He also has a very friendly and personable bedside manner, which I'm finding more and more rare with most doctors these days. He really goes out of his way to get to know his patients and make them feel comfortable. He never makes you feel rushed like some doctors, and his office is always on time with appointments which I appreciate. Most importantly, he's just a great doctor. Last year when I was pregnant I discovered I had a large ovarian cyst. The OBGYN I was seeing at the time was quick to suggest I'd need surgery when I was only a few weeks pregnant, even though my cyst was showing signs of getting smaller. I went to see Dr. Yuri for a second opinion and he ended up saving me from a risky and unnecessary surgery. He was very thorough and carefully explained all of my options to me. I immediately dropped my other doctor and now send all my DC friends straight to Dr. Yuri.

My second GYN only saw me once and the visit was so poor, I vowed never to return there. I met Dr. Yuri at a meet and greet physician function. He was so pleasant that I thought, yeah, I could go and see him. I see many specialists for a variety of reasons. Dr. Yuri is A++++++++! I had my first visit with him in April, I had to have an "in and out" procedure" in May. He was wonderful explaining everything to me, not assuming that because I am a health care professional that I would understand everything. I was totally comfortable in his office and I was not rushed. America who works for him, is a wonderful and kind person. She is helpful and promptly responds to emails and phone calls. They are high tech; I love the use of phreesia (spelling?). What I loved and appreciated the most was that after my surgery in May, he went out and spoke to my husband, a non health care oriented person, and put him at ease. My husband's first words to me when I woke up from the procedure, "he came out and talked to me at length, he's great!" I am very thankful to have met him!

While some of the providers were fantastic, my experience with Dr. Scott Osmun was absolutely horrific. When I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, Dr. Osmun was incredibly negative, relying on scare tactics and outdated data rather than providing balanced, evidence-based guidance. When I asked him to send me literature to support his claims, he couldn't--or simply didn't. Instead of offering support, he made an already stressful diagnosis even more overwhelming. Unfortunately, I ended up delivering with him as well, and the experience was just as frustrating. He insisted a C-section was inevitable because I wasn't progressing fast enough. I requested a few more hours with my doula (most doulas refuse to work with Bloom because of Dr. Osmun), and we used positional techniques--something he completely dismissed--to help labor progress. Sure enough, I was able to fully dilate to 10 cm. Then, he insisted I would need forceps or a vacuum because my baby was hitting my pelvic bone. Again, we asked for more time, and I was able to deliver my baby without intervention. Instead of allowing me the standard 30 minutes to deliver my placenta naturally, Dr. Osmun immediately performed a manual extraction, a painful and unnecessary intervention. His priority seemed to be rushing the process rather than respecting my body's ability to do what it needed. In appointments, he was condescending and dismissive, treating me like I was an uninformed mother who knew nothing--despite my background in health. His attitude, coupled with his outdated approach to care, made me feel unheard and disregarded. That being said, I absolutely loved Dr. Abdalla, Lauren Gordon, and Clare Heintzelman. They provided compassionate, thoughtful care, and I truly appreciated their expertise. However, no matter how great they are, the risk of ending up with Dr. Osmun again has made me switch practices. Another issue with Bloom OBGYN is their annual $100 fee, which feels classist and unnecessary for a practice already profiting from patient care. Overall, while some of the doctors here are excellent, my experience with Dr. Osmun was enough to make me leave the practice entirely. If you're considering Bloom, be mindful of which provider you see.

She said I should still be doing a breast exam even though the AMA says not to. I'm not sure who to believe. When I mentioned the problems I had with their phone confirmation process, she said it was "above her pay grade" and said I should talk to the office manager. I told her when I made an error trying to reconfirm my appt, there was no way to rectify it. I spent 1/2 hr on the phone with the call center and they were very unhelpful. I was very upset when the call center said to me I had lost the appt "fair and square"!! There was nothing fair about it. I made the appt six weeks out and then lost it because their system is horrible. They don't ask you to confirm your cancellation. It's just cancelled. No second chance. No email. I needed the appt to refill prescriptions before the end of the year. They refused to rebook my appt. even when I said it was a medical issue. I emailed the office several times using their portal with no luck. They said to call the day when I had my original appt to see if someone had cancelled. So I did. Guess what?! My original appointment time was available! There's something wrong here. I want to note that the in-office staff were all pleasant and friendly. It was the call center staff and manager who were unhelpful. Customer service is apparently not a priority for GWU. That's unfortunate.

My office is about 2 blocks away from her office so after lunch, I walked down to her office and tried to think happy thoughts. It wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought it would be - Dr. Kesselman was very professional and talked to me throughout the whole exam and always told me what she was doing and why and kept me talking to help keep my mind off of the awkward part. Dr. Kesselman is great and I would recommend her practice to others.

I didn't wait long, and they made the entire process so incredibly easy. They put me at ease in both the intake process and preliminary height/weight/blood pressure measurements. Now, Dr. Burke: Dr. Burke held a consultation with me in his office, where he made sure that I didn't feel rushed, and let me tell him about all of the possible health anxieties I have. He was extensively informative about a whole host of concerns that I brought up, he genuinely listed and heard me. He made me feel so comfortable. Not only very personable, but clearly an expert in his field. He referred me to a mammogram center that he knows and really trusts, communicating to me that even though I'm a brand new patient, he is going to do his best by me to help me feel safe and healthy. I sincerely look forward to seeing Dr. Burke as my primary care physician and women's health physician for as long as I remain in D.C. If I could give the overall experience more than five stars, I certainly would.

I walked into the office and could have sworn that I was on the set of the reality show "Hoarders"…read more aside from the mess, one got the distinct impression of uncleanliness. The bathroom was a total gross out experience. The chaos made one believe that your test results may not belong to you. After all, in the mess, who can keep track of a name? Next to the cups in the bathroom there were little pieces of cut up paper. I suppose they were to pin on your cup or something. I didn't take any chances, I wrote my name in bold letters. Good lot that would do as the receptionist could not get my name right. She called me by the incorrect name 3 times, and even after I corrected her, she wrote the wrong name on the prescription for a test. Although Dr. Cole obviously knows what she is talking about the way she runs her office invalidates her years of training and experience. I know why she is always late. She tries to give you a diagnoses for every part of your body. Then she really likes to do biographies of other peoples ailments and what worked for them. An hour or two later, you are still sitting there, shredded robe and all (I do not believe paper is meant to be worn for more than 45 minutes). Now what really worried me is that Dr. Cole does not use recyclable speculums. That would be fine if her house is in order. But, if, her receptionist cannot remember a name 2 seconds after she was told, do you really think that she could remember what color was was the disinfected bucket?? I pictured her in my mind saying "ok, red is clean, yellow is not, or it it yellow is clean, red is not?" Yes gross out to the max not to mention unsafe. And, can I add YUCK!! Furthermore, Dr. Cole must be a pharmaceutical reps wet dream. I had so many samples and pills pushed on me, I felt it was Halloween. All I can say is that I walked out of there feeling very very uneasy about the entire experience and had to make another appointment for the same thing elsewhere.

She is constantly overscheduled, which results in her becoming scatterbrained. They will call you to inform you that your appointment is being pushed back, but I'm not about to take half a day off of work when my appointment was only supposed to take an hour. I once scheduled an appointment for 3 PM and wasn't seen until 6 or 7 PM. She also doesn't have a trained aide to help her with procedures, and will, more often then not, have her receptionist assist her. I've also never been told to get my blood drawn more often in my life. Seriously she had me get my blood drawn after almost every appointment for seemingly no reason. Like another person said below - she's a pharmaceutical reps wet dream and pushes every kind of treatment and pill on you. She pushed me to get Nexplanon which turned out to be one of the WORST experiences I have ever had. She also became very concerned that I had a heart murmur and sent me to a cardiologist. Cardiologist said I had an extremely healthy heart with no issues, and then I was out of pocket $250 for the appointment. I was her patient for a few years and kept going back because it's so tough to find a gyno with good bedside manner. I left her care because I could no longer trust her as a doctor.
