Dr Blank was warm and friendly. He made me feel very comfortable! He was easy to talk to and he listened .

I've been going to Dr. Blank for years -and am not shy about switching doctors if something isn't right. He is wonderful, calm, kind and patient. During annual examinations and pap smears he has a nurse in the room, explains everything step by step before and while he is doing it in a very calm, reassuring and soothing tone. He doesn't go quiet, he is talking to you while examining you and he's thorough but quick. He tells you it is going to pinch but it is over before you know it. After the examination he leaves so you can dress and then he knocks and comes back in and talks to you to see if you might have any other medical issues that need addressing. He was so helpful when I developed breast cancer, needed a double mastectomy and didn't know who to turn to. He immediately recommended a couple of excellent surgeons and I chose one. Did he let it go at that? Dr. Blank checked in and messaged me to make sure I was ok during that hard year. I was gobsmacked and really felt he cared. And, yes, thanks, I'm doing great now. You feel his empathy and caring. His nurse Luce is lovely, and as kind and gentle as he is. She was warm and professional too. And the ladies at the front desk and those who schedule my appointments were kind and helpful. He hires great people and it makes such a difference! I went for my first visit w Dr Blank yesterday and I couldn't be happier. He's a very attentive doctor and asks questions; also provided a safe space and comfort for me to ask questions. The office staff are also great and super friendly. The phlebotomist(I think her name is Karen) was incredible and very quick! Probably my best experience with blood drawing. I have moved a great deal and had several gynecologists in different parts of the country. Dr. Blank is by far the best gyno I have ever had. He is professional, friendly, open, and works efficiently to get the job done. Ladies know when I say it can be an awkward experience trying to make conversation from over those stirrups. Dr. Blank has great bedside manner where he'll chat briefly when he enters the room to make you comfy, asks you about concerns, and spends the rest of the exam (with a nurse present) giving you a step-by-step of what he is doing next. There's no feeling awkward or guessing with him. After the exam, there is always a meeting in his office where he talks briefly about healthy lifestyles, then discusses the exam, and asks you about additional questions or concerns. I like these meetings because 1. I am a heavier woman, but the healthy lifestyles discussion is NEVER fat-shamy, just a general overview, especially if blood pressure and stuff are normal and 2. I feel like Dr. Blank genuinely cares when he asks for further questions or concerns. He has also always referred me to good other doctors, if I needed it. Lastly, I just moved to California from DC. Dr. Blank followed up through email about my move to say he could assist in finding another doctor and if I ever had any health concerns, could always reach out to him from afar. It was a very appreciated email and again, felt very sincere. I am going to miss Dr. Blank. A good gyno is worth their weight in gold, in my opinion. It's hard to evaluate Dr. Blank as a doctor given the alarming debacle that encapsulates this practice. While I've only had female OBGYNs up until now, I decided to try Dr. Blank when he came highly referred by my dentist. I began seeing him in 2013, and was welcomed with negative experiences by his office starting on Day 1. To start with, I clearly booked my appointment with Dr. Blank - explicitly stating his name, not the practice at large. Yet, much to my surprise, upon arriving, I was walked back to another doctor's exam room. I politely clarified and asked where Dr. Blank was, stating that my appointment was with him (I booked it out weeks in advance, and clearly taking time off from work when I travel weekly is no small feat). The office staff made up some excuse, then stuck me in Dr. Blank's office - to speak with him pre-exam. They acted annoyed - as if it was my error. Next visit. After I responsibly transferred my own medical records from my OBGYN who I LOVE in San Francisco - a doctor who actually believes in and lives the Hippocratic Oath - I was shocked when this office could not find the records. Unlike my doctor's office in SF who has electronic medical records accessible via each and every exam room for my doctor to reference during our visit - to make the most use of both our valuable time - Dr. Blank's office hasn't yet figured out how to use hard copy records - the old fashioned way, as every time I've come for a visit, they seem to have no idea why I'm there. The receptionists are confused. The nurses are confused. And it was recently brought to my attention on Tuesday of this week (3/18/2014) that Dr. Blank doesn't know the names of his nurses (!!!). I proceeded with a few appointments, but unlike my OBGYN in SF, who acts as an interim primary care physician, Dr. Blank's office doesn't want to be one, and views themselves as "specialists". This is shocking after OBGYNs fought and WON the battle to be viewed as primary care physicians in the 1980s. Since Dr. Blank refused to play this role initially - related to a matter that seemed to be within his domaine - it became obvious that it was more efficient for me to fly back to SF and see my OBGYN there, rather than wait for a referral to see an actual specialist here in DC - as referred by Dr. Blank, who is also allegedly a specialist. After my trip to SF, I brought back doctor's notes. I showed them to Dr. Blank, and now he seems semi-OK with my ask. Finally. Once it started to feel like there was some kind of integration between Dr. Blank's understanding of my medical history, and after my OBGYN in SF vouched for Dr. Blank - saying she thought he seemed like a nice and good doctor, based on his note to her - I decided to give him a "go" and stick with him, even though his practice is beyond unorganized. I continued seeing him throughout this winter, and then went in for a follow-up this past Tuesday, 3/18/2014. In addition to the chaos that is his practice, I've dealt with numerous medical billing issues, as his office insists they're "specialists" and bill at that co-pay (which is double that of primary rates) - even though their contract with my insurance company is listed as "primary care". I've spent hours battling this out and asked my insurance company to lobby on my behalf, as it's not my job/responsibility. After tons of back and forth, as well as my insurance company telling me that his office was even rude to them, Dr. Blank's office finally sorted it out and billed me correctly at the primary care rate - but only after my insurance company suggested re-negotiating their contract. Unfortunately, however, upon arrival this past week, yet again, this practice tried to bill me double. I explained the issue to the receptionist, and then all four other receptionists/nurses not only listened to my *PRIVATE* conversation with Dr. Blank's receptionist, but chimed in! In front of the other patients in the waiting area! TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND AGAINST HIPAA. Both at this week's appointment, as well as on the four phone calls since Tuesday (today is Friday), I've been treated rudely and unprofessionally, including having a nurse walk out and refuse to triage me after asking why I was there, and I said I wasn't really sure, that Dr. Blank requested a follow-up, and didn't she have that info in my records that she was looking at? Drama! I've been interrupted by nurses via phone, put on hold, and hung up on. I was lied to - telling me the MMR and Varicella titer tests I requested were "normal" when that doesn't answer my question about antibodies. She later admitted she wasn't looking at my blood test results as she talked to me (!!!). If this practice cares more about profit than patients, then they should understand the role of customer satisfaction metrics in business. UPDATE: Dr. Blank just called me directly. He seems to actually care. Good. Stay tuned... I'm still hoping for the best. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Blank's for 12 years, and he is amazing. He is the warmest, most caring physician, who really goes the extra mile for his patients, such as providing his personal email address so you can follow up with any questions. He is also good about returning calls and does his best to stay on schedule. After your gynecological consultation, he always meets you in his office to leisurely answer your questions. I never feel rushed talking to him, which is a miracle in modern medicine. I also really like that Dr. Blank, though a gynecologist, takes a broad interest in your health. During your annual exam, he talks to you about general physical and mental health matters to make sure you don't need care from other physicians, and to check in with you about things like exercise and smoking. He is also happy to do things like cholesterol screenings at the same time as your annual exam. Having been Dr. Blank's patient for so long, I have seen him for all matter of female problems, and he's great. Please note that, unfortunately, he no longer does obstetric care, but other doctors in his practice do. He's also happy to refer you to OBs outside his practice if you're interested. read more

UPDATED: If you are willing to get past the bitchy receptionists, it is completely worth it to see Dr. Blank! The receptionists are rude and short on the phone and in person. The lady I spoke with made me feel stupid for asking questions regarding the visit (is was to be my first one), and she was unhelpful in giving me the information I needed to schedule. However, Dr. Blank is AMAZING! I can't speak highly enough about him. He spoke with me first, then I had the actual check-up, then he spoke with me AGAIN in his office. Dr. Blank is caring, understanding, and genuinely talks about your concerns and issues with you. Although I did have to wait a bit (5-10) to chat with him in his office, I did not feel rushed at all...and he was apologetic. Imagine a doctor who is actually sorry that he made you wait! Dr. Blank's follow up is just as good as the in person visit. Within 48 hours, he emailed me information that we had discussed. Then, he called me with test results. Then he followed up with an email because he had gotten my voicemail! After we chatted, I emailed him another question. He responded within 24 hours. And Dr. Blank is actually writing the emails himself! I am so impressed with Dr. Blank. I only wish he could find some office staff that mirror his concern, politeness, and caring nature. read more

So until last week I didn't even know Doc's had yelp reviews. Found Dr. Blank after a desperate search to find a new Doc after a bad experience with another one. This after my beloved Gyn-Onc of many years left the area and left The Wicked Witch of the West in her place. But, I digress.... So I've had one appointment with Dr. Blank (stay tuned for updates) and YES YES YES. He was so friendly and patient. Sat and listed to my concerns, went to help another patient and then brought me to his office so that he could talk next steps and make sure I understood what was happening going forward. I have to say its sometimes too much of a rarity to find a Doc who takes the time to listen to patients. I get it, its a tough field and generally far too many patients to see in one day. Well, somehow Dr. Blank makes it work and I am forever grateful. I have to say I shed a tear or two when I left the office. Been struggling with some pretty serious side effects from my medical illnesses and its been a long hard road getting someone to understand that I'm still too young to feel this way. He listened and immediately provided options. Gave me my prescription, my referral and even recommended a Doctor I can see for another issue I'm having. He even made a copy of my medical records himself! In any case, I'm sticking with this one. Its not easy to have to re-explain a complicated medical history every time you walk into an office. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed that I leave wondering if the Doctor really understands what I am going thru. Didn't feel that way this time, left feeling like I've got a Doctor in my corner who's going to make sure I have the best quality of life regardless of what my medical records say. Dr. Blank is great: gives it to you straight, answers all your questions, and save you time because he answers emails and will check in on you when necessary. I docked one star because of the front desk staff. They are waaay unprofessional and disorganized. I don't want to get a bill for my copay after I asked twice to make sure when they said no, I don't want to hear about their weekends with some guys or going to the club because they talk so loud, and I shouldn't know about some cheating guy or how they don't like some of the staff. I chose Dr. Blank after seeing the reviews here. I had my first appointment in the spring of this year. Everyone is spot on. He's awesome. He spoke to me intelligently - he explains everything clearly and doesn't dumb it down any more than not giving you a chemistry lesson. He took even my crazier concerns seriously and when he didn't have an answer he referred me to other specialists he thought could answer my smallest questions. Even though I'm in my early 20s he recommended I get my cholesterol tested yearly - no one had told me that could be a side effect of my medication before. I'm posting this review now because I had a problem with my insurance company. I thought his office dropped the ball (turns out they didn't) so I emailed Dr. Blank directly. He responded to my email relatively quickly, saying they'd help however they could, and forwarded it to the appropriate staff person, who got back to me within a few days. I sent him a follow-up email and he again helped out, even though it was still administrative. read more

I went to see Dr. Blank for the first time today and it was an amazing experience. The staff was friendly and helpful and fast. Dr. Blank really took the time to talk to me, find out what was going on and if I had any specific concerns, and to make sure I was comfortable. During the exam (which we all know can be awkward), Dr. Blank talked to me about work and life and took my mind off of the entire process. I mentioned that I was fairly new to DC and didn't have a primary care physician, and Dr. Blank took the time to give me recommendations of primary care doctors in the area. This was my first appointment with Dr. Blank, for a routine pap smear. I should also state this was my first time having a male gynecologist, so I was a little apprehensive, regarding the visit, for no apparent reason. Anyway, my first visit was awesome! I'm sorry I didn't make the switch sooner. He was attentive, by making sure I was comfortable, demonstrated great bedside manner, by asking questions and providing helpful feedback. My wait was within the norm, and I was seen in timely fashion. The other staff were pleasant and just as engaging. Everything was handled so efficiently and professionally but with a side of "I do care", I couldn't expect or ask for much more. Five stars indeed! read more

Dr. Blank is fantastic! All of these reviews led me to his office when I first moved to DC and was in need of a new gyno, and I am so glad they did. He is a kind, genuine, intelligent doctor who seems to really care about each individual patient's well being. He takes the time to explain everything to you in a way that is easily understood but also not condescending. He invites each patient into his office after the exam to talk about any questions you may have and to go over everything. After 6 years in DC, I have learned that good doctors are hard to come by. VERY HARD to come by. I had been to three separate gynecologists before I found Dr. Blank. I could not be happier. Despite having more patients than he knows what to do with, Dr. Blank always takes extra time to really talk to me. He wants to know what is new in my life, with my job...he will explain everything he does, prescribes, and recommends, in depth. After any type of exam, you will be invited to sit with him in his office, while he summarizes what was discussed during the exam. He asks, at least three times, if I have any additional, questions, comments, concerns and regardless of how much time I take (or don't take) to engage him, he gives me his card and makes me promise that if I need anything, I will email him. And guess what...if I email him, he emails back. Not some nurse with a programmed answer, but Dr. Blank himself. I highly recommend Doctor Blank to anyone in search of a doctor who cares about his patients and is thorough in what he does. I never fail to be impressed with him. read more

The wait time is shorter than with any other doctor, He does not rush through the examination, and repeatedly asks if you have any questions or issues before he starts examining you. The examination is followed with a sit down chat in his office where he goes over the results of his examination and recommendations for next steps. He also follows up with an email. Dr Blank was referred to me by my regular gyn at Georgetown University, for placement of an IUD (they don't do birth control at Georgetown). This is a wonderful practice. The check-in process is computerized and fast. Dr Blank is great and very friendly. He takes extra time to make sure you understand everything. Candice was the ultrasound tech and took extra time and care to make sure I was comfortable. The person in charge of getting insurance approval (I think Ms Molina?) called quickly to let me know that the procedure was covered so that I could go ahead and schedule that. Dr. Blank was great. He seemed genuinely concerned with my issues, promised to do research on the questions I had and even got me an appointment with another doctor when he was unavailable. He called me at 7pm because he received a note about a call I had made and though it necessary to get me in sooner than he was available. The only thing I wasn't too happy about was that he doesn't answer emails as quickly as I would like him to but the fact that he does answer them (I'm sure he's more than busy) is awesome! I'm not big on male doctors, mostly since there's always a nurse in the room ( one pair of eyes is enough and I understand the reasons why) but he's a keeper! read more

Dr. Kenneth A. Blank is terrific--he conducted my first GYN exam ever and could not have been more pleasant, easygoing, informative, sensitive, gentle, and nonjudgmental. I was originally scheduled to have my exam with a female colleague of his who is a friend's OB/GYN--when that appointment had to be canceled because the doctor went on medical leave, I was placed in Dr. Blank's care. After reading the reviews on "yelp" I felt much better about it, and now that I have been to my first examination with him I can attest to the fact that he is every bit as good as fellow patients say he is. read more
