I'm new to Lawrence so I asked several people who I should call to replace my windshield. Everyone I asked had great things to say about Kennedy Glass. My call was quickly returned, and I had a new windshield within two business days. Nick, of Kennedy Glass, went to the auto dealership to do the installation so the service techs there could recalibrate the windshield cameras at the same time. That was a huge help. Fast, friendly service. I hope I don't need another new windshield, but I will definitely take any future glass needs to Kennedy Glass. read more

I called Kennedy Glass days ahead and scheduled a windshield replacement for my 2010 Prius. Showed up on the appointed day and dropped-off my car. Was told it should be ready for pick up in about 4 hours (that's no small waiting time, but I shrugged it off). Got a call 30 minutes later telling me that the windshield hadn't even been ordered, and couldn't be installed until the following day. This is unforgivable service. read more

My 2006 Jeep Commander had a crack line across the width of it and Kennedy glass did a remarkable job replacing it with a high quality new one. Very happy from the beginning to the end result- they quoted a fair price and got the job done promptly- some business with them for years and they have never disappointed! read more

Very bad customer service They have no idea what that means Quoted me $80.Said I would receive a phone call when ready. called several time , Then they said they called a left a message. Not ! Dropped off October 16. Picked up November 12th Now price is $104.93 I would not recommend Kennedy Glass. read more

I would also give 0 stars if possible. Had a screen repaired as I had done dozens of times before. Usual cost was about 20- 25 dollars. This time the bill came to 115 dollars. Told them there must be some mistake. NO, they used 35 dollars worth of screen and the rescreening took 45 minutes at 100 dollars per hour. This should be illegal. there was no warning up front about these outlandish price increases. Kennedy glass used to be a GREAT local company ran by great people. No more. Took nearly 3 months to get a mid sized project done, paid for all the materials upfront, understandable given COVID But within a week of finishing got a ridiculously funny call from some one looking to "follow up before sending our account to collections." read more

Customer Service and communication was terrible. It took an extra week for my windshield to be repaired due to poor communication. I called to schedule a mobile windshield repair and I told them the make and model of my vehicle. Day of repair comes around and turns out they ordered the wrong piece of glass. I'm told they will call me back to reschedule. I don't hear anything for 2 days, so I call them. Nobody seems to know about my ticket, and when I explain the situation they get me scheduled as soon as possible. Day of reschedule appointment comes around and I get a call at the time they were suppose to come, saying they would have reschedule in 2 days because they don't have the glass. They didn't call at beginning of the day when I figured they would have known this, but at the time they're suppose to be there. Luckily the third time worked out and they did it quick and efficient, but the communication between them and the customer is terrible. Would not recommend! read more

Not a company I'd go back to. Relatively simple home window project took four months. Paid for all the materials up front. Always an excuse. Less than two weeks after completion got a laughable collections call (check was literally in the mail.) read more

Our daughter is an out-of-state student at KU and when her window regulator broke with her window down we didn't know who to call. Following good reviews from the KU Parent facebook page, we called Dale and Ron's first. They recommended Kennedy Glass and we are so glad they did. She was able to take her car in a day later and everything was fixed at a very fair price while she waited. Always great to find a trustworthy company that does good work. Terrible experience having my windshield replaced here. They didn't install the rain sensor correctly so they had to order another gel pack. In the meantime, the mirror falls off because it was not reinstalled correctly so I have to go back again. Finally they get the gel pack in and then they break the sensor during the install. Order a new sensor and I wait for that to come it. Finally, he gets it put back together and it works but then I discover that they have broken my visor! Didn't even bother going back for that. They left greasy finger prints on the interior, the visor, etc. What hacks! If you drive anything more than a beater, I would not take it to these people. read more

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Was promised a window would be fixed in 5-7 days. It was fixed 13 days later. Emails full of excuses and were down right rude. No sense of customer service at this place at all. I will NEVER spend a dime with this company again. I encourage anyone reading this to use any other glass company in Lawrence besides Kennedy. If I could, I would give this place negative stars. The only reason I went to this place is because they are the only ones in town. Their customer service is terrible. Every time I call to order or request service, I always have to leave my number for the right person to call me back, but they never do. I have to call several times for them to respond. 1) I have ordered windshield repairs on my truck (it had small tiny cracks) and I can still see the cracks. Its like they didn't do nothing and just billed me for doing nothing. 2) Ordered 4 sheets of tempered glass. One of them literally shattered into a million pieces after placing it on the table. Table or glass was not hot or cold, it was room temperature. No clue on how this could have happened. 3) Had windows repaired at my house. My skylights still leak. Seriously, wth. After all these experiences, I will drive out to Kansas City for window repairs with much better service and quality. read more

Had a chipped windshield so I went here with complete trust that they would seal the chip. Turns out a couple months later it was never sealed properly so it's spreading again. Never going here again nor would I ever refer somebody to go here. read more

Kennedy Glass is overpriced and extremely unorganized. I dropped off screens to be worked on, they did not tell me when they would be done. After a week of not hearing from them I stopped in to check on them. They were done, and no one bothered to call and let me know. The front desk lady, Katie was extremely rude and seemed irritated to help me with my order. When I asked for a price break down as the price seemed extremely high, she was rude and snippy with me as she reached her hand out to take my card. I will NOT bring my business to Kennedy Glass again and will discourage anyone seeking their services to go somewhere else. read more

The technicians were good and the job was decent, but that's only part of the story. I had a rock break the outside tempered glass right before leaving town and called to get an estimate. It took almost a week for someone to come out to look. Finally, I received an "estimate" over email and I approve it thinking that the word estimate means what it says in the dictionary. I asked for them to contact our house sitter about installing times and after another week past the estimate (more to come about this later) they finally called her the day before they were available. Needless to say she didn't have enough notice to change her schedule less than 24 hrs in advance. Fast forward 3.5 weeks we are back and finally get a scheduled time. The receptionist calls the day before and tells us the job should take 2.5 hours to complete. The two women who installed it worked timely and had it done in 55 minutes flat. I was relieved because it would mean less cost in labor. However, I get the final bill a week after completion and it's the exact same as the estimate. $165 for the glass, $20 for materials and disposal, and $160 for labor. I call and ask to speak with bookkeeping and the lady I spoke with became instantly defensive and rude when I simply wanted to know the breakdown of the labor costs. She kept repeating in an irritated voice, "I've worked here for 10 years and this is how we've always done things" and "you saw the estimate and that's what we charged so why are you questioning it?". After explaining to her the logic and definition of estimate she offered to take $20 off the bill. She told me the installation included drive time there and back, the installation itself, and the loading of the truck. I told her I understand that they are going to charge every working minute to me, but after giving her a math lesson about how time and labor work she got even more upset and said, "well, how do you expect me to pay my techs if I keep knocking down the price?". She then asked what I thought was fair so I broke it down to her. I wasn't arguing the cost of the glass or materials/disposal. However, I explained that it doesn't take more than ten minutes for 2 adults to load 1 piece of glass, one standard tool belt, and a couple caulking guns into a truck with which she responded "you don't know that!" (Yet, I do from my own personal days of construction). Google maps estimated a 12 min drive one way, but to be fair I rounded the load and drive times up to the nearest 1/4 of an hour since that's how labor is normally calculated. Therefore, an hour of work time on location plus the 45 min of charges on top for driving/loading equals 1 hour and 45 min. She told me that the bill charged me for 3 hours of labor. She became even more irate when I broke this down for her and asked for her to explain the time difference and she said that they charge exactly what they estimate regardless of whether it was severely overestimated or not. I told her that we could round the 1 3/4 hours to a full 2 hours (their benefit) and they could charge me 66.6% of the labor which would be $106.66 instead of $160 ($54 less), but she said "absolutely not" and offered $40 instead as "a final compromise price" knowing they were in the wrong in the first place. Not to mention she didn't even bother recalculate the 4.8% sales tax on the original $345 subtotal. I kept telling her that I wasn't calling to ruffle her feathers, I reluctantly agreed to the $40 off, thanked her for her time and told her how I appreciated her patience. Her goodbye was a "mmmhmmm" with a click of the phone hanging up. All in all - The work you get done is decent, the material prices are fair, and the technicians who install are friendly, but the business tactics they have are a bit shady "in order to pay their employees". There is no set per hour labor cost it's just whatever the installation cost is divided the hours they "estimated" (even if it is way over actual time used). I suggest getting a couple estimates before choosing them, but I doubt I call them first next time that I have a glass need based on how I was spoken to on the phone by their "10-year veteran" book keeper. read more
