIRST time my 80+ yr old father took a shower the shower head blew off the wall. Very clear that the installer cracked the fitting during insulation. My father was injured from the falling head on arms and torso but IF he had fallen in the shower he would have been hospitalized due bone weakness he has. Ken's came out 2 days later and replaced the shower head. No credit given for future needs. They even sent out the SAME terrible plumber who put my father's wellness at risk the first time. Why didn't the plumber check his work?! You know the plumber felt the fitting crack during install! WHY didn't Ken's take this SERIOUS risk to their customer more seriously? Terrible company.
