I so appreciate that she takes the time to LISTEN and actually check for causes, not just diagnose symptoms. She is very, very thorough, personable, and is not someone who will let things go until you are feeling better. Also, her front office staff, Gabriella Fatone, is very helpful and friendly. The office is pleasant and comfortable and accessible by Metro. Gabriella is also amazing and always helpful and responsive. They're both super responsive about refills and billing questions. They are arguing that this fee is necessary to improve services and technology, etc., which, from my perspective, should not be at the expense of patients, but a responsibility of the business owners and stakeholders who want to be in the health care system and should have a sound investment and business strategy plan instead of having clients paying for the business they want to have. Unless, they are on purpose creating a membership-like model to access OBGYN health care, to appeal to a very specific clientele, in which case, they should be transparent about it, instead of imposing such a fee under the disguise of betterment of their services, and inadvertently, rendering the services possibly discriminatory and less accessible to some extent. Either management did not put a lot of thought on this, or they did, and simply did not care. In addition, there seem to be a lot of turnover, and their licensed providers (who for the most part and in fairness, are pretty easy going), have significantly decreased from when I started going years ago. Only at the beginning I had a consistent provider but that has changed in the past 2 to 3, when I can be seen by whoever is available. Depending on who you talk to whether in billing, front desk, checkout, you may also be faced with somewhat condescending approach, but I am not sure if that is due to unprofessionalism of some of the staff, or if it is a symptom of how they are treated by business management, and they are just simply burned out, with clients and patients ending up as unintended collateral damage. Given the decline of services, providers and quality of customer service over the years, I had been considering switching practice already, but this imposition just did it for me. I rather pay more in insurance, deductible and co-pay for better services altogether, than make my health care dependable on whether I am willing to pay for what seems to be an annual membership fee, which at the end, will not guarantee better care, because it is a matter of integrity and not profitability. In my opinion, it is problematic that for a health care and medical practice the quality of services is contingent upon increasing or imposing additional costs to the patients, instead of making it a stakeholders investment and accountability.

During annual examinations and pap smears he has a nurse in the room, explains everything step by step before and while he is doing it in a very calm, reassuring and soothing tone. He doesn't go quiet, he is talking to you while examining you and he's thorough but quick. He tells you it is going to pinch but it is over before you know it. After the examination he leaves so you can dress and then he knocks and comes back in and talks to you to see if you might have any other medical issues that need addressing. He was so helpful when I developed breast cancer, needed a double mastectomy and didn't know who to turn to. He immediately recommended a couple of excellent surgeons and I chose one. Did he let it go at that? Dr. Blank checked in and messaged me to make sure I was ok during that hard year. I was gobsmacked and really felt he cared. And, yes, thanks, I'm doing great now. You feel his empathy and caring. His nurse Luce is lovely, and as kind and gentle as he is. She was warm and professional too. And the ladies at the front desk and those who schedule my appointments were kind and helpful. He hires great people and it makes such a difference! That's what I've been his patient for a couple of decades. And tell my friends about him.

While some of the providers were fantastic, my experience with Dr. Scott Osmun was absolutely horrific. When I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, Dr. Osmun was incredibly negative, relying on scare tactics and outdated data rather than providing balanced, evidence-based guidance. When I asked him to send me literature to support his claims, he couldn't--or simply didn't. Instead of offering support, he made an already stressful diagnosis even more overwhelming. Unfortunately, I ended up delivering with him as well, and the experience was just as frustrating. He insisted a C-section was inevitable because I wasn't progressing fast enough. I requested a few more hours with my doula (most doulas refuse to work with Bloom because of Dr. Osmun), and we used positional techniques--something he completely dismissed--to help labor progress. Sure enough, I was able to fully dilate to 10 cm. Then, he insisted I would need forceps or a vacuum because my baby was hitting my pelvic bone. Again, we asked for more time, and I was able to deliver my baby without intervention. Instead of allowing me the standard 30 minutes to deliver my placenta naturally, Dr. Osmun immediately performed a manual extraction, a painful and unnecessary intervention. His priority seemed to be rushing the process rather than respecting my body's ability to do what it needed. In appointments, he was condescending and dismissive, treating me like I was an uninformed mother who knew nothing--despite my background in health. His attitude, coupled with his outdated approach to care, made me feel unheard and disregarded. That being said, I absolutely loved Dr. Abdalla, Lauren Gordon, and Clare Heintzelman. They provided compassionate, thoughtful care, and I truly appreciated their expertise. However, no matter how great they are, the risk of ending up with Dr. Osmun again has made me switch practices. Another issue with Bloom OBGYN is their annual $100 fee, which feels classist and unnecessary for a practice already profiting from patient care. Overall, while some of the doctors here are excellent, my experience with Dr. Osmun was enough to make me leave the practice entirely. If you're considering Bloom, be mindful of which provider you see.
