I was not completely happy with my experience with Dr. Stuffman relating to a shoulder injury and…read morediagnosed as a torn rotator cuff tear. Although he correctly diagnosed my problem and my need for physical therapy, he declined to refer me to a physical therapist office. Fortunately, my health plan has a good physical therapist office available for referral and Dr. Stuffman did provide a general order for the therapy. The therapist was very competent and requested that I obtain an ultrasound exam from Dr. Stuffman for aid in understanding my injury and providing the right physical therapy. This required another visit to Dr. Stuffman. For the purpose of thoroughness in making his diagno-sis, I think Dr. Stuffman should have performed the ultrasound (a 15 minute exam) in my initial visit with him. Dr. Stuffman also provided no prognosis for my injury, albeit the physical therapist recommended that I no longer do my upper body workouts with 5 lbs. weights or more for fear of aggravating the torn rotator cuff. On the plus side for Dr. Stuffman, he provided a online video for doing physical therapy and this video mentioned "easy" may be better in doing physical therapy weight lifting. This advise was very helpful because I tend to do too much sometimes

Dr. Richardson was recommended to me by One Medical Group for my concussion. Front desk staff did…read morea fantastic job balancing being kind and empathetic and professional and also efficient with the backlog of patients in the waiting room - my appointment started about an hour and a half late. The exam itself included taking down notes of my concussion and symptoms timeline, and administering a 30-point evaluation that included knee-hammer-reflex-test and some very easy cognition assessments. At the conclusion he agreed with my PCP's diagnosis of post concussion syndrome, said I passed 29 out of 30 points of his evaluation, and come back in a few months if I'm still not feeling better. When I pressed for anything else I could do, he referred me to cognitive therapy (which was helpful in identifying that I needed to see a vision therapist instead - look up UC Berkeley Optometry School Concussion Clinic at Tang Center, they're amazing!). Dr Richardson gave me a copy of his notes after the exam, and I noticed several inaccuracies (saying "patient does not" when I do have something, or "patient does" when I don't have something). Many months later I was seeing a vestibular therapist and when she asked if I'd seen a neurologist and I mentioned my experience, she asked for the name of the neurologist I saw and on learning it was Dr. Richardson, the vestibular therapist said she'd had another concussion patient who had a very similar experience with Dr. Richardson. If you have a concussion, you probably won't have a terrible experience seeing Dr. Richardson, but you probably won't get much help either.

I have seen Dr. Zwahlen a few times now for various issues with back, butt muscles and recently a…read moreshoulder injury. I have had a lot of broken bones and surgeries and hospital stays and orthopedic surgeons who have patched me up in the past to go on to do more stupid stuff. Luckily Dr. Zwahlen is here to help. Because of my awesome partner and I want to be around a little longer I have stopped doing stupid stuff like flying my experimental airplane, stopped rock climbing (and falling), stopped intense snow skiing/boarding (no moe flips), and stopped other activities from which I have some how miraculously survived (I may have more lives than a cat). Given that, I can still do stupid things in the gym. Recently trying to hang for a minute, yes all 60 seconds, I realized something was wrong and dropped at around the 45 second mark. I kept thinking it would get better and it didn't and was starting to think major jacked up rotator cuff and maybe surgery, again. Well after some imaging the good doctor determined "nothing was torn but very, very angry". So going forward, for awhile, no exercises engaging the shoulder except a few very detailed lifts. A lot of surgeons like to cut, that's what they do. So I appreciate it when the knife is not the first response and second when lots of drugs aren't the answer. Hhhmm, may rethink that last part. Already a week in with daily exercises prescribed by the doc my shoulder is much better and this is way better than rehabbing shoulder surgery. Two closing thoughts. If you are active you need an orthopedic surgeon on speed dial. Dr Zwahlen is the man. If you sit on the couch all day you need a dietician and a mortician. Also, before seeing the good doctor you might want to have a few esspressos to match his energy level.

Rather than saying he would do it after telling me last Spring that my shoulder was "hanging by a thread", he left the room after telling me I should modify my routine." Luckily I found a good surgeon affiliated with UCSF, had surgery on August 20, and am pain free. What Zwahle did was unethical. If he couldn't do the surgery, he should have said so. Instead his assistant just said "got some analgesic cream"!

I went in to address a pinched nerve in my back that was causing me severe pain. I needed immediate attention since I could not perform my job due to shooting nerve pain starting from my neck, across my shoulder, down my arm and to my finger tips causing numbness. He ordered an MRI, I waited one week before calling the MRI office....they had not received it. Called Park's office, asked what happened, they hadn't sent it. He ordered a second MRi, went through the exact same experience. After the second MRI he sent me to a specialist. Taking about passing the buck and failing to address the issue. When I asked this doctor what could have caused the pain, his response was "go to church, ask Jesus". So I did. Guess what Dr. Parks, the response I got was "Ask a professional, that's what I gave the gift of education for". Now that last bit wasn't an actual quote but you can understand why I don't trust this doctor or his assistant with my health, or life. I highly recommend going to another specialist, even if you have to wait a little longer. Dr Parks, thanks for never returning my phone call, or did your assistant forget to tell you....again?

I'm a longtime patient in Dr Park's practice and I must admit that I jokingly express love for him…read morewhenever I undergo a procedure because his treatments greatly improve the quality of my life. I suffer from acute pain issues and his office is a safe place for me. Chronic pain patients often endure additional pain during specialist appointments at the hands of uncaring physicians. That is not the case with Dr Park, as he takes the requisite time to listen before he verifies your condition with diagnostic tests and physical examination. My orthopedic doctor often tells me that he trusts Dr Park to treat his mother and I would do the same. Additionally, Cecilia is always happy to greet and care for his patients and the coordination of all procedures has always been seamless. He's literally the only doctor whom I trust near my spine!
