Dr. Hanh Hoang
If there is a 0 star, I would give to this doctor as she deserved it. I have been going to her when I moved to the Bay area 8 years ago, when I first met her, she barely had any experience but I thought it's just a yearly checkup so I used her service and had been using her service for 7 years even when I moved far away because I didn't want to change ONGYN. Four years ago, she said I had abnormal pap but she didn't do anything, two years later it became worse, according to her and I needed the treatment, unfortunately I just lost my job at the same time but I bought cobra insurance so I could get a biopsy from her, I told her I had insurance but she didn't trust me given the fact that I've been going to her for years and never missed any co-payments or deductibles from her office, I always paid. Of course in my situation that time I was scared of what she told me about my health, about that I might need a hysterectomy at this young age....she was cold, rude and condescending, she didn't want to treat me until she could confirm my cobra insurance even though I showed her the proof of purchase of the insurance, money is all she cared about! Thanks God she finally came to her senses and saw me before the cobra insurance kicked in a week later. After the biopsy, she said she could not see my cervix so it will be very difficult for her to do pap for me each year going forward so she wanted me to get a hysterectomy, I got scared. She recommended a doctor she knew but I told her that I might not use him, she got upset and told me if I don't use her referral then she will no longer service me to monitor my case every year anymore.
Anyway to get a hysterectomy is a big decision especially when I'm still young so I was scared, I went to see three other doctors near where I live to get their opinion on my case, they all were a lot more experienced than her, they were able to see my cervix just fine, one of them even asked why Dr. Hanh Hoang waited this long to treat my case? It could have been less severe if treatment was made sooner!
Long story short, I found a very experienced surgeon with over 20 years of experience who is also a Medical Director for a very large healthcare organization, he said I do not need hysterectomy yet, he did a minor surgery and recommended pap test every six month to monitor my health. Going back to this Dr. Hanh Hoang, was her medical equipment not advanced enough or was she lacking the skills or expertise? Why she said she could not be able to see my cervix but three other doctors were able to? The way she talked also very rude, she raised her voice to me when I said I was not going to use the doctor she referred and she threatened not to take care of me anymore if I go with other doctors.
9 months later, I received an email from Dr. Hanh Hoang office informed me that I had a past due payment but they didn't tell me what it was and how much it was for, I had to go back and forth in a few emails in order for her office to let me know what it was and how much it was for, it was the deductible for my last visit with her 9 months ago which I never received the bills or any calls from them about this payment before that. I told her office to let me check with my insurance then will get back to them, I was busy taking care of my sister having a brain surgery so I could not contact them back yet, only within 3 weeks I received collection calls from the collection company trying to collect this payment? What the heck? Is she all about the money? Is she only care about money? She didn't even give me enough time, she has to give people at least 30 days? I called her office and told them that I will pay, just remove it from collection but the refused to do it. I always wanted to write about her malpractice and misdiagnosed on my case but I thought to let it go but since she does not change, I wanted ladies out there to know before they decided to get treatment from this doctor, they should question her expertise and if her equipment is up to date or not, never trust her words too much when come to bigger decisions on their health. read more
