Dr. Ozkarahan is one of the most conscientious and compassionate medical professionals I have met…read more She is extremely patient and caring and cares holistically about her patients combining mental and physical health and their symbiotic nature. She has recently also released guided meditations to help in these crazy Covid times. I'm really enjoying the series of reflective meditations . Her voice, the instrumentals, and vocals of the artist are very soothing and relaxing to meditate to. I like that they are 15 minutes long, which is the perfect length of time for me. This series is unique in the sense that the guided parts have an excellent mix of focus on breath and thought-provoking content. It's like meditating to a great TedX seminar. My favorite so far is the Gaining Self-Compassion session.

I agree with everything Doug K said. I cannot understand all the bad reviews. It's a wonderful…read moreprogram. You get out of it what you put in to it. I went there for depression and a dependency to pain killers. First, the grounds are beautiful and relaxing. It doesn't make it feel like a mental hospital. I have never seen any hospital with grounds as amazing as Silver Hill's is. It makes you feel warm and welcomed. Second, the staff are amazing. Everyone at intake was very nice and accommodating. The process was quite quick too. As soon as I was brought to the unit (Main 3) I was greeted with a very happy nure who was very nice. I came to the unit crying and she spent time with me to calm me down. Then, there was a psych tech who gave me a tour of the unit and gave some helpful advice. My doctor, the nurses and psych techs were all wonderful people. My doctor took the time to expain my diagnosis and my medication. I asked to be put on an anxiety med that I had before and she was fine doing that. She checked in with me everday. There were groups everyday, all day long. I listened, participated, asked questions and took notes. The psych techs would run a group at night where we would say if we met our goals for the day, why we didn't and what can we do better next time. I was able to get off the unit to go to the gym and outside for breaks. You are also allowed to use the inside pool. By day 3 I was feeling so much better. I left feeling like a new person and I still refer to all the notes I took while there. Silver Hill hospital helped me more than any other hospital did. The social worker was on top of his game and gave me an excellent after care plan. The quality, compassion and professionalism I received from the doctor and nurses and techs was top notch. It isn't a country club but I can see how people would view it that way if they're coming from state hospitlas. As far as money is concerned, our insurance paid for my whole stay so we just had to pay a $1,500 deductible. If you have bad insurance I can see why you'd be upset and blame the hospital but they have no control over insurance. They allowed me to pay my deductible over a period of several months so they are accommodating. I've been to New York Presbyterian Westchester in White Plains and let me tell you, Silver Hill is way above them. At NYP there were no groups. You basically just sat and watched tv all day and you saw your doctor every 3 days. The only complaint that I have is that the houeskeeping staff kept taking our coffee in the morning. We only get 1 canister of coffee with caffeine a day and they took it upon themselves to pour themselves a cup of coffee.

Completely overdrugged me , dismissive of symptoms and psychiatrists dismissed my symptoms to the medication, disregarding the outpatient clinician care plan . Was so sick asked for medical care , psychiatrist told me I could not have ptsd trauma from medical trauma that usually only happened with people who go to war or have sexual assault. Discharged me while I was not well even though I asked for a different choice medication as I was there due to a very complex pharmaceutical injury . I thought this hospital would be more integrative and look at the western medicine machine of pharmacy and its negative impacts , and help fix some of the damage. Tapering ssris can come with reactions abd reinstating can be difficult. All if my history Instead I was further gaslighted , overdrigged, bot collaborated with and switched psychiatrists who truly did not seem to care about my case . Very dismissive , very dissatisfied and dissapointing
