The very first time I got my teeth cleaned here the lady who did them was very aggressive, rude, and I got the impression she just wanted to leave and be done with me. Had braces for 20 months the first time around and ended up having to get them back on. Dr. Briedens treatment caused my bite to be way off even more so than when I started, My teeth ended up in a position where they met right in the middle to where I couldn't bite down correctly. After this first treatment he placed a permanent retainer and assured me it would keep my teeth in their correct positions and I'd maintain my final results. Well, a few short months after I had major gaps on the teeth that this permanent retainer didn't cover. As a professional he should've known for my particular case that a removable retainer would have been more ideal. So I complained about my results until he put them back on for another 15-19 months only for my bite to go back to near what it was when I started treatment 3-4 years prior along with chipping on my top front teeth because the directions he was giving me with my rubber bands caused my teeth to overlap excessively and hit my bottom brackets. He then took my braces off A SECOND TIME and I had him file my teeth for a second time because obviously the wear and tear of a second treatment caused unevenness and now my teeth look very small. Even after going through treatment a second time the main issue I was trying to FIX!! "SPACING" was noticeable immediately after taking them off the second time! This time it was in the middle of my TWO FRONT TEETH! After all this money spent he recommended bonding SMH! HEY DR. BREIDEN maybe you should've told me these problems would occur beforehand to prevent all this nonsense! BUT NO you were just looking at the $$$ signs! You're supposed to be professional you are a specialist in orthodontics! You seem to just disregard your patients concerns and say oh well I have my money ALL IS GOOD on my end. Who knows the damage you caused to my jaw putting me through such an extended nonsensical treatment! Worst money & time ever spent. You should be ashamed of yourself. Pretty sad we couldn't get good results after 2 tries! Also Dr. Breiden doesn't even keep your original molds for your retainers. So if you lose them on vacation or something and come back and your teeth have shifted basically your whole treatment could possibly go down the tubes because of something so dumb. Any logical sensible human being would keep original molds to retain results DUHHH. Now a few years after finishing treatment and my teeth have never had worse alignment and spacing in my life. I am well aware the most of the orthodontists in our area do partial jobs. Specifically, they slap braces on the 8 front teeth on the top and bottom and call it a day. However, this does not correct any of the underlying problems that can cause for serious future pain and costly surgeries. Other orthodontists care more about having an assembly line of clients they can align a few teeth, charge a considerable amount for their incomplete work, and then go to the next child or adult and continue the process. That is where Dr. Ziaja is different. He does things the right way. His ethics are a cornerstone of his operation and he ensures everything in your mouth is correct to ensure there is no trouble for your smile or for your jaw in the future. He cares about everything being right which is so important for something that you will show everyone you meet for the rest of your life, your smile.  Let us not forget that he graduated at the top of his class at the University of Michigan. This, I can only imagine, was no easy feat. He is very intelligent and hardworking. His dedication to details will ensure that he will successfully give you an outstanding smile. The smile he has given me has allowed me to get several high-profile jobs in the Metro-Detroit area because I had a terrific smile that lights up the room.  So if you are on the fence about which orthodontist to pick, remember the difference between cost and price. Price is the one-time payment you make to get the braces. You will only worry about it once. However, the cost can be so much more if you go to a different orthodontist than him because it adds up the time, headaches, and additional hidden costs of going to a place that cuts corners. So ask yourself, do I want a perfect smile (for myself or my child) done right the first time or do I want the insecurities of my smile or my child's smile to show through for the rest our life?  I can't thank Rose and Dr. Ziaja enough! They also gave me damning advice when the issue could've easily been reversed after having talked to several other orthodontists, and they rendered my issue non-fixable because of them telling me to just stop wearing my trays until I come in and then did not let me get in for weeks. Go to an orthodontist who is willing to show you their plan, who is willing to work with you and make adjustments if there's something going on with your mouth and your teeth and your body that is causing pain or something you are unhappy with. I was already almost out the door when the lady at the front desk goes "Are those tears I see?!" Of course I kept walking out. She didn't ask if I was okay or anything, and you would think she could tell I just wanted to leave, but instead she said "Are those tears I see?" That was a specific personal experience I had but there are also bad things that everyone experiences here. I hated coming here because of how long I had to spend in the waiting room. Luckily, the chairs in the waiting room are comfortable because that is where you'll be spending a lot of time. I usually got here about 10 minutes before my appointment and wasn't called back for at least 25-30 minutes after my appointment time. My best friends' mom who recommended this orthodontist to us also complains about the long wait in the waiting room. They give you a punch card at your first appointment and you can get different prizes depending on how many cards you fill. When I first started here, the big prize for filling 4 punch cards was a $150 gift card which I was very excited for. I decided from the beginning that was what I would save up for. Once I finally saved up 4 full punch cards, they had changed the prizes to smaller amounts on the gift cards. The best gift card I could get at my last appointment was a $25 giftcard for 3 punch cards. I chose a $25 Amazon gift card and got a $5 Starbucks giftcard with my 4th punch card. The original prize was a very generous amount, but the reason I'm upset is because the $150 gift card was what I was saving up for. Once I finally got enough filled punch cards after 4 years, the prize I got was a fifth of what I had saved up for. I wish they had at least let us know before they changed the prize amount because then I could've at least claimed a giftcard for however many punch cards I had filled at the time. This only upset me because that big prize was what I was looking forward to, especially after 4 years here and the amount of time I spent in the waiting room. I often had to get out of school early because they were always fully booked with after school appointments since most patients are teenagers. On the first day of seventh grade I was at a new school for junior high and I had to leave early on the FIRST DAY for an appointment to get my expander. This was a major inconvenience because I didn't know my way around the school yet and I already had to leave before sixth hour on the first day. However, AT LEAST after 4 years my teeth are finally straight. My teeth started out with my 2 front teeth straight but the tooth on each side sticking further forward. I also had an overbite. After 4 years, my teeth are finally straight and the orthodontic pain is done. And I don't just mean the physical pain of an expander and braces. I also mean the stress I felt every time I was in that waiting room. I knew whatever they did was going to hurt so the 30+ minutes in the waiting room just made it worse waiting for what was going to happen. Even worse, I often was still waiting about 15 minutes after getting seated before they started anything. One time they put the thing that sucks air to dry your teeth in my mouth and had me bite down on it for like 15 minutes while they were doing something with other patients which bothered me because I didn't know when they were going to come back.
