I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Dr. Phan and cannot recommend him highly enough. Throughout my pregnancy, he listened closely to all of my concerns and always took the time to answer every question thoroughly. He never made me feel rushed, which gave me so much peace of mind. Extremely disappointing experience. Phan has some of the worst bedside manners I've encountered -- impatient, abrupt, and totally dismissive of my concerns. Instead of feeling supported, I constantly felt rushed and talked down to. The clinic itself also reflects the lack of care: the office is dirty, cluttered, and not hygienic for a medical environment. Between the poor communication and the unprofessional atmosphere, I never felt safe or respected as a patient. I do not recommend this provider. Expect better for yourself and your health. read more

11/06/2025 To all who read this. I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the lack of communication and unprofessionalism of Dr. Kenneth Phan MD (OB-GYN) and his staff that led to the last minute cancellation of my SURGERY. On November 5, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m, I received a call from Dr. Phan's office (my OB-GYN doctor) informing me that my surgery that's scheduled for November 6th had been cancelled. I was told the surgery could not proceed because Dr. Phan had not received medical clearance from my primary care and that I needed to contact my primary doctor to obtain this clearance. My doctor told me that it was not my responsibility to contact him for medical clearance because it was Dr. Phan's responsibility to request it directly. This miscommunication is upsetting as it caused me unnecessary stress and a lot of inconcovenience. I had already completed my pre-anesthesia appointment the day before and made personal preparations for surgery only to be notified less than 24 hours before that it would be cancelled due to not having clearance from my doctor. Doctor Phan and his staff is NOT PROFESSIONAL and such a VERY BAD IRRESPONSIBLE .! Please DO NOT RISK being a patient under this doctor DO NOT SIGN UP with him! Name: DR. KENNETH T PHAN, MD SILICON VALLEY OBGYN read more

During my appointment the doctor was very professional and patient. They took time to review my medical background and discussed possible treatment options without rushing. The explanations were clear and easy to follow which helped me feel more comfortable about the next steps. I noticed the staff worked efficiently and seemed well trained which made the visit run smooth. It was a positive experience that showed good communication and care. read more

I went to Dr. Phan for my last pregnancy because I wanted to give birth at Good Samaritan and Dr. Phan was the only doctor who has affiliate with that hospital in East SJ area. Pro: Very knowledgeable doctor. My pregnancy was high risk and Dr. Phan was a good choice to go to. He did everything a good ObGyn is suppose to do by sending me to see specialists. I ended up seeing 3 different specialists during my pregnancy. His C-Sec scar also looks very good! No complain. Con: Office is outdated. Still use paper folders. They charge copay up front and cash only. If you use card it's extra. My copay was $15, but if I pay with card it's $17. That's a 13% charge for using cc. I'm not sure if that's even legal. Also every paper you need them to fill out it's extra charge. It's office policy but can't help but feel like this doctor office only care about making lots of money. read more

As a mother who has gone through childbirth five times--both in Vietnam and in the U.S.--I can truly say that Dr. Kenneth Phan left me with the very best impression. He is a dedicated, professional, gentle, and attentive obstetrician. I consider myself truly fortunate to have chosen such an excellent doctor, especially given that I was of advanced maternal age (46 years old) when I had my fifth child. Dr. Phan was incredibly devoted, checking in on me frequently both immediately after the delivery and throughout my hospital stay. He also provided thorough guidance regarding all my questions and needs following my discharge. Once again, I would like to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to Dr. Phan; thanks to him, my baby and I were able to navigate the delivery successfully. I would also like to thank all the office staff, who were consistently enthusiastic, courteous, and friendly every time I visited for an appointment. This is an excellent choice for any expectant mothers in the San Jose area and surrounding regions who are still searching for a great obstetrician. With heartfelt gratitude and respect. read more

Dr Phan! I can't thank you enough for taking care of my baby & I throughout my pregnancy. His office came to my rescue when I had issues with health insurance due to starting a new job. His staff members had no issue reaching out to my health insurance for an hour and trying to help me out with everything. I really appreciate the kindness of his staff especially when I felt like I found out about my pregnancy almost 2 months in and I wanted to be seen. Well I got so lucky! Dr Phan is excellent! He was very knowledgeable and took my precondition seriously which resulted into a very healthy delivery! I cannot thank him enough first of all to document this illness I have for future pregnancies and medical procedures but for his amazing help in finding resources in our area. The most important thing I want to thank Dr Phan was his advocacy for his patients during labor! He really stepped in when I was refused some pain management. I don't think without this I would have a pleasurable pushing experience. Because of this I had the most wonderful and beautiful pushing experience & got to really see my daughter as soon as she was handed in my arms. I felt nothing but encouragement and positivity when I was delivering my baby girl. My partner & I cannot thank you enough for your care throughout this process! read more

First off, Dr. Phan is amazing. He has been a doctor for 24 years and it shows with his execution. But this was the first time I've ever felt so disrespected in a OBGYN office. The customer service was awful. Granted, I was 15 minutes late but I called since I was coming directly after work at peak traffic hour. I arrive and I walk into an empty lobby but on the other side of the counter at least 5 ladies and they all stare at me. I greet them and they don't say any words they told me to sign some documents. And they told me this isn't a primary care doctor. If you're trying to get your check up then you're gonna have to go somewhere else. I said no that's not what I'm here for and I felt really uncomfortable. I had to explain what I was visiting for in front of all of the staff, and I felt super disrespected. After I filled out the documents, I went to go see Dr. Phan, who was amazing. He got all of my request done promptly and respectfully. He took time to get to know me as a new patient even though I was late. After I finished my time with the doctor, I had to get a blood work request and I asked some technical questions about it since I don't work in this field and they kept on belittling me and saying that if you're not busy tomorrow, you could just go get your blood work done. Even though I am pretty young, I work 9 to 5 and I felt super disrespected in the way that they were talking with me and their tone. There was an older lady lady and the younger lady who just kept on making faces at me. I didn't appreciate that and I just said thank you for answering my questions. read more

Dr. Kenneth Phan has been the most amazing OBGYN I've ever dealt with (this being my 3rd child) his mentality, friendliness and more importantly his experience from his many successful births made us feel soo much more comfortable knowing we had a doctor that understands our questions and guided us through everything we asked. Provided great suggestions for what to do and great recommendations for specific products we asked about. His office was very accommodating to work with my schedule for checkups and they always sent my medications on time for me to pickup at my pharmacy. During birth, not only did the hospital staff praise and love him but the care and attention he gave me throughout the entire birthing process was very calming. Once it was time, he had my baby out within minutes safely and his aftercare for me was just as great as the pregnancy care. Extremely recommended OBGYN for anyone! He is amazing ! read more

I came here a year and a half ago. The receptionist were very friendly and kind but the Dr. made me feel so ashamed when I told him I was pregnant. He made very upsetting comments asking personal questions about my job and college. I ended up having a miscarriage as well so I was so upset. I immediately switched gynecologists. I was actually surprised he was like this towards me especially cause my aunt recommended me to him and he knew my cardiologis. I would noy recommend. read more

Visited this office back in 2022 because I was unable to get an appointment scheduled with my original gynecologist and this doctor had something the same week, so I went ahead and book some time to see him. The office itself is unorganized - I was able to tell right when I walked in. I asked if I had a co-pay and the women in the front said no. After three visits I then asked again if I had a co-pay and she said no my insurance covers doctors visit, but I had a feeling that was not the case as I always paid a copay when seeing a doctor however I just let it be. A few days later I get a call from the front desk to tell me I owed $60 for the copays (NOT surprised!) And yes I did pay it of course and I wasn't going to argue because it just worth my time. The doctor himself is someone I would not refer anyone to nor would I want to visit again. He did not help with my concerns. He had snide comments, and tried to force birth control and consideration of having kids on me which is something that is last on my priority list if I have health issues I need to solve first. Luckily, I was able to schedule time to see my original gynecologist and get everything sorted. read more

So of course they set up an induction and never notify the hospital , so I'm here hanging with a nanny lined up and my husband missing work, they have about 4 girls in the front none could send the paper work , they have done this to me before sending to places to get a scan where no one could pick up the phone and ask my insurance where or how could get a prior authorization . I had asked Val several timer are you sure about my insurance being take at this particular place she said yes only to be told no we don't take your insurance . How lazy not to make a phone call Other then that the doctor is super nice and helpful , we have lost two pregnancies back to back and he was super understanding and made me feel well taken care , sometimes I can tell his tired (I'm sure from delivering babies during late night hours ) but always asked me how I'm doing if I have any questions . This is a review from a Labor and Delivery Nurse at O'connor hospital. I have been working with Dr Kenneth Phan for almost 2 years and among all other private doctors who practice here, I highly recommend him by his professional skill set and his heart. He had highly skill set that make him unique: minimal CS rate with twins and breech delivery. We were so forever graceful to have him at the hospital. The most important thing that I like about him is that he care for his patient by his heart. Im 100% confidence to advice you to choice Dr Phan for your OBGYN and Prenatal care and listen to his advice, he will take good care for you and your baby. The nature of being an OB doctor is to have busy work schedule so please understand for him when he have rush at some point. Dr Kenneth Phan is one of the best obgyn I've had so far! I had went to him for my first baby that I had miscarried I was super nervous because I had a bad experience with a previous OB I was going to that whole week I was miscarrying, but he was super nice and makes u feel super comfortable. a couple months later I got pregnant again with my rainbow baby and went back to his clinic. He is very straight forward and honest with you and that's one of the things I liked about him! He is also very on top of the work that has to be done with all patients like ultrasounds, bloodwork, etc... Literally anything u can think of ! There were times I felt so worried or concerned and I would ask if he can do a check up on baby and with no hesitation he would check on my babygirl when I asked. After I had my baby I went to my 6 week postpartum appointment and we talked about birth control. I didn't even have to ask him! he got me in a week later to get that done as well! The girls in front office are very nice, welcoming, and are always doing their job great! Over all I had the best experience with dr Kenneth Phan! I will definitely be going back to him if i have any other babies or concerns. I already miss my prenatal check ups, but I am very blessed my baby is here THANK YOU KENNTH PHAN FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID FOR US ! read more

As soon as I found out I was pregnant I looked up best gynecologists in yelp and that's how I found Dr. Kenneth Phan. This was the second time I was pregnant and it was by far the best experience I've had, the staff is great! Super friendly and super professional. When I was pregnant with my first I went to a clinic to get checked up on my babies progress and would wait for an hour just to seated into a room and another 30 mins to be see the OBGYN doctor but when going to Dr. Phan's office there's little to no wait, as soon as you get there they have you pee in a cup and check your weight then seated in a room where they check your blood pressure then Dr comes. The total time of my longest visit has been 45 mins and that's because I had to be induced and the receptionists has to find out if my insurance would cover me going to my closest hospital. Also, Dr, Phan listens to whatever your concerns are and all your questions, which is another thing I loved! If there's an issue with your ultrasound or your blood work he will explain it in a simple understandable way. (I.e when I had my second ultrasound they found a fibroid and I had no clue what that mean regarding my delivery and the doctor let me know it would probably go away by the time I delivered and that we would monitor it, I asked what would happen if it didn't go away and wether it would be an issue if it got any bigger since it was the size of a golf ball, thankfully by my last ultrasound there was no fibroid.) When it came time for me to deliver my son Dr. Phan was already at the hospital delivering another baby so he'd come in to check my progress and when I was finally able to push he coached me thru the whole thing until I was able to properly push and out popped my baby. The post visit was fast since I had no stitches and I was able to recover fast. I hands down recommend Dr. Kenneth Phan!! read more

This post is so long over due! I decided to take a moment to review all of the comments left for Dr. Kenneth Phan... kudos to the positives! I was shocked to have read some of the negative feedback that were left and I can honestly say Dr. Phan is not that insensitive & cruel. Being that I have been blessed and had the opportunity to work with Dr. Phan TWICE for my prenatal care in 2012 & 2017, he did a wonderful job in tending to my prenatal health. Although I had a complicated pregnancy in 2012 and delivered via emergency cesarean, Dr. Phan was there every step of the way and most importantly, my baby was happy & healthy. Moving forward to 2017, he was upfront about my conditions and checked up on me regularly. I think I was the difficult one in this partnership to say the least. I ended up going into labor 6 weeks early and remember being on the phone with him and telling him I was not ready to deliver our baby and refused to go to the hospital but ofcourse, being the great Dr. I know him to be (Hello? Delivered Twice!), he finally talked me in to delivery. He truly is caring and knows what he's doing. Visits may seem quick and un-thorough but then again, if you have questions, ask. For the most part, he tells me in advance what to expect and things I should know. Before I forget, his staff is great too! Thank you Dr. Phan!! read more

I was referred to Dr. Phan's practice by my insurance company. When I spoke to an employee over the phone, she checked my insurance and made an appointment and said that they accept my provider. I asked the young lady in advance was there a co-pay? she replied that there wasn't. When I arrived to the practice, all the staff were looking at me funny making me feel very uncomfortable. I happen to be a Caucasian female. While they were collecting my driver's license and insurance information, the Business Manager informed me that I had a co-payment of $80 dollars. I told her that the young lady I spoke to over the phone told me there wasn't. I called my insurance company and found out that I did have to pay because it was a specialty visit. I would have been willing to pay but they were already getting me frustrated and the staff kept staring at me, making me feel very unwelcome. This was my first time to their practice! Next, Dr. Phan was standing in the reception area and I told him it was a pleasure to meet him. I was looking forward to meeting with him regarding the uterine fibroid I have that needs to be removed. Dr. Phan told me that 'HE DOUBTED THERE WAS ANYTHING HE COULD DO FOR ME'. Also, I had a CD I brought with me and his staff told me when I arrived that he WOULDN'T need to see it. Kenneth Phan advertises on his web page that he specializes in uterine fibroids. Plus, he states on his website that he is the #1 OB/GYN doctor in San Jose. His team made a horrible first impression and there was a big miscommunication because of the language barriers! Dr. Phan and his staff made me feel that they don't want people of other races like myself, a Caucasian female, coming to his practice! I didn't even get to see the doctor and his staff wasted my valuable time! I left upset and in tears! My insurance company asked me if I would give Dr. Phan a second chance? I told them, "Hell, No!" Dr. Phan and his Business Manager, hurt my feelings! I was so excited to meet him! I finally thought I found a great doctor that would help me get rid of this uterine fibroid that happens to be 19 cm, the size of a grapefruit that has enlarged my uterus causing it to 'bully' the other organs. Dr. Phan failed me miserably!! For those of you that have had positive experiences with him, I'm happy for you! I wish my experience was different! In my personal opinion, Dr. Kenneth Phan is not a good person and he made me realize that I shouldn't, wouldn't and couldn't trust him with my life!! read more

This doctor is the worse and uncompetent OBYN doctor who is doing treats my wife prenancy. For every doctor session, he never inform enough nessessary information about the fetish status. He never took took time go over the medical record before the doctor visit session. He always rushed for last five doctor visited sessions. In fact, he did know why he subscripted aspiratin 81mg for my wife. When my wife had a concerned and questions about her prenancy, he similar reply every things are fine, and rushing to the next patients. The worse part is that he prefers my wife to different places to do ultra sound and blood tests, but he did explain why we need those treatments. when the report come back, he did not explain or inform us about the test results report. Once time, my wife had pregnancy bleeding down below, then we rushed and made a call to his office, his staff just reply stay home and if the situation getting worse then go to the hospital. During a panic time we really need a support and advise from a doctor, but he never give me a call back. My wife is 36yrs and placenta praevia condition, and he is always tell her that everything is fine. Wear the baby support and walk alot, but in fact when we go to hospital for check up, they advise to take a lot of rest due to her complication. Lastly, I would not trust this doctor to help us to deliver our baby. I think he is unethical doctor. He is very rude and did not care or concern about his patient. By the way, I will follow up with medical board complaint about unethical diagnostic treatments. The reason is that the doctor did not inform us about our health condition, treatment process so that he can manupulated the treatment process to extract money from the insurance. Please, please take a deeply consideration when you choose this doctor deliver your baby. read more
